Time trials overtake button

Does the overtake button work during time trial events/qualifying? This week the sf/Honda super formal I think it’s called. I’ve searched with no real answer.
I’m at 1:17.... so far

It doesn't. That function is only available in races. I can't ever remember it being activated during a Time Trial.
