But 20 tracks is not enough! It will mean that they leave 30 GT4 track locations out of the game, some of which has been in every GT game. 👎

Why do you guys think that GT5 have less tracks on PS3 than PSP? If PSP have 35 tracks and 70 variations, so i think that we see at least this amount of tracks on PS3 or more.

What are you saying?

That it's not just 20, but over 20. Meaning it coul dbe any number. KY did not say an exact number. But that will surely come in the coming weeks at TGS.:)

people keep forgetting it was written MORE THAN 20 Courses and MORE THAN 60 Layouts, which could theoretically mean 100000 tracks and 1000000000000 variations. My personal view is it's an attempt to hide the actual number, but still give info that would no doubt be asked for.

In my opinion, its is ... questionable to argue that anyone would say "more than 20 tracks" when it actually is 100. Technically, of course 100 is "more than 20" and therefore correct, by why wouldn't they say "100 tracks" in the first place?

On the other hand, seriously proposing that GT5 will only feature 20 and a few tracks is questionable as well. I am aware that all tracks had to be re-modeled in HD for the game, but just by looking at how many tracks we have in Prologue, 20 would be ridiculous.

Now, I won't have a guess at how many tracks we will see (because it would just be a guess), but I would bet money it will be much more than 20. I think that this question, just as the one with the number of cars and their features, is a problem of phrasing and translation.

Yes Sir! 👍

We don't know if the info PD gave was correct. But when translated propperly, that's what it read.

Maybe they want to surprise us, or keep the opposition in the darkness? Or maybe licences haven't been nailed down, or maybe tracks are still being modeled and might not make it into Spec I.... who knows?

20 locations doesn't seem right at all. Heck, lets list the ones that we're at least fairly sure are in:

Le Mans
Nurburgring
Indy
Daytona
Fuji
Suzuka
Tokyo R246
Madrid
London
HSR
Rally Japan
Rally Toscana
Tsukuba
Motegi
Top Gear Test Track
Bern
Eiger
Monaco
Laguna Seca
Infineon
Grand Valley
Trial Mountain

Thats 22 right there, granted a few are unconfirmed but it would be shocking if they weren't there (Grand Valley and Trial Mountain have been in every main GT game and I highly doubt HSR would be the ONLY "classic" circuit in-game)

According to the "winds" there will be almost 96 tracks. I have no idea if that's including layouts or not though.

The likelihood that Gran Turismo 5 will only have 20 or even 60 tracks is very low.

Remember, this is the game that Kazunori Yamauchi said would "set the new industry standard" for racing games.

Here is why I believe him:

  • 1,000 vehicles
  • The game is on a dual-layer Blu-Ray disc - that's 50GB of data! 100+ tracks is not out of the question; even with all the other stuff stored on the disc
  • NASCAR, WRC and other yet-to-be-revealed racing modes
  • TGS [need I say more?]
  • Polyphony Digital's dedication to providing the best racing game on the planet. Period.
  • Weather [rain and snow] are highly likely and would make this the perfect racing simulation
  • Night racing is a guarantee as well

From the details I translated, I am impressed - but not overwhelmed.....yet.

To create a racing game that even the modest Yamauchi-san would say is going set the new industry standard, I expect a lot more to be revealed at the TGS. Weather and night racing are two of the biggest fan requests and aside from the release date, announcing those 2 features at the TGS would set the stage for the total domination of the racing genre when it's [hopefully] Christmas release arrives.

What if they announce other great things at the TGS? Things like Drag Racing, a Livery Editor, custom body-kits and the like?

Add all the aforementioned things together with what we all saw in that translated spec sheet and you have the greatest racing game ever made, period.

i dont believe gt5 has 20 tracks Prologue has 6 tracks...Kazu said GT5p fifteen percent of GT5

If 20 is correct then PD have got this completely the wrong way round for my tastes. I'd take a game with 64 cars and 100 tracks over one with 20 tracks and 1000 cars every time.

I would rather have more tracks! I know i would drive all of the tracks, but i probably will not collect all of the cars!

Im not even considering the game coming out with 20 tracks... its obvious there is a misinterpretation and the will be 80 in total.

20 tracks does seem terribly unlikely and could have something to do with why the info was taken down just a few hours later. The only really scary thing is that they might have decided to just include 20 and then gouge the fanbase with DLC tracks. It's unlikely and purely speculation, just something that does come to mind. Though with 1000 cars, that seems pretty generous so, again, very unlikely.

With all this hype around GT5, and the intolerable waiting for a release date, I've just heard a song, and it's a proper blast from a GT3 past... seemed kinda appropriate...

all of my life, where have you been,
I wonder if I'll ever see you again,
and if that day comes, I know we could win,
I wonder if I'll ever see you again..
