And then AJ writes the best letter to Celestia.

"I didn't learn anything lolololol.... AND I was right about everything. Deal with it."

Also, Fluttershy sleeps in the nude, so there's that. Too bad I missed the cider bros' song because of a phone call; though it was great seeing an ecstatic Rainbow Dash flying all over the background at the thought of finally getting some cider.

Also, for a second there, I thought Fluttershy was going to make the apples fall from the trees out of sheer kindness like she had done in Applebuck Season; totally missed an opportunity to make her the tree whisperer.

AJ letters to the Princess are BEST letters to the Princess.

Overall, that was a pretty good episode. I kept expecting it to go along the lines of that one SpongeBob episode, and then it changed focus (AJ starts pumping apples out), then it changed back (Flim Flam bros. stop caring about quality), then it changed again (AJ accepts defeat), then it changed back again.

Plus that song was amazing.

You know what's kinda funny? Type "monorail" into Google and that is still on the first page.

Also, from the comments of that video:
Apple Cider! Apple Cider! Apple Cider! Apple Cider! Apple Cider! Apple Cider! Apple Cider!

Was reading the comments, and someone pointed out something that I totally missed when I watched it... The ponies are fanatically camping out.... For Apple products.

The 480p video doesn't seem to be loading for me (well, loading as fast as usual), so I'll try and watch the episode later on.

I hate it though, that in this county, there's always a compromise between "area with decent broadband connection" and "area with decent neighbourhood" - you don't get many rural chavs, but you don't get fibre optics in the middle of nowhere, either.

To be honest, though, I'd just settle for "good internet connection" and then stay indoors all day on the PC to avoid the chavs.

We have a similar compromise in the Midlands, but I occasionally hop over the border to Wales and both the neighbourhood I stay in and the connection are great there (it's almost in the middle of nowhere, so no chavs whatsoever).

Where I am now though it's almost the complete opposite, although I don't care about the area too much. I'd just like a better connection really.

Dammit! I slept in late and missed the episode. I'll have to catch it on Youtube in a bit.

So, I don't really follow a lot of the Ask Pony tumblrs, but I came across this new one that seems pretty cool.

Ask Vinyl Scratched.

Kinda interested to see where they're going with it. I even submitted a question. I asked "So how's Octavia doing these days?" hoping it would incite a nervous breakdown.

Because I'm evil.

I've just seen something interesting...The Doctor. In a Green Tie.

Subtle nod to Tennant, Perhaps?

((Also, Toro, thanks for the add in the first post. Haven't gotten any more joins, but it's appreciated. :3))

Soft cider my ass.

They've sold cider to Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook.

I like Sibsy's art style.

Boss.

And now for responses:

Damn it Spitfire.

At least I did catch the episodes, and boy, dat Last Roundup... Consider the Ballad well and truly Jossed!

I must admit, I'm wracking my brain but I still don't get it.

Did what Toro? Forget to tell us you want to race tomorrow?

Oh, go walk in a minefield.

:p

Now that I can do. Thanks a thousand fold. Silly EQD, I don't need Ponychan to review a chapter, I just need a ridiculous front drive muscle car!

That was a coincidence. I prefer "improperly spelled plane."

And no problem. Sorry it took me a month to get to it.

Haha, and high notes? Count me out, mate. My voice doesn't get much higher than what you heard on the Brony Show interview.

What if I said I've decided not to bother with the solos, and we'd just do the entire song instead (also thinking about changing the son as a result)?

You know, now that you mention it...

That's some creepy timing.

That's better than the Dash one.

...

Damn it Spitfire.

Toronado, what's the last day we can submit our recordings?

Dunno yet.

Looks like Bon Bon has yet another voice. Now we have "I didn't put those in my bag", "Never heard of you", "That incredible amazing doll" and now "Mine has rocks in it". And Doctor Whooves actually started the hourglass! Now all we need is a blue box. Here we go. And there was RD never getting any cider.

Bonbon is actually a voice actress in the show, who likes to practise.

Also, showtunes and mass alcoholism...unless cider has a different place in American culture than over here?

In America, "hard" cider is alcoholic. "Soft" cider is not.

That being said, "soft" cider generally isn't drunk out of a wooden mug, and it usually isn't frothy either.

Cider isn't necessarily alcoholic, though it could be. I'm guessing would be non alcoholic on the show.

