Still working my way through the manufacturers, now up to Honda, last night I ran the NSX Gr.3 a couple of times at Sardegna (didn't win, it's slow!) then bought the Honda Sports VGT. Tuned down to 600PP (200kg ballast and power down to around 84% to hit 600.00PP exactly) it absolutely flies considering it's only got 386hp! I was topping out at around 286kph on the straight but it's got more than enough fuel to go the distance and SH tyres didn't even start to show wear until around lap 8! I ran a fuel save strategy to start off, on FM3 for most of the lap, but FM1 from the final chicane to the start/finish line then back to FM3 for the rest of the lap. From lap 7 I ran FM2 the whole lap, then the last three laps were FM1 all the way and I finished with 0.3 laps left in the tank! I only narrowly won (6 seconds from Kokubun) with a total time of 27:36, but it was actually a really fun car to drive around Tokyo! I'll be having another run in it tonight just to see if I can extract a little more out of it and reduce my average lap time and fastest lap.

Question: has anyone tried the Honda 2x4 at Tokyo? It's only got 200-ish hp but it's less than 500kg, so must be pretty quick overall - but is it fast enough to bother here??

The engine swapped Crown can finish the race on RH tyres without stopping. The first lap is dodgy. The rear gets happy easily with too much throttle. Lap 2 is ok but after that it's actually some good and fun driving.

Thanks for this idea! The swapped Crown is a great car for this track. I used to race it a lot at the Le Mans 700 grind, but hadn’t driven it for a long time because Tokyo is basically all I do now…
I modified Praiano’s tune with a little less aero, reduced power and SH tyres. Easy no-stop cruise with 2:12 laptimes.

I'm late to the party, I only started running this race yesterday. Running through my list of Favourited cars, starting with those requiring no tuning (except for a couple of dabs on the Power Restrictor).

I have wins with:

  • SLR Mclaren 2009
  • GTR 2017
  • Viper GTS 2013

Add AMG GT-S 2015 this list
All stock, all on SH with one stop for fuel but not changing tyres.

Looking forward to spending some of the credits on tuning up a few lesser cars to compete

Is this a glitch set up?Its just with all the upgrades and RS the pp seems very low.
My thought exactly, but i wasn't sure how many pp the stock car has. I do remember though, that i tried the Civic before and it was way too slow, so his 310kph on the straight got me surprised.

Stock is 530pp ish. When i tried it it was no good on the straight,as you discovered.Im pretty much done with glitch cars, you get used to grinding with them and pd takes away the fun. I`ll still use them if they are interesting ones but pretty much i take it or leave it,my goto cars tend to be the R33,the engine swap Delta and stock motor version, the R8 plus the Pantera to break it up a bit. There are a few others to break up the monotony, the Celica is another pretty good one.

quick YT search couldn't find a glitch tune fpr the civic, so, who knows.

@mynameis66
Ok, so i just tried it, and it really is a glitch tune. Downforce 67 is 750ish PP 68 is 564 PP for me.

you need wide body and Front and Side Custom Part A. And then the tune from his video (last few seconds)

It's the wrong thread for this, but it works and should be a fast drive.

Couple of more cars to add to my "Stock, SH, 1 Stop" Tokyo collection:

  • Diablo GT
  • Citroën GT Road Car

These two required me to watch the fuel, which I haven't done so far. Especially the Lambo (thanks 5-speed gearbox).

A bunch of Toyota's.

The Crown safety car doesn't allow the engine swap. It's a little more work but it's still a win.

Standard and engine swapped Yaris. I Still can't get my head around stuffing a 2J into a Yaris.

The 86 Limited is engine swapped. A LT V8 in a 86 doesn't make sense either. I Miss placed the timing sheet somehow, will find it and and update the post.

FT-1 has good power but it lacks top speed because there is no adjustment on the tranny.

SF-R was a nice surprise.

GR 86 RZ was another nice surprise.

Han took the win in his home race with his GR Supra RZ '19.

I tried the Hyundai Genesis Coupe last night. It's quick enough in a straight line, but I didn't manage to tame it enough to make it dependable through the esses, ended up 2nd by 4s. Then I tried to tune it myself and made it worse... Anyone got a tune for the Genesis Coupe??

