Time trials are difficult. The trial mountain with the miata is almost like a infinite hell lap.

 Any advice?

Listen for your tires.

Seriously. Any time your tires are squealing, you're losing time. Hit the brakes earlier and softer, and you should be able to get back on teh gas before the turn even starts.

Take a look at your replay, and compare it to the demo. You'll notice, that the demo uses much smoother and even inputs.

I had the most trouble between t1 and t2. A smoother turn through the tight left, amounts to so much more speed to be carried through the second and third tunnel, amounting to a better run across the back stretch.

Study the demo, as it will give you a number of clues on taking corners. With such a low powered car, you need to conserve momentum.

Good luck,

AO

You might aslo want to have a go at licence test B7? as this covers the meaty part of the lap. After eventually passing this I had no trouble with the time trial.

Actually turning ASM and TCS off is a great help.
I hardly did a 1'48.5 having them on. Then I switched them off and my time dropped to 1'46.3 in three more attempts...
It's a pity if you can't turn those ****ing traction control systems off on the NTSC version. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

It always pfazinates me how different trials seem to suit different people, like for instance I breezed through this one but had real troubles with others like the Elise one and I still havent completed the bloody complex string:banghead:  .

Anyhoo back to the subject I found a very important place on this trial is the corner just before the first tunnel, get the right line and you can carry real speed through there and keep it smooth through the corner before the downhill bit as well, as Der Alta said preserve momentum.
But good luck anyway:D

Do a search on the GT3 forum for "TT10". I did a writeup of my passing lap, section by section. It's not a great time but the advice may help.

are you using Manual transmission? I typically drive Auto(or semi-auto by preventing downshift), but, when I needed to get that xtra seconds of time cut, particularly on a low HP car, switching to Manual got me over the hump.

I always found the Laguna Seca TT (Dodge Viper) to be the hardest... Man I slaved away on that one. I liked the Tokyo 246 TT (Honda S2K), 2nd try and I go first :p
