Things you would like to see in GT5 other than cars?

Why is damage such a popular issue? You can go wreck your car and get pissed off about paying for it in real life. Why would you want to do that in a game? Maybe they could add rush hour traffic too. That's a real life aspect that is missing from the game. Hell they have a Honda Odyessy why not have a race called "car pool line after soccer practice"? I'm not trying to insult anyone here but I guess I don't understand the popular demand for damage. If someone could enlighten me as to why they want to see damage in the game, that would be awsome. Personally I'm more worried about the GT series putting the qualifing back in for every race. Though I do think tire blow outs and mechanical break downs might be appropriate.

If you want to have the best driving simulation game ever , i don t want to see fastest laps done by cutting chicanes or use walls to not lose speed ... this is like in football people playing FIFA(BURKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK  ) or/and PES
Awesome 👍

This game is wonderful but that makes me laugh a lot , i understand it s only a game meant to be FUN , but when i see GRAN TURISMO the REAL DRIVING simulation , let me laugh .....

That s why i want an option "with damages", u don t like damages put it off :)

BTW ipod compatibility is the better idea EVER ......

I HATE GT4 MUSIC , a pain in the ass

i think that when you are tuning cars up and you put a stage 4 turbo on it that you should be able to buy an anti-lag system like they have on world rally cars, so it can cut out all the lag created by the turbo. would also make more flames come out of the exhaust aswell:D

RaceGuy why would you want Turn signals? This is racing not the open road.

Somebody else in this thread mentioned it and I thought it would make a cool little addition-certainly not necessary, but it'd make the road cars a little more realistic perhaps.

I was thinking more along the lines of the signals ALMS cars and F1 cars have to use when entering the pits, etc. Perhaps something to use in celebration of a victory as well-just little quirks that I think would be nice. :)

wow , i really like it when i put my idea's down and then other people get the credit for it:mad:                         🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬

see!!!

to be honest no damage makes the game more unique and why does everybody want it anyway? PD would do an incredible damage model were if you hit a wall at 50 mph your car would be ****ed and you would not be able to race that car until you pay to get it repaired and then what will the thread on gt5 be ,
"DAMAGE MODEL ON GT5 SUCKS" and then everybody starts *****ing and to be honest i dont give a **** about damage , i would rather see something like better car sounds , a paint shop for your cars , online play and the ability to link it up to a PC and use 3d modelling software to make new cars and tracks and a website were you could download them of a website and onto your ps2 or ps3 (gt5 would be on the ps3) and that would keep me happy , the ability to download cars and create your own and use them in gt5 when it comes out would shut everyone up who wants more cars and in a way i guess if PD did that for gt5 it would be taking a leaf out of microsofts book with download packs of more cars and tracks like they did with PGR2

Oh and another thing that really bugs me (as I'm a Brit!):

Less of the Japanese cars, and more of the US and Euro cars please. It's fair to ask for an EQUAL balance of cars in the used car lots, and also available to buy in general. Obviously researching and modelling Japanese cars is alot easier and cheaper than others because of the logistics involved; but listen Polyphony Digital - DON'T GET COMPLACENT! One day a new racing sim will hit the shops that addresses ALL our complaints. Get there before them.

yeah i am an aussie and i wish they would put some more Aus cars and American cars. i cant believe it, there was only less than ten American events, for both manufacturers and the event stadium put together, now that is CRAZY  . And Ford - no manufacturer events???????????????? that is so stupid, Ford is one of the oldest car manufacturers ever and they do not have any events for it???? and they have events dedicated to the ****box Dai****inghatsu Midget and Copen. WTF???

And I cant believe that there is only 5 Australian cars, well only 4 new ones anyway. those cars in GT4 are not the fastest Aus have made, there is the HSV Clubpsort R8, here are some stats:

0-100km/h (60mph) - 5.1 seconds
0-400m - 14 seconds @ 169km/h (105mph) (autos will do it in 13.3 seconds)
0-1000m - 24.88 seconds @ 223km/h (138mph)
Top speed 270km/h (168mph) (274km/h auto)

297kw (398bhp) 6.0L V8 engine @ 6000rpm 530NM of torque @ 4400rpm

it is an extremely fast car and should have been included in GT4, if they are going to include daihatsus and volvos in the game, why not some more Aussie cars, there are plenty like the Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo   and the XR8 Falcon, (the SS Commdores main rival) and what about some utes??