Sorry can't help on tuning(not a good tuner), I prefer focusing on driving and I think it'll benefit more if you want to try different cars
This was the car when i did the "Minimal upgrade challenge" a few pages back
(The run was freshly done)

There is about 20pp spare for upgrades you prefer

Wow, that's like 100hp less than I've got and my lap times aren't a lot better! Maybe I just need to tame the tune a little and spend more time with the car trying to adjust my driving to it's personality!

I tried again last night, managed to tame the car and get it turning reliably now... but still, lost by 3s in the end. Mainly down to silly mistakes costing me time in the long run, but I'm struggling to win with this car!

Anyone tried the 3 new cars in here? Are they decent for farming tokyo? I only tried the bmw m2 in one of those new races in the update, and its quite an animal. Curious to know how it behaves in tokyo.

RS 500

I Couldn't resist. It's nice, really nice. It has surprisingly good fuel economy. I Will still tinker with the tune because the rear is a little loose for my liking.

Being a BMW fan the M2 was a no brainer to try. I turned down the power to fit IM tyres so it suffers some top speed on the straight. On the rest of the track it is amazing.

Did they remove the Clean Race Bonus from Tokyo 600 with this update? Just finished the race with my brand new M2 Competition and received only the 550k credits without bonus. Nothing special happened during the race. Sure, some bumps and scratches but no yellow flags or big crashes…

I recognized the same Issue. I got the 825k every time since I do Tokyo.

Today I tried three times. First two "as always". The third time really carefully (not more than two small scratches, no contact to other cars and in sum 15 seconds slower as usual) .
Always for 550k.

A bit of a premise: since we're going to have 1.14 pretty soon, I thought I'd try my hand on this event without a pp exploit since I'm guessing PD will patch it in the upcoming update, but I've soon found out this race is a somewhat though nut to crack, for multiple reasons, the first being: this is a drying track. As S-10 taught, those conditions are extremely sketchy to race on, and on a track like this with fast corners (turns 3 and 4 come to mind) you can be sure that once one of your wheels slightly grazes the water, you either meet Barry R or miss him by a few millimeters. So, if you make a mistake, this track punishes you for it. Positive note, at least the track won't worsen the more time goes on.
Second, if you do meet Barry R, getting a 5 seconds penalty that can ruin your race is something you need to be careful of, especially once your tires start to wear out in the last bits of the race, or you need to overtake an ai in this narrow street circuit. I legit had to restart more than once because said penalties ruined my race, and I can tell you, throwing 20 minutes of my time out of the window was not fun. You can still win the race if you get one penalty, but you're going to have lots of traffic to deal with.
Third, unlike the WTC 800 or 700, in which the ai uses cars you can easily outpace (for example, by detuning respectively a gr.2 or gr.3 car), here your car's performance will be roughly the same as the ai's, which makes this race the most skill based imo out of all the three grind options available as of 1.13 (again, unless you are using a pp exploit, in which case this race is a cakewalk). In my case, I tuned up a widebody Corvette C7 that was sitting in my garage unused, and it turned out to be a fast car indeed for the event, but the ai was able to keep up with my pace without major problems, which was surprising to say the least. Obviously you can still overtake it easily in some spots, f.e outbreaking it on turn 1, 5, and on the last corner (turn 13 iirc) + everywhere else on the track whenever you can, but it does have pace here.
Fourth, car selection: I would usually win easily these WTC 600 events with my RCZ gr.3 road car because of its far superior handling, but on this track, handling doesn't really matter if your car if 40 km/h slower than the ai on that massive straight per lap, so I had to resort to something else, and the Corvette mentioned above was the right car for the job. Some other cars I think would be good for this race could be the Audi TTS or the Mercedes 45 AMG, but I've yet to try them (or any other 4wd car for the matter, you can never get enough grip on this track in these wet conditions).
So, yeah, overall I'd recommend everyone to give this race a try without pp exploit at least once before update 1.14, you are going to have a fun half an hour of racing and you can also prepare yourself for when the exploit will be patched to grind money on this track, hope this post was useful for some people ^_^
...here are mine setups that I used for Tokyo 600PP without exploits! Probably some of those setups need a bit changes since physics have changed and PP was changed, but all of them were done without exploits, and some are really hard but... :)

I did one race now, crashed into the wall once, no bonus.

Guess you can still wallride without penalty, but won't get bonus. Maybe its a bug and we never get it now, or maybe need to really do clean races.

Yep. I did another race with a different car to check wether it was a bug maybe with the new cars, but a race with again just some minor bumps gave me just the 550k.
