Without needing to read every word of your posts I see another fight has ensued. I respectfully request that both of you, and anyone who wants to join in, please take this disagreement private through PM or email. It just gets to be a bit too much when every other page has some sort of argument. For the record, I don't find any fault as to why there is a disagreement between the two of you but I do disagree with you carrying it out here as the arguing takes the thread off topic.

Anyway, with regard to the T500RS clamp (if you dont mind me "jumping in and answering") it is an excellent design - very sturdy. Threaded steel tubing attached to the wheel frame. Threaded clamp shaft. It can handle a variety of table surface thicknesses.

thx, hopefully it will be enough as i would rather avoid drilling holes in my gamepod

on another note, has anyone mounted this thing to a GamePod? I have one on the way and the T500RS is just taunting me from my computer desk.

Hopfully in the next millinium I will be able to shead some light on the mounting issue.

hey RC45, I am sorry if i misunderstood you, but you have the T500 mounted to a playseat V1? May I get a copy to the link please? Thanks 👍

No more fighting in here, please.

RC45: Again: what happens on Facebook stays on Facebook. You haven't gone over the line in here, but leave any petty squabbles out there out there, please.

Jeff G: Cool it. Seriously.

Cmon turn the driving line off.

BTW. One more screen and you can have a triple screen setup lol.

RC, I know you've shown pictures regarding gas & brake pedal adjustability. But, watching your video and seeing how close they are does not fill be with confidence. You're a right foot braker and look natural doing so. Would you mind putting on your "left foot braker" hat for a while?

I finally did the G25 brake/clutch swap and my "man region" can breathe while I race!

Problem is the brake pedal is far over to the right and causes a weird angular position for left foot braking, with G25/27.

Here you go, video and photos. I think most of my useful posts have been lost in the noise.

Thanks a lot RC, really appreciate the post man! 👍👍👍

I got the playseat V2 i think it is (bar comes in between your legs) and i imagine the wobble will still be there with the T500 mounted on it so im gonna have to bolt on or weld on some kind of reinforcement somehow haha

Yes, incremental.

It is a both a rebrand and slight imporvment - the t500 is agian just ain incremental advance on from there. Well, not according to some I guess..

Where was it improved?
It's still a product that released offering nothing new or having any worthwhile improvements. To you 16 bit resolution and 2x the FFB is only incrememntal to some thats quite a large step up for a wheel.

Ah - key is "2 or 3 times" - not just once.

Well the CSP by their design require dismantling for changing different springs or pedal pressure and positions. So it is very much something many CSP owners will do more than once. The tuning kit is also a load of laughs to put in and then dismantle a couple more times trying those different springs. Its a real PITA and flawed design yet they still are great performing pedals.

We shall see when the 6P6C-DEC to PS2 cable adapter is done. Just waiting on the crimping die to come in.

Sorry I meant if the pedal plates from the CSP fit on the T500 pedals? I doubt if the CSP will work on the T500 however it may be possible for the T500 pedals to work with Fanatec wheels.

Facebooker review:
Pedals. I love how heavy duty they are. My logitech driving force gt pedals broke because they are made out of plastic but these are bombproof. The action is nice and smooth and though I haven't tried it yet, I like the idea of being able to switch from floor to hanging. The only improvement I can suggest is to eventually come up with a way to replicate the feel and resistance of real pedals. The brake and accelerator in a real car seem to have dynamic resistance. Maybe add vibration or force feedback to them as well.

Wheel. Again, I love the build quality and how solid and smooth everything is. The shifter action feels crisp and light which is good but I would like a little heavier of a click. While the wheel is a lot smoother and more precise than the Logitech DFGT, after a few days of play I began to notice the feel of the gears inside when turning the wheel. This is not a big deal at all but eventually I would like to see a system without gears or maybe just use more teeth so it is less noticeable. The force feedback is much better than the DFGT, much more precise and less jarring and random. However, it feels somewhat muted as if it is coming through thick rubber. Instead of getting sharp, responsive, high-frequency road feel as in a real car, it feels dull and more like a dull thud than a crisp tick. I don't know if this is the game or the wheel and it is not really taking away from the experience but it would be nice to see sharper response in the future. Lastly, I notice it is MUCH harder to catch a slide with this wheel than with the DFGT. One thing that stood out when I got GT5 was that slides were catchable unlike in the time trial. Now that I am on the T500RS I just don't feel enough communication from the wheel to catch or notice the slide until it is too late.

Overall. This wheel is worth every penny to me. Consider how much it costs to do track days in real life with tire wear, wear on the car, costs of insurance, instruction, and more. Compared to real life tracking, this is only a fraction of the cost, thus allowing me to get thousands of miles of practice from home. With all of this practice on the wheel in GT5, when I do get to the track in real life, it will be much more rewarding because I will have already gotten through most of the early struggles and basic techniques. Lastly, the best part of this wheel is that it feels like its capabilities far exceed that of GT5. This means that now instead of the hardware limiting the realness of the driving experience, it is limited by the software replicating the driving feel. The t500rs seems more than capable of handling more advanced force feedback and such as game developers continue to push sim racing technology forward. This wheel is a great value.

