Sweated out a 29.6 last night, in one of the longer stints without a reset I was showing I have sectors for a 29.1… Actually think if I nail 1 right based on some videos I saw today (thanks for posting those!) I may be able to get into 28’s just from that. I hit it in a freak outlier one lap and had .9 on my best lap heading into the entry to 3. Unfortunately I had a penalty already from the end of previous lap so couldn’t capitalize on it.

Overall. I like it… and I hate it.

On the hate side: Penalties seem very inconsistent, especially at turn 1. Is it doing math to see if you lost enough time leaving the track or something before giving one? I have had some very…. Creative lines… taking me well off in some cases and not taking a flag for it. Other times I think I am in the ghosts wake flirting\skating with that susage kerb and it pins one on me. Similar in that last sequence. Guess I need to watch the re-plays and check tire placements when I am getting them. Gotten to where if I blow the braking point I lift for just a moment before pinning it and often come back out ok… sometimes better than ok, and it is a coin toss on if a penalty drops for it or not. Thankfully have not gone on to set any of my best laps when it has happened. Not going to get into the fact the necessary line to the top times into turn 1 seems to be all 4 clearly to the outside of the kerb… much less the white line… it is what it is. Entry to 7 and exiting on that run up to the last sequence is another one ticking me off. It at least seems consistent. Just hate that it doesn’t apply the penalty if you pick one up there until the next time past the markers for serving them. Make that one a 2… hell 5 second to make sure I can’t gain an advantage through the last sequence… but if you throw the flag before those markers let me serve it the first time I reach them.

On the like side: I like the location for serving penalties way more than where it was on Trial Mountain. Only penalties from the second half of the lap screw you for the following lap. I like running this car way more than the Civic. Not my favorite track by any stretch… but it certainly lets you wring every last bit the car has to offer out of it so the combo is pretty good. Thank god they went with mediums over hards…. Bad as the penalties are with the extra control of mediums I shudder to think of running high risk laps around the ring with hards.

I thought it was just me!!!
Yeah, don't know what it is, I golded everything in the game, but this track makes me sort of cramp up on the DS4, kind of funny, it's like I see the world record on 1:26,xxx, so there is still 2 seconds to find, so I'm never satisfied, I think the turbo lag also doesn't help, like my brain thinks that the harder I throttle on R2, the sooner the spool comes haha 🤣.
But this is what I want to see in a game, to see alot of players being faster, makes me want to try harder, great track and fantastic car!

1:27.473 with an optimal time of 1:27.261 (all of it to gain mostly on turn 1).

Turn 1 is really the achilles heel of this track for me. The last 2 corners, in particular the very last, is also not easy to nail but you won't lose so much time in it. But Turn 1 is really hard to nail it even decently well... I lost count of the amount of retries I had to do to get laps done just because of this corner. And my best lap didn't even had the best 1st sector as my previous best Ghost was like 2 or 3 car lenghts ahead. The secret is going down to 2nd gear on the braking zone and when you turn and start accelerating you go to 3rd gear, kind of like mid-apex, it's really difficult to pull it off.

I'll try a few more times some other day. Still, "only" 9 tenths off the top 1 is not too shabby if I do say so myself.
Even if I think the top 1 will probably improve by at least 1 tenth more, that japanese guy who was 1st in the last TT hasn't posted a time yet.

I think L-Shooter is road car specialist and wont bother with this tt

Spend a couple of hours on it, got a 1:28.7.
I think that may do, I doubt it will be easy for anyone to improve the best time by 0.5s.

Not too difficult TT, and rather nice combo. Except the penalties... I got a 1:38.4 invalidated for 2 pixels out on the last corner, wasn't happy :grumpy:

And the first corner is indeed a pain. Lot of time to win, or loose.

Two sessions between yesterday and today, got a 27.8 after all of it. Made a small mistake that cost me a bit, could perhaps have been a .6 but I think / hope this will be enough to guarantee gold. Changed ABS from weak to default since I saw the top times seemed to have it and that was a huge help.

I tried that and I can't seem to get used to the reduced brake distance.

1:27.187 invalidaded by like a pixel track limits on the exit of the final corner... After like a 200km session where most of it was just retry after retry to nail turn 1. ... ... Don't think I can pull a lap like this ever again.

At least got a 500k 5 star ticket for the daily mileage.

yeah no top drivers use Weak.

changed abs from weak to default and saw some improvements. Made a 1:29:445 in the third lap right away, getting off 4 tenths of my previous time. Gave it all for some more laps (20) and managed my personal objetive of < 1.29, with a 1.28:965. The first turn is crucial, and getting into it at the best possible speed from the last turn can make it or lose it. I still think I am able to go mid 1.28, but it will be harder to go down from there

Very fun TT

The combo of car and track is fun, i get annoyed but not angry when I screw up a lap as the Skyline is a wonderful car to eventually master.

Managed to get in the gold bracket but only by a bit so I assume will need to improve in the coming days 🙂

Whoever does a sub 1:29 is guaranteed gold.

This ia a very small track with very few corners, aside from turn 1, most of the others are also not hard technical corners either. Top time needs about a 26.407 for the gold time to be below 1:29. That's almost 2 tenths over the current gold time which is a lap that from what I've seen... is borderline perfect. Can't see such a huge improvement happen.

I also feel that the lap I've seen is borderline perfect, completely next to having penalties given at some moments, he really pushed it. Can't see it happening and I also think that < 1:29 is gold.

Put in about 10 laps and got down to a 1:28.091. I love these time trials, even though this one isn't the most fun of them. RBR is down towards the bottom of my liked tracks list. I don't prefer the flat-out to hairpin turns motif, or the off camber corners that don't give much assurance, or that it's a really lifeless track as far as things to look at and flow. Regardless, a fun TT again.

As many have said, turn one is make it or break it. After some laps I took a look at a 27:003 run, and he's keeping it in third with his pace up so it doesn't fall off boost, something I didn't think would be optimal... I'm still going down to second and pulling all the way through it.

I'll give it another shot again soon. With turn one sorted, 27s should be easy peasy.

Just did 1:29.877!
I think it's on edge what I can do.

Before in this thread I read something about Daily Races qualifying erases Time Trial result....?
Is this true, what I shouldn't do?

Edit: here is a video of lap

It sounds like your time recorded, in which case it shouldn't be erased whatever you do going forward.
Afaik the problem is when you do TT after doing daily race (maybe without going back to main menu?). Then, your best time may just not register.

Looking at your lap - I think you may be able to abuse a bit more the track limit on the first corner. Looking at other ghosts I realized it was OK to go really wide before turning, which help me quite a bit.

Got into the late 1.28’s. Can find another half a second. A very fun combination and my go to Sport mode feature.

I spent so much time trying to optimise the first corner (blowing track limits) I ended up not optimising the rest of the lap. My new strategy is to be safe on the first corner. Then perfect my lines and being on boost.
