Hi everybody!

I’m back home but still stubbornly refusing to start Le Mans; it’s one of my least favourite tracks and I definitely don’t know my way around in these cars! I might just try and get gold and leave it there

Still a few hours left at Willow Springs, I am knocking on the door of Top 100 which will be a great result for me! I know I’m in the minority but I really enjoy it, this car is fun to drive on the limit and really chuckable. I’m going to give it another try as optimum is mid 1:15s. Sector one is frustrating but once you’re through it’s a laugh IMO

Nice job Dan!, in the 15's!, would not expect anything less from you tho

I had somany laps were i almost was there....., but stuffed it all up each time, with a best optimum of 15.6 but it just doesn't comes in the end haha......so i left it for what it is, happy with my time..

And you mister Alien......, i'll get you at Tsukuba!!   ...( as if, but i'm going to fight for it! )

Here is the lap. Feedback welcome or you can just share my pain and skip to 3 min mark

Mate, maybe I'm just imagining things but it feels like I can't get below 26 with a much cleaner run with the 919. I would say that if you sort out the chicane before Dunlop which you didn't cut enough and the last one, which you cut too much, you're basically set. That's not criticizing you, I'm just perplexed. I may actually go back to the Sabuer and give it one more go with more laps under my belt this time.

Turn off lap info.... don't bother with the sector time. They ended up being a distraction anyways. The downside is you won't know you have a penalty or not :/
Thanks so much, I've turned it off and I feel less stressed by the timer. I'll see tomorrow if I can secure my silver (thanks to you).

Fun fact, I can still display the beautiful red warning when the track isn't under my tyres

I think I peaked. Whenever I get a new PB, it's always more than 0.7XX better than the previous one and i'm not sure why. My optimal was in the 3:22.XXX range, and now it is achieved. I'm not sure I have any left in the tank. This is basically my best TT performance ever, and i'm very proud of it!

I'm not gonna lie, that Time Trial sounds like a nightmare for me too! As a long term BMW owner/driver I am actually allergic to driving Audi's which is going to be terribly misfortunate! In which case, I think both Time Trials this week you will kick my arse on

(Fun fact, I used to have a B7 RS4 and also took it round the 'Ring. Was a wicked car. Most Audi's suck though :dunce::D)

As a former C6 owner, I resent this message.
..But also kinda agree :grumpy:

Another day, a new PB at Le Mans. It's difficult to say what my optimal time is, as my issues with the track limits are always at the beginning. So restarts are inevitable.

I'm still losing most of my time from the Dunlop chicane through the beginning of Mulsanne straight, and the Porsche curves. Also on this lap, my line through the Ford chicanes was unusually slow for me, but not horrible.

I'm not sure how much time I'll be able to find, I feel like gold is a possibility, but I'm pretty pleased so far with my performance and still having fun.

4 laps at Le Mans, with no info on the screen to remove all stress, it worked ! I was not stressed, I was slow too, but not stressed 🤣

Best lap 2s below my current record... good strategy for stress, not for speed.

Lap count 24.

I should be happy. Improved PB by 0.206 this morning! But I left 0.3-0.4 seconds on the table with a medium mistake on the Porsche curbs and then just brutally ****ed up the last chicane 😭! Penalties just kept racking up all morning and prob restarted 35-40 times. 0.169 short of (current) gold time and it’s oh so close. I’d really like to try out some other cars but I can’t let up until I see glory

The lap looked silky smooth, but you could stand to use the curbs more. You're definitely taking a safe line through the corners which will keep you from picking up penalties, but you can gain a good bit of time cutting in sooner. And I reckon you can take the Porsche curves faster than you realize. Once I get on the gas on the first right hander, I generally don't lift again until entering the other right. And you didn't do yourself any favors in the final chicane. But you already know that. :P

UPDATE: 1:15.753!! That’ll be me done, I could go quicker still but that’s almost guaranteed top 100! I’ll take it! I had resident forum alien @sdi_03 in my sights but thought better of prodding the bear and let it be. There are three things guaranteed in life, death, taxes, and anyone Finnish on your PSN friend list will be faster than you.

I’ll add the YouTube link shortly. I tried Le Mans… I hate it, I might not even bother lol.

Darn it, Dan! Now I have to run again tonight before the end of the TT. It doesn't feel right having non-Finns ahead of me!

