Is it just me, or do the tire squeel sounds sound... (GASP) BETTER??? I got the game yesterday, and the sounds are pretty darn nice in my opinion.

Yeah, I had the same impression! Was going to check with good headphones though, as I thought it may just have been the internal speakers overdriving or something. ;) Several other improvements too (reaction to collisions and cockpit view camera movement in regards to bumps), but won't discuss them in this thread.

They do sound better, so far the only thing about this game that reminds me of Gt4 is the car and track list, nothing else!

I agree, they do sound better. The sound when bottoming out and hitting walls/barriers sound better aswell it seems.

So it is saying that GT ACTUALLY Listened to us!!! WOOHOOO!!!! :):)
Also I have a theory about GT5 related to GTPSP. I think there is a chance that all cars will get the cockpit view from the cockpits in PSP... You may thinking "But dude! The cockpits are blacked out!" my response: "Yeah, but what happens if you FILL THEM IN?" Also i noticed that the physics are even better than GT5P so that makes me really happy!!! Any input on that?

Hell, I'd be willing to settle for blacked-out interiors in GT5, it'd be better than no interiors at all, and my guess is that they're just putting the camera inside the car's exterior model, so it's not much extra work.

I also noticed the GTR VSpec's turbo huffing, puffing and blowing off. Very nice. 👍 The sounds appear to be more detailed.

There are allot of nicer touches in the game. With a decent pair of headphones the game sounds really good.

I also notice that you get a few sparks if you bump a wall or bottom out.

Another nice touch is the barriers and how some of them shift a little if you collide into them.

Seriously? Nice. Can you tell which track it was and which part of that track so someone could try it out and maybe even upload a video or pic of it?, would be awesome.

I have never seen them shift, unless I don't see it being in cockpit cam all the time.

*Edit I just noticed something else cool, the tyre squeal sounds are different for ripple strips. Drive on one and stop, then light up the tyres and it lets out a high pitch squeal like it should (sounds like spinning tyres on smooth concrete) :D

Is it just me or is the rumble sound when going over the kerbs not loud enough ?
I can barely hear it

kerb rumble could be a bit louder. the skid sounds are amazing.

They sounded like the same old crappy tyre squeels we have had since the original GT...

After my initial 'This is just a rubbish GT4 port' huff there's loads of little details that I've noticed, the sounds are much better, not sure if it's just my imagination or not but I'm sure they've used a few different tyre sound effects for different cars, i.e. a Veyron doesn't squeal the same way a 206 does probably just minor pitch adjustments to suit different cars but nice touch if it's the case.

The kerbs are much louder when listening with a half decent set of headphones Stew, sounds better than when listening through my tiny tinny PSP1000 speakers anyway.

Nomino-Then you must have never played a GT game then. they are vastly different and have multiple pitches depending on your traction. Its most noticeable when drifting, you can tell you are losing control when the tires get too loud.

Quiet squeel, loud squeel, it matters not when the actual squeel sound itself is unrealistic. Sound has been the weakest element of the GT series, and the awful tyre squeel is just par for the course.

You said they sound the same, we are saying they sound better than GT4. Meaning they do not sound the same, no one is judging the quality, just that they sound better.

They are definitely different and in my opinion better.

I can't think of a single racing title which I have played that has realistic sounding tyre sounds, every single one of them has applied sound in an un-natural manner (as in the sound may be close to the noise a tyre makes but the application is incorrect).

With damn good reason as well, the vast majority of sims use tyre sounds as a method of communicating grip levels (in a general absense of realistic feel), and that's exactly what GT PSP does, and does quite well.

To describe the sounds as par for the course (as in similar to the poor tyre noise previous GT titles have had) makes me strongly suspect that you haven't actually spent a great deal of time with GT PSP at all.
