Figured I would incoporate the generation number for these guys! :D
I also decided to trim down the list because IMO the last list had a few too many.

Holden

Kingswood [HQ] 5.0L Sedan '71

Holden Dealer Team

Commodore [VC] Group C Sedan '80
As regards to the model quoted for the HQ it is not "the best of the breed" or the most significant.IMO the-SS [HQ] sedan, Monaro GTS 350 [HQ] coupe & Monaro GTS 350 sedan are the best of the breed.

As far as the [VC], I thought it was only called a HDT Commodore, not a group C??????

-> I would think except the Retro One, all of them are race cars.

~> (I'm drunk dude! [9 jagerbombs!])! Sorry guys! :boggled:

And we already have the best Monaros in there (HK, the best looking, and HT, the fastest) thankyou very much. I want the 4 door Kingswood, life isn't all about fast coupes you know. This was the family car that changed the Aussie automotive landscape.

Psst, the SS was the 5.0L, I must have left that part out.:dunce:

The VC wasn't a Group C, my typo- sorry!

Nah, they were all road cars. Homologation specials most of the time, but road cars.

^ I would like to know on which part of the VWL needs revising. I'm being more and more careful on entering these vehicles as I add it in. What is it do I have to revise? You can PM me if your unable to share it here. :)

I just think that would be easier to slim down the earlier wish list than to start completely from scratch. It's like taking all that work and throwing it away. I really think you should have taken 5.0 and slimmed, trimmed, and improved it instead of starting from scratch. Because frankly, I'm not motivated enough to post all of those cars I wanted all over again, and I'm sure many other people aren't. It's a great idea to start fresh, but with a constantly moving and expanding list like the VWL, it just doesn't work. I would suggest taking a good look at 5.0, taking out any unnecessary cars/cars not really wanted, and fixing any mistakes. But that's just me.

On an off-topic note, why is it that whenever I see your username in the members currently online list or members currently viewing this thread list, there's always a + after it?

:-)

blinky77-> I got your Lotus Sport confirmed thru research. I might add more Lotus Sport cars in the process besides your two Exige's you've listed. :)

nd 4 holden spd-> All your Holden's are on my log with links to pics ready to be posted in. Once I posted these cars, could you please double-check if these cars are correct according to those pics, thanks! :)

buickgnx88-> I already copied your Camaro list on my log waiting to be verified. I also have a handy list of Camaros back in V5.0 that I may add it in. :)

^ Well said statement there dude. However, I tried to attempt that back in V5.0, it was a very tedious job and frustrating at the same time. There were so many false informations, duplicates and at the same time, trying to jot down requests from posters. If I closed V5.0 for request just to revise the whole list would take me more than 1 year just to revise the whole thing. I work 6 days a week and also go to school, so my time for revising/slimming down V5.0 is slim to none. This reason was because of past dudes who were in charge with the WL that accumulated these cars over time. :indiff:

-> On the brighter side of things, I tend to slowly transfer the cars from V5.0 as you can see as time progresses. It really does help me a lot transfering these cars and re-verifying it. Some of your cars are there, I just have to search for it. It is really not just throwing all away, it is more of a filtration/distilled process of conjuring these cars from V5.0 to V5.5. :)

-> I would like to set an example that this WL is no BS. I also tend to educate people that there is so many interesting cars around the world, not just the ones we already know. :)

Let me see......you requested a HQ bottom spec Kingswood over a HQ SS (4 door "sedan") only ever called an SS and only eva came with a 253 V8........ or even a HQ Monaro GTS 350 4 Door (yes thats right they did exsist!) would have been better.

Also I beleive that The Holden Dealer Team manufacturer designation doesnt apply to
Commodore [VC] Sedan '80
Commodore [VK] SS Group A Sedan '84
Commodore [VL] Calais LE 3.0L Turbo Sedan '86

as they should be under Holden. They were never called HDT.

Also Commodore [VC] Sedan '80 should read Commodore [VC] HDT Sedan '80.

Pfew, now I know what TVB must feel like:nervous:

Fine, use the Monaro 4 door.............I still want the Kingswood though.

All those cars were HDT vehicles, the HDT versions.

What im saying is there is no such thing as a "HQ SS kingswood" only a "HQ SS" or a "HQ Kingswood" and if you want the Kingswood its the Poverty pack/base model going against rules.
HDT was licenced under Holden ie Holden Commodore [VK] SS Group A was built by HDT but "still sold as a Holden. Do you agree?

The SS was based off the same car as a Kingswood though, so either way it doesn't matter. The Kingswood was actually the mid-range model, and apart from the SS, the top model was a luxury model, so the Kingswood is kind of the better one in that sense. Aside from that, I just like the Kingswood. As I said it was quite a mile stone in Australian family cars. (Plus we used to own one.:P)

If HDT gets filed under Holden, then so would HSV. HDT was run by Peter Brock, and today as well they are their own company. It was Brock's "Polariser" that separated Holden and HDT ties, so if that doesn't show 2 separate companies........ It'd be like Toyota separating with their styling department because the Camry sucks if they were the same company. HDT was replaced by HSV, they were their own brand more or less.