You are almost there! Have you watched the replay for the current No. 1? He actually took a much tighter line for the 1st corner. I followed his line and seem to be able to get a much better entry for the Dunlop chicane. Also for the chicanes on the straight...you can put 1/2 a car onto the shoulder before braking...this will give you a wider and more stable entry....and get off the 1st gear ...only to use it to rotate the car and immediately shift to 2nd or 3rd right after.
Great tips! Thanks for that! When I re-watched my lap and paid attention to my throttle/braking its like I can only accurately do 0%, 50% or 100% lol. No gradient and much worse than I thought as I felt I've had decent improvement in those areas (guess I was REALLY bad previously lol). I know just watching that if I could predictably trail brake I could get out of the corners faster. I also re-lived the pain of binning that final chicane - a little wide on first chicane and then I started to brake too early, let-off and then overshot my entry, resulting in almost flying into the sand and killing the sprint to finish line.

@Evilmuffin said same thing about first chicane near dunlop. Are you referring to the turn-in portion (to the left) or the exit portion (to the right)? And the very last chicane is sentient and knows to create ****ery when I'm on a good lap and then plays nice when I have a penalty or running 3-4 seconds behind my ghost lol.

Yeah, I turned in late to start the Porsche curves, so had to lift some (of course I lifted 100% instead of like 50%) (that was my "medium" mistake) and I let off throttle when finishing the left hander because I can't trail brake correctly and if I'm not to the far right for the Corvette left-hander I either go wide and get penalty or lift too much and lose all my speed. Actually, watching that turn, it was probably top 3 of all my laps and probably made up some time.

LOL going down the last straight I audibly said "you got this, relax your arms and don't tighten-up" and then trying not to yell and wake up the house

lol, can’t even believe I’m asking this, but I’m sitting at 1’16.509 (2,74%) with the Fugu Z at Streets of Willow right now... How long has Jeddah sat on that 14.470? The lap is ridiculous but I don’t even feel secure. I feel like he could shave off a couple of tenths. Have all 28 golds without that much sweat except for Olympics and I’m worried about this one. Jesus.

I confess, I am truly incapable of driving that Fugu Z. It’s a terrible car, I’d rather drive a BMW i3 or Toyota Prius.

I also set a 1:16.5, didn't bother using the wheel since the combo is horrible with the car's handling and track limits, so I resorted to just using controller on chase cam. 0.001 off your time

So far..... today's driving is all about consistency. By that I meant I'm very consistently being inconsistent. Sector times were all over the place...kept tripping over the Dunlop chicane....getting penalty at the chiances in the straight. One of the 3:24.7 I managed was with a 0.5 sec penalty. The next lap ....no penalty and I drove a 3:25.2 :P

I'm also feeling slightly unconfortable at around 2.5% but yeah he's set that about a week ago, it's really hard to tell if he (or anyone) can pull off a freaky lap and wipe out a few tenths. Personally, I don't find it a terrible car but I find it hard to maximise street cars in tight corners with the FOV without resorting to chase cam.

Enjoyed some very much needed break from TT'ing after Autopolis, but went back for the final two days of Willow.
Settled for silver (which nowadays feels like a new gold, for me at least), but it was not even close to easy. My hands hurt after fighting with that ungrippy thing that is Fugu.
Might still improve on it given more time, but I dont want to.

WillowTT-final.jpg

Spent my break grinding Sardegna with R92CP which might give me some head start feel for the Sarthe, but most probably wouldn't.

Well, that's it,i'm going to win the lottery tonight!,lol.
I can't believe i finally got a gold time in the sand, thought i'd give it one last chance, i've been following a ghost that did a 1:16.504 and once in a while i could get ahead of him at the start but always lose out.
This time i got way ahead and held on long enough,he still passed me but just barely, lol, this might be the best feeling gold(if it holds)ever, can ya tell i'm all giddy!!!

It was a new personal best after grinding away tonight of 1:15.797. I put in over 100 miles, about 50 more than planned trying to find that extra tenth. This is my first time breaking into the top 100, and I'm praying it will stick for a few more hours. Regardless, it will be my best finish ever in a TT. :dopey:
IMG_2058.jpg

That said, I was frustrated I left some time on the track. On my fast lap, I evidently nailed the banked turn because I never was able to replicate that sector time again. Unfortunately, my final sectors were only so-so on that lap. I never could match my best time despite gaining roughly 2 tenths every lap in the final two corners alone. It felt like I would lose at least those 2 tenths and then some in the aforementioned banked turn. Optimal lap was 1:15.449. sigh
IMG_2057.jpg

Look ma, I passed a Finn!! But I still couldn't best @Dan_Tes. :irked: Worst of all, I forgot to save my fast lap replay. :banghead:

saw that the world's fastest time had improved, so had to go back out and find an extra half a second. Which thankfully I did, with a little bit of headroom.