Q&A
Michael Wyles
Does it center correctly as some seem to be slightly off?
John Hietter
Yes it centers correcty. However, once when I was playing I hit a barrier and it got knocked off center. I just unplugged from the ps3 and plugged it back in and it recalibrated just fine.

hear hear!
:)

Let us stay focused on the product.

whoohoo. got it this morning.

here my noob impressions

excellent, makes my life a lot easier compared to controller. easy for throttle control, braking and smoother steering.

overall very happy. i set the ffb to 1, default 5 was way too violent for my liking. wheel literally snaps back to center when i restart a race. i can feel the car now, when it has traction or the rears are starting to lose grip.

- construction is very good, metals and plastics are solid. the wheel been on all day and not even that warm, so cooling must be pretty good. if you turn the sound off you can hear the fan(s), but when you play i don't even notice it

- ease of use - well it's just plug and play. i did remap a couple of the buttons to suit me better (ie windshield wipers etc...) i wish i could remap clutch pedal to be reverse, using the triangle button is far from ideal, either that or downshift from 1st to R

- clamp - very good, stable and doesn't move. i don't think i need to bother drilling holes in the gamepod.

- pedals - very happy and using the inverted set up. i tried the brake mod at first, but thought it was too heavy/stiff for my liking - am happy with the default brake feeling - that said if i could be swayed by a perfect pedal type mod, as long as price is not ridiculous. also i may use the included brake mod for the clutch when the shifter becomes available later this summer. also they are very stable and i haven't even hard mounted them on the gamepod.

- steering wheel is solid and i love the paddles. no prob for me, i like that they are fixed. wheel dimensions are good and i like how they feel when holding it. rubber grip is better than expected, but still i would have prefered real leather like the G27 . it is detacheable, so i hope thrustamster make add-on wheels as options - i would love a ferrari wheel in leather i haven't found a way to reduce the 1080 rotation, bit too much if you ask me, esp with some really fast cars on tight cornered street races. i guess good for drifters, but i am dreadful at that

havent tried with any other game than GT5 or on PC. drivers for PC should be out by end of jan. hopefully will be same for EA and codemaster games

overall am very pleased with it so far (except for lack of leather on steering wheel), definetly helped me be better at Gt5 in short time i have used (not surprising really after ps3 controllers) - I can't compare it to g27 or fanatec since i don't have those, but i can tell you it's miles better than the MS wheel in Forza, which really shouldn't be a surprise

just my 2cents

PS haven't done the firmware update, is it it really necessary?

congrats and thanks for the brief review of your T500RS, LunarWolf!
👍

nice to hear your comments about the wheels and pedals!

I think as we get more and more comments in we will be able to filter through the chaff and drama and get to the good stuff and not so good stuff on the T500RS.
:)

Isn't most of the heat caused by the FFB motors? Not gonna get much heat with little resistance.

still plenty of resistance, and i had it on 5 for most of the day before i switched down to 1. anyway still toying with it and getting used to it

these are bombproof.

I agree that if you have been used to the DFGT pedals, you would feel this way. They are excellent pedals. But, I think they are hardly "bombproof" and probably the weakest part of the package.

Instead of getting sharp, responsive, high-frequency road feel as in a real car, it feels dull and more like a dull thud than a crisp tick. I don't know if this is the game or the wheel and it is not really taking away from the experience but it would be nice to see sharper response in the future.

I hear this a lot when people step up to nicer wheels. I believe it is perception. Next time you are in your car, on a track or otherwise, pay attention to the feedback just the wheel is giving you. I think it will surprise you how subtle the wheel forces are...of course this depends on the car to a degree.

I have had the exact opposite experience. I am now able to stop an oversteer or instability without unrealistic amounts of force fighting me. Maybe you are talking about something else? This wheel gives me much better feel for the road than any other wheel I have used.

Lunarwolf

Congrats on being one of the first in the UK with the wheel. Nice writeup as well.
Surprised your on 1 for FFB (haa haa you big girl) but I reckon you will gradually build that up when you get more used to the wheel.

Id love to see your own thread with the cockpit and wheel.
Gamepods are really becoming popular and Ive ordered the new BK seat base to form part of my own d.i.y project.
Did you go for the GT2 EVO?

Enjoy...

thx latte.

maybe i will put ffb at 3, i don't like ffb to be too strong, i just need enough to feel the car. anyway i only tried it with a nascar, golf, nissan 350z (racing one), dodge challenger, lambo gallardo, lexus ISF concept and a volvo (small hatch), so still many cars and tracks to test. next in line is the TVR for that bonus race, i kind of dread that one tbh - may have to slap on some traction control :ouch:

i only got the GT2 i didnt go for the evo, tbh i don't really like the look esp around the head, bit ott for my taste.

you can see pics at OCUK in t500 preview thread

Had a quick look.

The wheel looks so 80s in its size, huge in side profile.
Prefer the inverted or Rally Pedal layout myself youve gone for. Did you have any alignment issue with the tread plating in changing?

Lunarwolf your GamePOD setup looks like great 👍:

I find this logic interesting... on one hand, it's true that the wheel is far less costly than real life track days, however does that in and of itself make it a great value?

I mean if a less expensive wheel gave a similar experience wouldn't it then make it a bad value?

Let's say a steakhouse charges $300 for a great steak, it might be much less expensive than growing and slaughtering your own cow, but if another steak house down the road only charges $40 for a great steak also doesn't that make the $300 steak actually NOT a good value?

I am not trying to get into a debate about whether other wheels offer a better value thant the T500 per se but rather the logic used in this particular instance to support the statement.