I dont understand your how the kingswood was a milestone???? The HQ model itself was a milestone as it was Holdens biggest seller until knocked off by the Commodore (VT I think?), but I guess as you say "either way it doesnt matter " because every PERFORMANCE model (SS & Monaro GTS 350 4 Door) was based off a Kingswood.......Btw an original SS is probably worth @ $ 25000-50000, your beloved Kingswood......dime a dozen!!!! ( I think that sayes it all)

HSV is, you'll find classed as separate manufacturer (I think even on the build plate of the vehicle)...so no I wouldnt file HSV under Holden (my cousins get very pissed off when you call their car a holden:sly:). As for the whole history of why HDT split up and who owns it now, it doesnt change the fact that the cars where always sold as a Holden.

I was under the impression the Kingswood was the best selling of the HQs? Oh well, I'm only a '90 model myself so some of these things are a little before my time.;) Maybe we could have the 3.3L Kingswood, they have an entire racing series dedicated to the 3.3L Holdens of yore.

So we'd have all the old school HDTs filed under Holden, and any new ones under HDT? We need a separate manufacturer as HDT for the new VE VC Retro, why not put all the other HDT cars in there too?

To cut it short, I just want:
The old Mini
Ford Escort (mk1, mk2, mk3, mk4, up to the last one released)(Also a few differemt engine sizes) also some estate models.
Ford Capri 1.6l
Ford Capri (3.something litre - can't remember exactly)
Ford Sierra, cossworth, estate, 4wd, rwd variations)
Morris Minor
Some older rovers - before 2002...

I want these to be avalible for all regions, and if not, just PAL :D

For me it just wouldnt be acurate to put cars where they shouldnt be, whilst also looseing any last bit of credibility left in the wish list. The new HDT's (love the Retro VH thats been shown) would effectively come under a tuner title I would guess.

As for the Kingswoods, mate it just doesnt represent the best of the breed (i meen performance car- SS/Monaro GTS not luxury spec Premier) and I thought this new list was trying to weed out the insignificant models so we dont end up with 10 HQ holdens just because their dad owned one. Besides they also have 1 make VR Commodore (crap berlina V6's mostly) racing but I dont think that would automatically qualify that car on the list.

Crap Berlina V6's? Buick 3.8Ls are awesome mate, don't diss them.:scared:
So this list is all about performance cars, and not significant cars?

BTW, where did you see the retro VH? All I've seen is the Retro VC.:scared:

Yes, in the right car and in the right configaration Buick V6's are awsum....I just dont think a VS berlina V6 :yuck: deserves a spot on this wish list.

The retro VH has been advertised in the latest issue of Australian Muscle Car Magazine (best factual mag on everything Aussie muscle) and I have to say looks "off its tits". Tryin to convice my wife for a VE SS (family car) atm but if she agrees to it I dont see any chance of getting the retro bit done to it as she recons a stock SS is already a bit flash:grumpy:

No, you're right, but maybe an HSV SV3800 is a bit more sensible........:dopey:

Good luck with the VE SS, tell your wife that the retro bit is less flash, tell her you know cars and it's less flash.:sly:

I like the SV3800 and I think Holden brought out a Superchargered version too (cant remember in what spec but...maybe VR Calais???). On the VE SS thing.....I already lied to her about the last car I bought (88 R31 GTS-X) telling her that because its a 2 litre (RB20DET 6 cylinder Turbo) it doesnt waste much fuel. Problem is when you drive it on full boost all the time, it drinks like a V8.lol . The VE SS will be hers to drive my daughter around and do he general duties, so the selling point will have to be that is got more space for the baby seat and shopping than her current Pulsar. Fingers crossed.

hey if Dodge can create a V10 that reportedly gets 22mpg then V8s don't have to drink gas like crazy...only American V8s do that for the most part. Although, Audi's lovely V8 went from getting like 25-30mpgs to around 19 when Spyker mid mounted it. But then again, Sypker is a Netherlands company and they cost about 2 to 4 times as much as an Audi. Anyways, good luck on the car selection, unv.

HSV XU6 in VT/VX spec? I think th HSV wishlist is coming soon, and the SV3800 will be on it.;)

US V8s are the most fuel economic thanks to their tall gears (which they can overcome with huge torque, so short gears aren't really needed). You used Dodge as an example then claim US can't get good fuel economy?

mate, do these different models have a chassis code or am i right in beleiving that the year models are the only way of telling them apart? Btw love the car selections, its fun learning about the less mainstreem US stuff:tup:

As far as I know there aren't different codes for different years, I believe they were all on a chassis called the J-body.

The three gens are
1='82-'87
2='88-'94
3='95-'05
with 3 designs for gen 3
design 1='95-'99
design 2='00-'02
design 3='03-'05
:)

Agree with unv412, nice choices, I like Cavaliers. It'd be nice to have at least one sedan in that selection intstead of them all being coupes, for example with the '99 Z24, which looks great as a sedan (the car on the link is a 2002 model but it's basically the 99 shape, I think I'm right in saying).

If you want to add a sedan, go right on ahead! I just chose what I wanted. :sly:
