What a ludicrous statement! In fact, it is Ludacris :lol:
More buttons work, the rev lights work, and the flappy paddles work. Not to mention the most important thing, it feels better.
 
That's more money than I spent on the Thrustmaster Warthog.

TM is out of their ****king minds, and so is Kaz for essentially endorsing this product.

For that price, I would just go Frex and stick with PC sims. Heck, for the price of this TM wheel/pedal combo, one could pick up a G27 and an Obutto or Playseat cockpit. I saw the G27 on sale online last week for $189.00 (or thereabouts).
 
This being the new "official" GT5 wheel is stupid in my opinion, the DFGT was perfect in a sense that it was an affordable wheel which gave realistic feedback, they should have stuck with that maybe just released an improved version or something.
 
Dapper where do you get this idea of "more buttons work"? There are 6 buttons on the face of the wheel. Only 2 of them work. G25 has 2 also. I have L3 to bring up the RA menu. People are saying you can't do this with the G25? If not, then it is less useful. Sure it may feel better. But you can't utilize the games' functions.

Im not sure(I think you typed 25 instead of 27?) about that because it is most useful for me to just map the RA function to the controller, this is for both the G25 and G27. But as for the jump from GT5p to GT5 concerning the G27- this is the ludicrous statement Dev made- I think more buttons work on the shifter, at least without trying to figure out which buttons on DFGT screen match up to the G27's actual buttons. If that isn't correct, my bad, but from when I first hooked up the G27 to the 2 games, again, this is if my memory serves me correctly, more things work in GT5 rather than GT5p.

Besides the buttons, sequential shifting can happen in GT5 and that wasn't possible in Prologue. This rendered the F2007 about useless and made many other cars very unrealistic to drive- because they have flappy paddles in real life. Nonetheless, the G27 is much more useful in GT5 than in GT5p.

For clarification, I enjoy driving, not button pushing. This means that if a wheel can perform better when it comes to actual driving then it is more useful. Also, the RA function is good for two things: brake balance, which only needs to be adjusted during a race under circumstances of extreme tire wear difference between the front and rear, and using TC as a launch control, also only needed in rare circumstances.

What are you two on about?

1) How do you know what the wheel is worth? Unless you've used one that is...

2) Do you have any idea how much a Frex SimWheel costs? Over 3 times as much. And that's before you add pedals or any addons.

Personally, I think it could fill a healthy niche in the PC sim-racing world, plenty of folks who'd like a little more performance than the Logitech/Fanatec wheels, but without the huge financial jump to Frex/ECCI. That is, if TM deliver a good wheel.

The sim-racing world is filled with people ready to drop cash, $600 is nothing compared to the thousands upon thousands of dollars lots of people drop. With that said, we're lucky to have the Logitechs and the Fanatecs. They're great for the price, and allow those with less disposable income to enjoy using a wheel to race. I just don't get why so many are complaing about the price when there alternatives at differing price-points. The DFGT is still one of the official wheels of GT5 as stated in the latest press release from PD, they've simply created another tier for those who want a wheel with premium features. Hmmm, standard and premium, now where have I heard that before? ;)

Lord only knows why they've branded it with GT and thus aimed it at the console market. I'd wager by far most of the sales, and there will be plenty, irrelevant of price, if it's a good wheel, will go to the PC sim racer market.

This wheel will not replace the DFGT..it's still the entry level wheel, and a very decent one to start in race sim.
Actually i think it's a good move, they push a little further with a very high end wheel on a console game, means to me the serie will go forward on the sim aspect.

Too expensive? buy a g25/27. Still too expensive : buy a DFGT. Theres nothing to whine about..there will be a wheel for everyone now on the market.
 
I agree, 600$ is abit ridiculous for this wheel. But for some it's not, hardcore players that is. But still, i really can't fathum that it will be 200$ better than the Fanatec GT3, or 100$ in the GT2's case, with no shifters?

Seriously, We've bought the PS3, waited for GT5, and now you want 600$ for your wheel that more than likely isn't that much better than what's out there already. I'm sorry, but no thank's.
 
Yea I kind of change my mind.......$600 is an outrage even if the price is going to drop later. But I can see this and the fanatec will go heads up against each other........
 
Yes Dapper I meant the G27, thank you. I use the DFP section to map out my G25. I'm intrigued by the 6 face buttons. Too bad PD has rendered them useless.

As for the T500rs, the only way I'll be getting one is around tax time. And that is only if it has outstanding reviews. Otherwise, I may buy a GT3rs v2 Clubsport Edition.
 
I'm worried that PD will come out with an officially supported middle range wheel (250-300$) in the following months like they did with the T500RS: by surprise.
 
I won't know how loud it is until I have one in my room lol.

You can't judge loudness on a youtube video. Nothing is normalized/calibrated.

It sounds as loud as Fanatec wheels except a lot faster. wow that wheel spin fast. This is one of the down side of Fanatec and Logitech wheel's FFB. That spin speed is getting me excited. Should be a great wheel for drifting.
 
It's much quieter when I lower the video volume..... But I agree it's really loud if I go max volume on my computer and speakers. :)

I wonder if they are able to spin it faster because of the hall sensor VS. Optical or if it's just because of ratios+motor power...
 
It seems pretty loud, let's be honest. The noise of the DFP/DFGT never bothered me though, so I don't see why this would either. I'm definitely interested in this wheel, but I certainly won't be an early adopter. curious to see what the reviews have to say.

It's nice to finally have some perspective WRT the size and spacing of the pedals, but it doesn't look very well set up for heel-toe shifting without maybe some different pedal covers. Doubt it's necessary to do so anyway, but I'd still like to just to maximize the realism.

There is no other noise in the video so it could make the wheel sound louder than normal. No doubt it will make some noise when spinning fast or rocking the wheel back and forward.

I knew it. This wheel is sooo loud :lol: There is nothing on the market that can compete with the helical gearing from the Logitech G27.

PD and Trustmaster just want to rip us off. View my older post on this forum about the T500, I knew this would happen from the beginning on. Ridiculous.

And now a tip for all serious racers out there:
Buy the G27 together with this brake mod: http://www.apelectrix.com/. This load cell is absolutely fantastic.

Can you tell us more about this load cell, and why do you like it?
 
And can someone explain to me why the body of this wheel is so big? Probably because thrustmaster was not even able to put its inferior FFB in an appropriate case?
PD should better work on full support for the G27. Now!