Damage would have to be optional

You're right there. i reckon having a complete damage system in GT5 would be awesome. and to help those who are worried about losing a 24hour enduro because they crashed in the last minute, why not add the ability to control the severity of the damage e.g. nothing to strong (equaling the effects in real life)?

And if people are worried about paying huge bills for damage, they could either turn damage off or simply not smash into the walls at 200mph. This definately beats the damn 5 sec. penalties for things that are not your fault like the opposition knocking you into a wall, or turning into YOU.

Might not be very popular here, but maybe mechanical breakdowns would be more realistic. Engine failures, punctures, gradual losses of power so u gotta pit to repair it etc. Cud be quite annoying at the end of Le Mans 24h tho!
More popular= pit to car radios telling u more about the race & the state of yer tyres & fuel...
MUCH BETTER AI with some awareness of whats around them! Also, mebe compulsary prices to enter championships like Cr 25k to enter Le Mans 24h

I'm sure they've been mentioned before, but here's what I'd like to see:

1: Ability to watch B-Spec races from the drivers screen at 3x speed, if the replays can be done at hi-speed, why can't these? Sometimes I'd just like to watch the race rather than watch a letter circle the track
2: Less car variations. I mean, do we really need 20 differant variations and varieties of Evos and Skylines? Pick 3 or 4 differant variations and include more cars from the rest of the world.
3: A non-shaky screen, especially at start and sometimes throughout the race, if we're supposed to be seeing the cars through a heat plume, then why do the race times, lap number, et all, shake?
4: Ability to change cars anywhere but your garage. If I'm waiting to enter a race and I have the wrong version of the the 1991 Skyline I want to be able to switch with out having to access 12 differant screens to do it - ever count how many controller clicks you go through to get from the tune shop in America to get to the last race of the professional circuit?
5: Tune on the fly, from any screen, any race. I want to be able to adjust the shock bound while on lap 212 of the Nurfurburger (yes I spelled it wrong) if I think my car needs less bounce. Being able to tune from the garage, nice! Now let's work on being able to change toe in and toe out when it's necessary.
6: Day/night, weather. I want bugs on my windshield!! I want to hit R2 to activate the windshield washer fluid and L2 to activate my windshield wipers!
7: I want the Baja 1000 as an endurance race!!!!!!!!!!

What I would like to see in GT5:

- More tracks + bring back those GT2 tracks that didn't make it in GT4.

- More manufacturers, but with at least 5 models. It's a shame having Volvo with only 2 cars, Seat with only 1 car and Landrover with 1 car.

- Better A.I. (don't have to explain this one.)

- More opponents in the longer races like the endurance ones.

- Weather changes, day and night changes.

- Keep the photomode and b-spec mode. They're quite amusing.

- Saving at the more than 4 hour endurance races.

- Keep the autosaving to a minimum.

- More modes, like drifting contests, dragracing, betting on races for more money.

- If you win a championship, you should have a movie that you're handed a trophy on the podium and spray champagne at each other. (Like you see at the Formule 1 racing)

Jus hope that the PS2 or next-gen console can cope with all the sujestions that've been proposed! :nervous: Most of them r 2 do with graphical improvements and would ask a lot of the console, but it shud be ok. 👍

What i would want:

TRACKS - rt-11 its not anywhere in gt4 but is an origianl track from gt1 and slightly modded in gt3.
not sure of the name - its from gt2 - its the one road coarse track that is in the desert setting. has a big bank at end of the straight.

CARS - just more raceable ones - like some of the new proto's from the US lamans series races.
the ability to turn normal cars into race models like in gt1.

RACES - gt4 doesn't have as many races as gt3 just harder w/ fewer laps.
need to put the ralley setup from gt3 in - the gt4 version is not as realistic in driving, the cars just slide around too much. I liked the tarmac ralleys, the one through the town was alot of fun.
no penalties for the dirt ralleys - the ai slams you too much when you are in front and gives you the penalties not the ai?? :yuck: )

Lots of talk about not liking damage because of the "Writing the car off" on the last lap of a 24hr race scenario.

