I am planning on ordering T3 off of half.com and noticed they also have T2 for cheap. Is there much difference between the two(i.e. different series, cars, tracks) that would warrant buying Toca 2 as well?

I think TRD3 covers almost everything TRD2 had (a few cars missing) but since TRD3 is bigger, I would go with this one.

Great memories. Above all else, my personal discovery of online play, with features still missing from every PS3 racing game I know.

Beware, however, the physics, even in PRO SIM, aren't really up to sim standards. But the variety of cars and the impressive track list make up for it.

Both are good, TRD3 just edges it for me.

I was playing it earlier today, and I'd forgotten how annoying the warning system was. It went off track, hit the barrier, damaging my suspension, tryes and engine, lost six places, and got penalised for "taking an advantage off-track".

RD3 is still a great game. All the cars grip way to much and have traction control that won't go away (It's not an option to turn it off) but it's still awesome fun.
It's just great to not have to concentrate full on like I have to for most other PC sims, and still have a great time.

And ultrabeat: Yeah, that is kind-of annoying, especially when you lose places and gain an advantage, but you quickly get used to it
