Definition of cheating:
• Cheating in video games involves a video game player using non-standard methods for creating an advantage beyond normal gameplay, usually to make the game easier. Cheats include advantages such as invulnerability ("God mode") or an infinite amount of some resource such as ammunition. ...

Duping is an advantage beyond normal gameplay which makes the game easier.

So yeah, it's cheating. Ask the dictionairy.

So yeah, I asked the dictionary and it says nothing about duping cars in GT5 is cheating

wow, this thread got a lot more attention than i thought it would!

I didn't made it because I was one of the firsts of getting that chip (I dont even have it) and I'm not asking for one (as some of you thought)! I just wanted to put this out: read this

I don't think you shouldn't be able to share a car or a chip with a friend but I think that the reason PD implemented paint chips instead of free paints everywhere is because they wanted some chips to be rare, so people could trade those for the ones they hadn't and fill a collection of paint chips.

Duping is a bad thing to the game itself, it ruins the reason for having a collection of cars/items.

I have nothing against those who duplicate things in GT5, but now every car is worthless

It's a freaking game! Go find something to feel good about yourself that actually matters outside of a tv screen!!

I think its nice when there are some rare things in games! it's a lot bigger accomplishment when you got one and you know that only a few people have one of those.
Getting something through chance is rarely a accomplishment. I have over 400 unique cars and no chromes at all whereas someone that just picked up the game could buy 30 karts and potentially get one.

All I said was it was cheating and the definition proves I'm right.

FWIW - Anyone who backs up (dupes?) their "game save" for whatever purpose is duping. Isn't backing up your game save copying your entire Garage, Contents, Museum Cards, Paint Chips and Credits & whatever else is in there to another device. So if your original game save on the PS3 get's lost/corrupted/deleted or whatever and as you restore your game save then everything in your garage becomes a copy (dupe) from a copied (duped) game save file. So in theory you should call yourself a cheater for doing so in the first place.

How many anti-dupers haven't backed-up their game save? Makes me wonder if most of the anti-dupers are just hypocrites !!!!

graph is not to scale, clearly.

and this obvious "going to hell dupers" vs "going to heaven GT5 saints" has survived 5 pages without being closed HoW?!!?