So what if you lose 3 hrs game playing work through 1 mistake, since when has life ever been fair!? :)

I demand the right to totally wreck my car accidentally on the last lap of a endurance race in GT5, cus thats just how life is sometimes! :D

More music by U2 and Feeder :) , Indycars, Indy 500, Ferraris and Lamborghinis and Konigseggggggg...!
Also less of the stupid thing in non-Ferrari dominated GT4 where 1 car nearly always seems to fly off into the distance and the other AI's are well spread out not really racing each other. NOT realistic PD! :grumpy: :trouble:

id like to see a bigger diversity of cars in gt 5 i mean what happend to porche or ferrari and i mean insted of having all of japanese cars even them out a little bit all of every thing and more companies and maybe some slower cars or in gt 5 some money limited races where you can only spend so much and possibly some slower cars like a kia! or some other diversity of cars

I just thought of an idea. Say, you currently want to own a '04 Lotus Elise 111R. So, you go to the Lotus dealer and purchased it. But after the purchase, you also bought a membership (that is offered by the dealer after the purchase) for some kind of an "Official Lotus Club". On the other hand, if you happen to want an Elise that is not available as new in the dealer, like a '98 Lotus Elise Sport 190, you can then buy it on the used car dealership, then buy the membership in the Lotus dealer.

With this membership thing, it will allow you to receive invitations to some fun race events or such after a period of time. You can be notified by some email system that can be read in your garage. These "events" ranges from free runs on a track (say, 10 random elises on the Nurburgring) to mildly competitive races (on tracks like Suzuka or Laguna Seca or Monza hopefully). These events can then award you a prize or something. Something special but I think a prize car would be too much, maybe something nice and unique that you can't get anywhere else. Maybe some of you guys can give some inputs on this.

Of course, you can always have the choice to reject the invitation without fear of not reaching 100% game completion. My point here is to implement a coffee-break-like idea to the daily simulation mode (other than the licence tests) that can increase the fun and the long term playability of the game.

Just my 2 cents :)

I think this is a great idea. I LOVE the idea of mini-games!

Membership / Sponsorship / Contract fullfilled, perhaps the prize could be Design Your Own **lotus etc** Car.

Flat-12 Aircool
Not necessarely...

GT5 is at least 2 years away, so the Licencing situation could be very different come that time.

It would cost well over a million for each license

one of my thoughts on the next game: a small city....let's call it "gran turismoville" I really don't care but the idea is this. you get in a car drive to the track, race , drive to the place where you change your oil , drive to a building that sells rims for your car, drive to the ford dealer, drive to the manufacturer's garage or go to an import or domestic tuning shop. oh yeah and how about some hot chicks washing my car instead of a couple guys.

also maybe a perfomance evaluation like a slalom course or 2, a skidpad, figure 8, braking test. something that offers g-forces, 0-60 times, 0-100-0 times

does anyone remember MOTORSPORTSLAND from GT2 you couldn't race people there just time trial but I loved the track it was tiny, all turns, very exciting. something like that would be good for the next game

"other than cars"...read the thread topic people. Everyone wants Ferraris, that's why this thread is for something other than cars. Anyway, the main point is PLEASE put some punctuation in there! Contrary to popular belief, it's not cool when other people can't understand you. For example:

"I'd like to see a bigger diversity of cars in gt 5. What happend to Porche or Ferrari? Insted of having all of [those] japanese cars, even them out a little bit with more companies and maybe some slower cars. Or in gt 5 [have] some money limited races where you can only spend so much and [therefore race] some slower cars like a kia! Or maybe diversify the cars some other way."

But back on topic, I've always wondered why they don't have more realistic tire smoke and tire tracks. They have the dirt clouds that hang around forever, why can't they do this with tire smoke like in real life? And I'd love to be able to go around on the next lap and see the tire tracks from where I slid off of the course the last time. Just imagine if those dark "racing lines" actually slowly formed throughout the race as the cars went around the track rather than being there from the beginning. That would be cool, and shouldn't be that hard to program well.
