Well after reading Darin's full post on his forum I'm very happy that I went with the GT2 and ClubSports!!! It sounds like the Thrustmaster has an awesome wheel but as he states there is no force feedback support with any other PS3 games(Tried Dirt 2 and F1 2010) He says it's only compatible with GT5.
Although I already got the GT2 I was of course wondering how they would compare. It's sounds like the wheel is just awesome while the early report was the ClubSports are the tops. But after hearing it's GT5 only I'm feeling very good about my decision!
It's not GT5 only, they just haven't finished the firmware for the PC yet. It is fully capable on the PC as well. From their facebook page, it seems as though the update will be available within a few weeks. Also...from Darin's post on his forum, he said it was a step above from anything that either logitech and fanatec have put out. Looking forward to seeing the video when it's done!![]()
Here is his exact quote "The wheel has no force feedback with Dirt 2 and F1 2010 on the PS3. It does work and has a center spring that's hardware related.. But there's no force feedback. Currently it seems only compatible with GT5."
So while it's working with the other games on PS3 there is no Force Feedback. It's sounding like the wheel is not getting alot of attention past GT5. Now that may change in the future but why release a new wheel for a PS3 that only works with one game?
And I saw his comments on the wheel being a step above. Sounds like it's awesome, No doubt. But for me using the wheel with other games is very important.
Lol reading through this thread is just funny. Why are people so defensive and negative about a new wheel coming out? I hope it is better that the G27 and the GT3 that helps all of us because that means that both of those companies will push even harder for better more realistic wheels in the future.
As far as Thrustmaster's name they have more of a name in the simulation world than any other manufacturer. They've been making high end flight and racing gear for years. I used to have a HOTAS F16 style flight setup in the early 90s that cost much more than the best wheels on the market today and the stuff was bullet proof. Now obviously that has changed in recent years but they used to make rediculously accurate simulation gear and hopefully they're returning to the high end side as they used to be the King before Logitech existed.
Now I don't know how good this new wheel will be but why bash and flame it before it hits the market or it's reviewed. If it's in the same category as the other wheels then all it can do is get us better wheels and better prices!

It's an official licensced product. My guess is a Firmware update for PS3 could update the wheel to sort this issue. They have said updates will be coming.
So I'm sure the shifter may need another update. Also it is more likely than not they will make the clutch on this work well with GT5. Who knows we may even get Reverse in H-Shifter as well.
People were so quick on these forums to put down this wheels chances.
What do you mean? Reverse already works just fine with the the H-Shifter and my PWTS.
This is an officially compatible wheel with GT5. GT5 does not mean PS3. There isn't a standard steering wheel protocol on PS3 as there is on 360. Some developers very well could decide to build a patch to support it, but unless it sells tons, and there is a demand from their customers, then it is unlikely. Given the high price on the wheel, who knows?

Are you sure it's not a licensed PS3 product? It seems like it would be impossible to be licensed for a game on the PS3 without being licensed for the PS3 also... That's like getting a secuirty card for the store room but not getting a security card for the building the store room is in...
Also I believe the PS3 supports the USB HID standard for peripherals which means there is indeed a standard, it's just one apparently PD isn't too wild about adhearing to... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_interface_device
Definitely solidifies the idea that PD and GT5 are the non standard ones in this whole wheel fiasco.
I don't really know how the licensing and compatibility works on PS3, but it seems that it isn't as simple as it being USB HID so it works. You could be right that this is specifically PD being the non standard ones, but one would think that if Thrustmaster were making an officially sponsored wheel for PS3 that they would have made it to support an official standard if it existed. It isn't like you have to support GT5 or the other games. The G25/27 and Fanatec wheels support them both, and they aren't officially licensed PS3 or GT5 wheels..
Right... and I noticed they still are using the same damn clamp as the ones on the older Thrustmaster wheel. But judging from the picture the clamp does look better than the plastic they used last time. Well I was wondering also, can the wheel be used on a Playseat? I was thinking of buying the Playseat as well...
Can't wait for the review though!![]()

Watching this video made me conclude that I won't be buying this wheel. It's the standard pedals with a, similar as the nixim mod, standard pedals that made me come to this conclusion.
I waited to decide what to do but now I'm convinced that keeping the G27 and ordering the APelectrix will be a better solution than spending 499.99 on a new wheel WITHOUT shifter and standard pedals.
