it is because people who want skidmarks and reverse lights gt5 gets delayed again and again (although they actually would be cool having them in the game)

Hardly, if you read the front page of the three possible reasons, all of them are a Sony thing, not a PD thing.

if reverse lights and skidmarks are not in GT5 due to them "not being important to the racing" then why are the cars being painstakingly modelled? Why go for 1080P as that doesnt help the racing?

Kaz only cares about the bits he wants to get right (driving physics and car modelling) and doesnt give a hoot about the rest of the facts of driving, which games of 10 years ago included (reverse lights, skidmarks)

GT5 will be competing with Forza 4 by the looks of things...Maybe when Forza 4 is shown at gamescom this summer GT5 will be delayed while they start again from the ground up to compete with FM4? (joking...but maybe....)

Looks like ill be buying shift and F1 2010 to keep me going, and if i come by some money i may get a 360 and forza 3

I agree! I prefer having skidmarks and reverse lights rather than good driving physics and incredibely modelled cars. Kaz is an idiot that omits the most important details, like exhaust fumes, birds that crash on your windshield, and the ability to change the colour of the lighting inside the car. Shift is much better than GT with it's "every car kicks the tail out on every corner at every speed" physics and it's "Oh Dude, it's a demolition derby! Let's 🤬 this!" AI.

I'm sorry for being so harsh dude, but seriously, if you try to compare SHIfT with GT you are terribly wrong. And if you seriously consider "skidmarks" (GET OVER IT!!! Kaz said they aren't there, and if they were there I would be too concentrated racing on cockpit view to notice them) and "reverse lights" (Go on, watch the entire 24 Hours of Le Mans of the past 20 years and you'll never see a car, on a race, going backwards!!! So why should we care about reverse lights?) to be more important than physics and cars you really diserve this:

This thread is supposed to be about thye Tokyo Auto Salon and the GT5 display that is there ,but instead, everyone is talking about skid marks and reverse lights, one of the least needed things in GT5. No one needs to know when you're reversing, because you should be off the track and out of the way whenever you do need to reverse, and skidmarks really aren't necessary either.

I wonder if the person who made that billboard-thingy (whatever the hell they're called) realizes that's nothing but a novelty item....

Sorry, off topic.

Tokyo Auto Salon: one of the biggest GT5 displays ever built!!!!!!!!! But...... One of the smallest GT5 news? Come on!

Indeed...:nervous:. And to be honest, I'm not expecting too much in the next hours. Please, prove me wrong KY!.

Why does everyone omit the "He says laughing" from the answer he gave?

It's all about realism, frankly PD is falling behind the pack when it comes to features and basic things that real cars do.

wasn't that regarding a track editor?

Some of our readers would like to know about in-game weather changes and skidmarks. Will they be included?

I'm hoping our players won't be caught up with minor details. If they pick at every little thing, nobody will be satisfied. It's the overall evolution that will impress. Skidmarks should be of no concern. (He says with a laugh).

He talked about the track editor with a smile.
We've heard rumors of a track editor. Any comment?

At this point, it's just a rumor. So you'll have to see. (It must be noted, he said so with a smile, leading us to believe that some sort of track editor is in the works for the new game.)

There's actually a good reason for skid marks in my opinion. Lets say you mess up and spin out, on the following lap you can see exactly where you messed up and make changes to your line or speed or whatever.

But on topic, I am not too upset about the delay or lack of information from TAS, but I'm just hoping that the game comes out and proves to be the best GT yet. Kaz obviously has been listening to the community and making changes to the game just for us, i mean what else can you ask for. As long as were complaining about simple things like reverse lights, Kaz is going to make changes and the game will continued to be delayed. GT5 is about to be finished you cant say over the extra couple of months from the delay that he wont make changes to game, I doubt he would just let a finished game sit there for 3-4 months.

Can we get a percentage of people that want skid marks nationalities?
Before I say more, I would like to know if this is mainly Americans whining about skid marks, or is it a universal whining topic.

What does nationality have to do with something tires naturally do when a certain threshold is exceeded? :odd:

What if the skidmarks were part of the same system that simulated the putting down of rubber on the racing line which gave more grip on that part of the track? Would everyone say it was so pointless then?

EDIT: If it was purely a visual thing then I could do without it.

For the same reason KY said americans would rather have damage than more cars and europeans want cars over damage

He talked about the track editor with a smile.

So he did, I should have checked! Do you reckon KZ laughing at skidmarks meant they're not important and aren't in the game?

Gran Turismo 5 is far to big for Sony to release it during the dry, summer months.

I guarantee that it will be a Q4 holiday release.

Not necessarily. Spring/summer (northern hemisphere) releases are becoming more common in the industry than before. Not to mention that Q4 is overpacked with games these days.

Street Fighter IV (Capcom) - Feb. 2009

Killzone 2 (Sony) - Feb. 2009

MLB '09: The Show (Sony) - March 2009

Resident Evil 5 (Capcom)
- March 2009

inFamous (Sony) - May 2009

And it continued on into the summer, through fall and right into the New Year...

^ Kaz seems to have a soft spot for Americans-NASCAR, IRL and damge. GT needs more Euro racing-BTCC is the most exciting and action packed motorsport there is and unlike NASCAR which is also close racing they race round tracks where you have to turn RIGHT as well as left, also who could want ovals more than Silverstone, Donington, Brands Hatch, Thrxton, Croft, Snetterton, Knockhill etc.

So true! Alot of their media over there, whenever there is a new GT5 build, the first thing many of them did was a crash test and then only proceed to test other aspects of the game thereafter!

I forgot about Thruxton & Croft.Personally i hope the first Silverstone circuit is in, same as in GPL.With that, all manner of races can take part there.
As said before, Mt Panorama would be excellent plus Goodwood Hill Climb ( KY went here as we know ) & Brooklands before a friggin housing estate was built on top of it.Damn you housing planners.

I don't think I would call it a soft spot. Kaz is a business man and realizes that sales in the NA region aren't as high as they could be so he is trying to increase the appeal to that market. The GT series sells the best in the Euro market so that unfortunately means that region won't be of as much focus.

As for your second point, I don't think anyone wants any track over another. The more tracks the better.

How exactly is night racing and weather "falling behind the pack" what pack exactly has both these things? And thats only two of the features we know so far, pull your foot out of your arse and get with the program.