Everypony is camping out for a piss-up? Mother of God (I know it’s not hard cider, but I like to think otherwise).

Haha, RD has a keen taste for apples, I see.

So they ponified that Monorail song? Bloody catchy I’ll admit.

Add a new word to Big Mac’s repertoire, and Granny Smith is now Marty McFly (or Scoots).

Eww, it tastes like White Lightning. There's no place for you here in Ponyville.

I'll reply to stuff once I've finished my dinner.

Since alcoholic drinks take time to ferment it must be soft cider. But then again, those first few drinks of the season didn't really show ponies drinking soft cider. It looked like they were 'drinking'.:sly:
And AJ's letter.

@Toro, I was right.

My god, right!! The Flim Flam musical number is so "Monorail". Well, guess what the top comment on the Monorail video is? Apple Cider! Another example of "The Simpsons already did it", after Pinkie's crib instructions.

Now all we need is Dr. FlimFlam's Miracle Cider.

They've sold cider to Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook.

And by gum, it put them on the map!

Bitch, I'm flawless.

That's pretty much it.

What if I said I've decided not to bother with the solos, and we'd just do the entire song instead (also thinking about changing the son as a result)?

We don't need to do solos, no. Another song though? I'm curious.

That's some creepy timing.

How so?

This. This is what I perceive apple cider as being. xD

Your stomach is in for a rough ride then.

And I haven't touched any kind of cider since New Year's. I don't think I'll have any more for while either.

Berry Punch was certainly drinking something (7.0% ABV):

I still haven't finished the episode, but this...

I lost my 🤬

EDIT: God damn it. My internet keeps dropping out on me.

The Flim Flam brothers don't got this.

Pear cider is where it's at. :P

The first scene was absolutely hilarious, too; I loved Fluttershy blushing when Rainbow whipped her covers off, and Rainbow implying that Pinkie is a massive alcoholic (after shoving her hoof up Fluttershy's flank - lesbianism confirmed BTW).

In fairness, they never specifically said that it was "soft" cider anyway (IIRC) - and honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if either one of Pinkie or RD drinks. Rarity, though, needs to flip out and go OCD again sometime real soon; I feel that she's losing her pretentious fashionista touch a little - and isn't a cider festival a little too, y'know, "common" or "uncouth"?

I thought of these while waiting for my internet to level out. It still hasn't, but I keep starting the download where it stopped and I should have it soon. Then I'll just watch it all at once instead of constantly refreshing the YouTube page.

And then AJ writes the best letter to Celestia.

Pretty much these.

But I did like that they acknowledged that she already learned to accept a friends help when she needs it.

I'm wondering what song you have in mind.

Unrelated stuff about life-spans and things:
I was thinking about Granny Smith's age, when someone addressed the effectiveness of magic as a weapon, and that got me thinking.

I figure her age could have something to do with the nearly infinite uses of magic in medicine. I mean, if some pony has a bad heart it could probably be brought almost back to perfect by a well trained unicorn. And I realize that this would mean they could live forever, but then I figured health problems could eventually get to the point where not even the best doctors could help them.

This idea popped into my head shortly after Family Appreciation Day, but I just kept forgetting to say something here.

And suddenly I feel like reading the chapter of Macintosh where they race each other. And by "suddenly" I mean it was my first thought when I saw they running side by side.

I won't, because I don't have time, but I'd like to.

Funny you should say that, because I've noticed that in the show, there is no example of any healing magic. This is going to be important in my story (I really need to find something else to talk about) there's no such thing as healing magic. I may leave it as an unimportant quirk of the universe, or make it a major plot point.

Anyway, the episode was pretty darn good, but I think the absolute highlight was the letter to Celestia. That. That cannot be beaten by any other letter.

I'm also wondering if it was a coincidence that he started the timer.
I like to think that was a little nod to the fandom. Then again, he was just moving an object that happened to be his Cutie Mark. Maybe that's his job, moving the hourglass to start competitions that have time limits.

I've only seen examples of healing magic in a few fics I've read (well, I'm reading 2 right now that deal with healing through use of magic, and even resurrection using magic).

I don't think such magical practices would extend a pony's life much, if at all. Instead I reckon that they just age differently to us.

Now I feel like a bad person because this was my first thought.

Take solace in the fact the you weren't the only one who thought exactly the same thing during that scene.
