Hello

I really want to take the GTS racing experience to the next level and hopefully get me some wheel.

There is a lot to choose from, and people seems happy with the Thrustmaster T300rs. But there is a option to add the higher quality T3PA pedals for 100$.

I use to drive with AT transmission in GTS, at least for now since I use the DS4 controller, so I think the clutch pedal that comes with the T3PA pedals are not necessary. So, are those T3PA pedals (gas/brake) going to make a big differences, over the standard two pedals setup?

It would be really nice to hear your opinion guys, thanks.

While the three pedals aren't really necessary for GT Sport, the T3PA's are much better quality than the two pedal set. That's what I thought but I wasn't sure, that the T3PA are higher quality, but now its confirmed. I think I can't go wrong with this T300 RS GT setup.

The thing with the T500 is it's not fully PS 4 compatible, and who knows if it'll be supported for the next gen console.

I don’t think it is such a big difference. I have tested them both at my local shopping mall before I decided to go with the T150 2 Pedal set. Besides of having a slightly stiffer feel on the brake they felt pretty much the same. But if you can get the T300 T3pa set for a good price go for it.

I'm not sure but the 2 pedal set doesn't come with the conical brake mod? I think that's a definite possitive the T3PA's have. Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I've never owned the 2 pedal set.

That’s true the 2 pedal set don’t have the conical stuff. But I remember having read about some issues with the conical brake mod and Gt Sport maybe it was on the G29 not quite sure though. But you can use it without the mod anyway so no problem there. I‘d also say the T300 t3pa is the better deal despite having some issues with the Force Feedback and overheating and randomly activation of the Pause screen during races which would be a no go to me. With my T150 i‘ve not had any issues and I use it regulary at least 10 hours a day.

I haven't used these with my PS4 Pro yet, as I've only just got it, but the setup worked very well with my PC (e.g. in Raceroom Racing Experience and Automobilista). To get it to work on my PS4 I have now bought the Basherboards CPX adaptor, which allows the Fanatec pedals to connect to the T300 Servo, giving PS4 compatibility - in fact this would work with any of the (excellent) Fanatec pedals, including the new Fanatec CSL Elite pedals (cheap entry point, but can be upgraded with a loadcell), as well as the high-end Fanatec Clubsport v3 pedals (which can be bought secondhand for quite a bit less than new).

Just mentioning this, as using the Basherboards CPX adaptor presents other options than just using the Thrustmaster pedals with Thrustmaster wheels and is something you might want to consider.
 
The problem with T300 to me is that the size of 11" is just too small. One inch more is much better even though you'd think one inch isn't that much.

I was going to get the T300 though, but got such a good deal on T500 (300 euros for the set) I couldn't pass on it. The old force feedback technology on T500 feels great on some cars, mostly on the faster ones.. On slower cars the force feedback sometimes feels too brushy and might kill of some vibe. But it varies. Generally the faster the car the smoother the effect. I wouldn't worry too much about it being compatible with the next console.. Who knows when and if..

I couldn't justify buying T-GT as my first wheel since I'm only playing GT Sport.

CPX adapters are no longer available. There's a new one (v3) in the pipeline but it's not available yet.
 
Thanks guys for your feedback and useful information. Sad to hear about the T300 and its issues, but I think that the T150pro and the T3PA pedal set will do good things.
 
Still have to get a wheel, but few days ago I had a chance to try out the Logitech G29, and the the wheel felt very high quality, and I had some real fighting with it at max FFB. But my main "issue" with it is was the rotation angle when driving normal cars, it simply rotate to much for my taste. Sadly GTS do not offer rotation adjust of any kind, it just depend what category you're driving.

I think ideal rotation angle for me is 270°-360°.
So I was thinking. Lets say I use 270° rotation wheel, on a car (supra or other N class car) that is supposed to have more rotation angle as standard (900°). Will it simply adjust itself to the 270° wheel?

I'm also thinking about the red steering dot. Will it mess up using less rotation wheel (270°), on a car that have more rotation angle (900°)?

If you have any suggestion for good 270-360° wheel, I would be great. I know about the T80, Hori racing wheel and the Venom Pace wheel (officially licensed PS4), but the latter two is not on the GTS supported wheel list, so I'm thinking if they're usable for GTS.

I will definitely get more quality wheel later on, this is just a getaway drug until PD comes up with the some rotation adjustments for me :)

I don't think you can change the degree of rotation on that wheel in GTS (not that I've found) but you can for PC games with Logitech's software. I think it changes (soft lock) based on the car used in GTS but I only got mine a few days ago and need a lot more time with it.

