They need a city map

I'd love some kind of vaguely open testing area, recreating real life test centres, with a large oval, and in the centre of it all manner of things, open spaces for sliding about, cobble roads, test track, the lot. That would be dreamy for me.

Oh yeah! They should also include maps from Gears of War and Battlefield 3 so you can drive around, and on those maps should be the Mega Man saga playing out as you drive around! Also, it would be cool if there were a Millenium Falcon that you could pilot if you wanted to fly to and dock with the Enterprise.

GT is GT...why do so many people want GT to be something that it isn't?

Its called adding new features... 💡
I wonder if they will add cspec to gt5 or wait til gt6.

That was before GT5 got released, that layout wouldn't be possible for the actual SSR5 track, although some keep bringing that often. But in my opinion a bigger "Special Stage City" track without barriers, going beyond SSR5, SSR11 (and SSR7) would be even better.

PD should go to Genki and purchase the rights to use the Shutoku Highway System. They already modelled it.

That's what I would like to see, these Special Stages are basically based off it, is it not?

The last version was Import Tuner Challenge for the 360, which showed a HD version of it minus the infamous Wangan Line.

Speaking of all this free roam stuff, we need Driving Park back, I could really use that open concrete area to practice FR no assists racing wheel driving, what I need is a place where I can take a car to its limits. I sometimes use the top gear track for it, but it's not wide enought

I always thought that the original gymkhana had a lot of potential. I was waiting for a bigger version of it in GT5.

And you're right, TGTT is the best place to go nuts with your car, but it would be good that at least they take out the invisible walls and unlock the whole runway.

That would be really awesome of PD if they did that. Don't some of the license tests use more, if not the whole runway?

I actually agree with this though. A free roam place might be nice, but GT5 needs more racing tracks.

I actually think we need free roam. Kaz said somewhere that he plans on starting on something like that soon, and that was months ago. Maybe it's already in the works?

More tracks are coming, and we know this so that's not a worry. I just think free roam would really make GT5 complete (if it's done right). After all it is the ultimate DRIVING simulator lol.

Me, I'd prefer city/street tracks than racetracks. An entire city at night time to freely roam? That would be a dream for me!

Rome, Madrid, Tokyo, London and New York would all be good places (as city circuits have been made already before in GT)

I don't understand what the correlation would be between this and a racing simulator. To cruise aimlessly, just to cruise? I admit, I love playing the traffic game in Grand Theft Auto, but GT5 was designed by racers, for racers. This would be an unnecessary aspect of the game, and would need a separate disc altogether to pull off. At least in my opinion, that is.

Being that this game puts a lot of focus on being able to collect a lot of cars, a free roam would be nice. You could cruise around online and see all kinds of different cars. You know, the ones that you have no reason to drive otherwise? Then you could do street light drags, follow the leader... whatever you want really... Could be very fun. Could suck too though, look at TDU2...

I honestly believe a game with the physics, graphics, and car selection of a GT game coupled with the free roam concept and city maps like midnight club could be one of the greatest games of all time. Of course there would still have to be a gt mode with all the regular circuits, but picture a city where you could cruise your gorgeous new 458 or whatever around town and then open it up for a freeway pull from 60-150. You could drive to the dealerships to purchase new cars and the garage for upgrades and oil changes. Implicating it would be a huge undertaking and would probably require a next gen system of processing, but I would pay almost any price within reason for that game. /end text wall

Maybe they can start a partnership. Imagine GTA game play with GT5 physics. Greatest game in gaming history!

I'm imaging playing that game in seconds per frame. GTA IV framerate is a fickle mistress, even on a high-end PC. Console framerate is shake, but quality is sucky.

From a technical standpoint, cities are a huge pain. The city courses in GT5 look so good because they're linear. Like most FPS games have become a line of corridors (though that's equally about design) in order to run on current consoles, tracks like London and Tokyo only look so good because they're linear.

Of course with the right tech, it might be possible to have a section the size of Tokyo or SSR5 playable, with all roads in that bounded area, but you'd lose 15-20% graphical quality. Add in traffic, and the'd be more.

If you were going to get a city in GT6 (assuming PS3), then Tokyo R246 is about as big as you're going to get. Madrid could be expended outward a bit, London expanded all directions maybe twice as much. Rome, perhaps, could be filled in, though it doesn't appear to have enough decent sized roads for anyone to bother.

Yes a city map would be good, but unless they add traffic and stuff it would be a sterile environment.

Back a while ago, I made a thread on how people would make their SS city. It was a great thread while it lasted, and we almost got to connecting SSR5 and 11. Btw, did anyone notice that in the tunnel at SSR5, there's a sign next to another road leading out of the tunnel that say Tetrapit 7?

Driving in a City is soooo boring. :)
If PD ever creates a sandbox, I hope they settle it in a nice landscape....or a mix of both environments, like TDU did.

The islands of TDU 2 with GT 5 Physics, GT 5 Garage and overall GT 5 feeling would be awesome!

*dreaming*

Wasn't there a rumour about this called C-spec?

Anyway I think PD should definitely look into this with all the free run and cop rooms.
I have always thought that was a certainty because occasionally when you start up GT it brings you with an animation of cars going through a white, modelled, fictitious (?) city.

All of these and especially the last sentence. Free roam in a game like this, with AI traffic, cruising with friends, enjoying the city or countryside, would be absolutely EPIC.