Hoping this is enough, all of this just makes me wish for a proper endurance event in single player, one for Group C, one for LMP1 cars, another for Group 3 etc as I think it's ridiculous to believe they'll do multiclass racing when they haven't even delivered any endurance events...

I had one last attempt at Willow Springs last night, to see if I could sneak under that 4.0% barrier (had been sitting at 4.02%!). After nearly 50km, many restarts, and plenty of laps just slower than my previous 1:17.4XX, I finally managed a 1:17.2XX, shaving over 2 tenths off my time and getting down to 3.6%! And with that, I hung up my boots for this one...

A friend had suggested a Nascar style livery for this one, so this was my attempt, based off the 2015 Jeff Gordon Rainbow Racer car, modified to have retro Nissan colours...

Congratulation on the 15's @Dolph Drago and your best TT placement ever!, hard work payed off!
There are beeing clocked some insane times there on Willow!, i'm not mentioning any names.... @Blayney 👍:bowdown:

i didin't try again because i wanted to lower my Le Mans time and was happy with my 1.16.149 and place 341 :) , that said....on to le Mans this morning.

Like i say during every TT  i'll say it again...., sometimes faster laps doesn't have to look faster :irked:
I had somany cleaner laps than this that were so much slower, i can't get my head around this one....
If you watch this lap you'll see that i missed somany apexes it's not even funny, i had sector times way lower but eventually came out of the Porsche curves and thought... huuuh??..., this is not that bad timewise..?!! and crossed the line in 3:24.050, it's still not my '23, but for such a long lap i'm allready happy!

And even more happy because of all the errors i made, so i think a 23' must be possible for me, never thought that i could be fast on Le Mans, never worked for me, but maby the grinds helped :lol:

3:24.050

Here are some statistics for TT29 in the GReddy Fugu Z at (deep breath) Willow Springs International Raceway: Streets of Willow Springs Reverse. As I am still on holiday and away from my laptop, this is a reduced results service brought to you from my tablet. I will fill in the gaps when I get home at the weekend.

EDIT 11 June - Now updated

Highlights:

  • Participation was the lowest since TT14 at Nordschleife. Not surprising given it was a pretty difficult combination and the fourth difficult one in a row.
  • Only 3.8% of drivers got gold and 31% got no reward.

Drivers with gold in all TTs (to follow)
The number of drivers with gold in all TTs to date dropped from 130 to 127. The 'extra' S-rated driver is G.Barbara who went from A+ to S in the period.

Nope.

  • With being away I've not spent time on this TT since probably the Sunday after it launched. Time set then held up okay as I finished 420th.
  • Gold streak maintained.

Have a nice holiday!

You have far more commitment than I do. I'd have paused the updates until I returned! Amazing effort @half_sourly!

I have maintained my silver streak... :) EDIT: And on a quick check through my personalized results table you posted the other day, I'm fairly sure that was my best result (by raw finishing position) yet, being in the 5,000's! Then again, participation was low, so it probably wasn't my best on percentile / percentage from #1.

Allow me to share what happened last night, so I am on Le Man 24, Sabuer Mercedes C9 and my PB is 3:24:8xx while OPT is 3:22:500 exactly so I thoght lets try to improve this time and I make first lap 3:25:2xx and start new lap and I see deltas very good going down and -.900 then -1.400 then -1.700 so I drove 2:30 of the lap, expecting 2:23.500-ish and now is long righ hander and my better half enter the room and she starts "You know what I saw" and I "not... now..." and she sees deltas and know what I am talking about, she plays these TTs too and "sorry" and I just place myself in the middle of the track to turn right ???, missed that spot, brake too gently and I just see myself sliding to the edge of track, I am still there but loosing racing line, momentum and see delta +.500..."sorry"....."its ok........ I will get it... next... time".... ahhh... well I really love this TT and there is a week left, so lets just find some more time to play. :)

I had the exact same situation with my sweet better half... but I drive less faster than you :D