I have the T300 and love it

It soft locks the steering depending on the car which is good, i usually just watch the steering input for the first lap in a new car to 'learn' where max lock is then its just 2nd nature
 
Never gave a second though to wheel rotation until i read the threads on here... and, since there is nothing permanent you can do about it I strongly suggest you stop over thinking it.
I bought a T150 because that is what was on the shelf and I just had to play the game the day I bought it.
Not long after I got it (T150) I set out trying every budget "brake mod" out there to improve the brake feel, and, non of them worked satisfactory... Some actually made it worse.
I later upgraded the pedal set to the t3pa-pro and am a happy camper.
So, pedals... I went with the t3pa 'pro' because it included both the spring mod and the conical mod... turns out I like the conical mod better.
The metal construction is nifty, I'm not sure it factors into a more positive driving experience, but, they sure did add a lot of weight to my PlaySeat... which is a negative when folding up and lugging thru the house to stick in the closet. It's totally manageable, but, I liked it better when it weighed 30lbs less.

Oh... that will be next... your wheel stand and pedal anchor set up... keep some change around for getting that sorted out.
 
The t3pa is meant to be a decent upgrade from the 2 pedal set even if you don't need the clutch pedal.

I'd go for the t300gt set that comes with these included. Even better is the t300 ferrari alcantara edition which comes with the t3pa pedals plus a really nice wheel rim, the 599xx wheel - if you can find it

No, I have both. Use the 2 pedal till you wear it out. You can manual shift with the paddles on the wheel. Save your hundred bucks.

I originally got a t80 for Xmas and really liked it minus force feedback but it didn't even last a week before it broke.

Had to send it back as it would not calibrate and would jerk to the left intermittently.

I then got myself a t150 pro which has the three pedals and love it . Such a better experience .
I've not used any other thrustmaster wheels so can't comment but highly recommend the t150 pro .

That's right, GTS do not offer any adjust to the wheel rotation. I know PD is trying to keep things as real as possible so the rotation angle depends on whether you're driving Mazda Roadster or Porsche 919 Gr.1 machine, but for my taste and opinion, I'm not after that kind realism. I really can't see the big issue having it as an option for people to change the rotation setting, even fixed ones (90° / 180° / 270° etc.)

Yes I'm probably over thinking it. I still have to try those Thrustmaster products. I know T150 and T3PA is a good and cheap setup. As for the wheelstand and playseat, that will not happen in near future, due to my small apartment, so short drift practice at Suzuka would cause too much trouble rotating furniture around.

The T300 and Thrustmaster products should have better reliability. I've heard good things, but sadly more bad things, and that only scares me away from buying it, but who knows what will happen.

You're right, that bungee cord system is probably not made for some extreme use, but should be fine for easy drive in the Sambabus at oval speedway.

The clutch implementation in GTS is truly awful. So there's that.

I have a T300 with T3PA Pro pedals and it's fantastic BUT there are definite reliability concerns with the base. It seems though that problems usually crop up early on in the wheel's life.
 
Got the Regular T150 in December. Wanted the T150 pro but the price of the Pro was nearly double of the base model.

Anyway early last week the Gas pedal went kaput. Since there's no official Thrustmaster support where I am, i opened up the base and man is it cheap crap. Turns out one of the arms of the torsion spring cracked and broke. Seems like it is a common occurrence. Looked up the price of the t3pa here and it's literally 3/4 the cost of a new base T150. FML. Went down to the local hardware store with the broken spring and the guy couldn't pronounce Torsion Spring.

After searching for a day or two online found similar spec springs on AliExpress and took the chance. Now it's been shipped from China and will take about 2-3 weeks to get to India.

In the mean time I looked around the house and found an old umbrella. Broke the damn thing and removed one of the springs. After cutting a bit I managed to fit it to the gas pedal. Voila it works. For now.
 
I have a T150 with just the basic pedals that came with the wheel, what's the advantage with the T3PA pedal set over the included pedals?

Also what's the difference between the T3PA and T3PA Pro pedals?
 
I have the T300RS and it's been fine for me. If you don't have a decent Rig to fix it too I can't recommend the GT omega steering wheel stand, highly enough. I've tried the next level racing stand with the T500 attached and found the nowhere nearly as comfortable.

I drive a manual car, but the only racing I've done is go karting. This maybe why I prefer the two pedals over the addition of a clutch.

In all honesty if you've always been using a pad for racing, then no matter what wheel you get (as long as you have a sturdy enough frame to attach it to) your gonna be super happy with any of the products previously mentioned.

So the T500 is still not fully compatible is it (it does not have a working PS button). Next you'll try and tell me the *DFGT/G25/G27 are fully compatible.


*They're compatible with Drivehub (which is PS4 compatible).;)
