yes, for that price I also want to have a perfect wheel and a not 100 % centered wheel is not perfect.. For 500 Euro I want a centered wheel, therefore I contacted the support team.. Firmware update is done but still not centered..
not good :(
but as said, in game you cant notice that the wheel isnt centered.. it is only not centered when you are not driving.. also when the wheel calibrates after starting gt5 then the wheel calibrates not centered.. :(

I am sure you can figure that one out, unless you have an old school Mac;-)

I'm not buying a copy of Windows just to install drivers. I have crossover but it normally doesn't work for installation of drivers and even if it did it is a bit of a risk so unless there is a way to update via OS X then it is a no go for me. I also have/had this problem with other products that can only be updated via windows but as of now I only have one product left that needs to be updated via windows and I am selling it for that reason. Soon I will have no products left that require updating via windows.

This might be a deal breaker for me.

Well if it is fine during driving, don't sweat it. But I can see it nagging me if I had the problem. We are all a bit insane like that:)

I hear you. Surely you can get a hold of some friend's PC for a 2 minute update? Or you could lug the wheel into the local library and install it right there...or not:odd:

Calibration problem solved by the facebook crew :)
Only have to center the wheel and press select, start and mode after starting the ps3. Now its centered correct ;)

TM should write this button combo in their support area!

From Facebook:
Start up your PS3 , let the wheel calibrate, then put your wheel in the center position and than press at the same time the button select (SE) , start (ST) and MODE and than release at the same time , do this before you start up the game GT5 .

Where are these FaceBook posts coming from? The last thing on the Thrustmaster T500rs page is pictures of the wheel & pedals mounted to an Obutto

Great! But apparently (read it on French forums) must be apply ONLY if you have not a perfect center in game. After this, new center of the wheel is save inside "Wheel Eeprom Memory" (= like a Hard Disk).

FYI my wheel centers perfectly, this is why i haven't done firmware update - don't fix it if it ain't broke

@Mister Static, you said it had PC drivers? then it works for PC sims i suppose?

Well, it installed PC drivers but I don't think they are mature or offer FFB. I did the firmware update with my laptop, not my gaming PC. So I have not tested that driver, and I will likely do nothing until an official release.

I just found it interesting that a driver installed with a nice little T500 steering wheel icon in the control panel and everything. I think it is an indicator that the PC plans are not BS.

Nat, I would be asking Frys.com exactly why it too so long to ship it out.

I can see the full FaceBook with Safari. Thanks for the heads up

I did that, and now its stuck in self calibrate mode.... it spins around and then spins back, and so on.

Would like some suggestions as I'm not sure if my wheel is defective or not. Bought it last week at Frys and just opened it tonight. Installed the firmware with no issues, however when I connect to the PS3 none of the buttons work at all. The pedals do work and the wheel will steer but nada on any button control. Is the SE/ST/Mode selection meant to have the system recognize the wheel? My PS3 is the original 60gb version. Also if you check the wheel on a PC under advanced settings for the game controller, should you see the buttons and d-pad work? Mine are not but wasn't sure due to the PC driver not being out yet.

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated!

are these problems in GT5?
is the ps3 updated to last firmware?
did you adjust wheel settings in GT5 options?

for me it was plug and play, so if above don't work, i don't know what is the issue

It should be recognizing the buttons. I didn't have to do anything special as the drivers installed themselves on PS3. It does sound defective but TM might be able to find a better solution for you.

Edit: Is it the only controller connected to your PS3?

Like lunarwolf said, make sure your PS3 is updated.

PS3 is updated to the latest level. The wheel will spin once connected to the PS3 and once GT5 has started. Once I get to the HDD OK prompt I have to switch the the normal PS3 controller to #1, press ok and then I switch it back to #2. Once in GT5 if I go into options, I can do nothing on the T500 menus. Guess it's a trip to Fry's tomorrow and hopefully they have one left to swap it out with.

Try it as the only controller, i.e. #1 ?

Appreciate the suggestions. I'm pretty sure it's defective and will exchange it. Looking forward to a fun time at Fry's for that.

If not, look at some of RC45's dismantling of the wheel face. I bet that PS/2 connector connection thing is sitting wrong or something.

(all the way back on page 114:))

Finally my Frys.com order has shipped. Placed on Jan. 8th. Shipped out Jan. 20. I hope this 619.99 "toy" is worth it. It will be!!

Mine too except I ordered on Jan 6th. I'm wondering if they got a whole bunch in this week to fill orders across a number of days. Looks like stock is starting to pick up.
