On a different note - didn't we hear when GT4 was being made - that they took more info than necessary on the cars so that they could create the best model possible - then optimise that down to PS2 levels...

That says to me - that the data would be even better than the PS3 can handle - and again optimised down to PS3 levels... thus all the cars (Exterior) in GT4 should be easily ported across to PS3 via a fairly automated process...

Therefore all they would need to do is to remodel the interior for these cars?

I'm still of the opinion that 170 cars have interior damage... and the rest have interiors...

I strongly suspect that no "real life" car will have interior damage... and that the interior damage will be for "Racing cars" - as previously hinted at before but possibly taken out of context/translation.

why don't you want cars from GT4?

The 80's and 90's was when it was all happening in the car world.
People who don't want cars from Gt4 are those who know nothing about cars or are members here who are probably under the age of 15. IMO.

+1 👍

Indeed.

I think I couldn't live with myself if I was forced to buy something other than an 80's Japanese car as a first in GT5 :)

The cars in GT4 were modelled by the designers with 4-5000 polygons. There is a chapter about it in "GT: Driving the game", there is no mention of over-doing it and then downscaling, the 3D artists state it as being the real trick, "how do we draw these things accuratley with only 4000 polygons, you have to know where to focus the design". Thats not to say that it wouldn't give them a considerable headstart when 're'modelling the cars for GT5.

I think its all been translated wrong. It probably means like has been said only 170 cars will have interior damage models, and all the others will have damage and cockpit view. It also probably means some cars will be ones that were in GT4 but they will not be the same models.

Some translaters translate it as 170 cars will have interior decoration.

Isn't there anyone here who can read japanese? :D

I noticed something:

at the end where he crashes into the blocks on the left side, on of them moves and is being thrown onto the track.

Tokyo looks beautiful, so does the Subaru. Theres a 370z there at the start of the video.

Trees good enough? :p

Is it me, or since the first impact, it appeared that the car was pulling to the right so slightly for the rest of the lap, looked like he had to correct what he was doing down the straights. could just be my eyes decieving me.

There i not cockpit damage (i dont' know if there is supposed to be any damage in cockpit taken by the small crash in the video) so this subaru should be part of the 830 cars not premium, but it has cockpit.. so i think 170 damage+ cockpit+ damage cockpit e and 830 with damage + cockpit.

10 cars is race specific I guess.
No damage in the interior, we can't see the car from a 3th person view so we don't know if it's got exterior damage.

Great catch!!! the subaru crashes and as it back up the door is flung open en shut when he accelerates away!

Awesome footage!
