I really dont know, some think updates are the cause but nothing can be proved for sure. I had like 4 games, no BR films and played it quite rarely because I was at university and it died.

Robin.

Mine gets some abuse, like my PS2 before it. Got it the first christmas the PS3 was out and I use it for BD, DVD player, sometimes left on for days/weekends. At first it was in a cabinet but the fan was going nuts so it's upright behind my TV now and no problems.

Saying that though, it'll probably die tomorrow.

Sony could at least put it in line with what its competition are offering, Nintendo fixed any Wii for free which broke due to some update a while back and MS has the 3 year warranty.

I just dont have the tolerance for over hyping by a company and then they deliver a very expensive and very temperamental product. Sadly this is becoming more and more common which tech companies. The fact sony released the Slim so quickly showed the fat was flawed both in pricing and complexity in my opinion.

The Xbox360 failure rate was so high, they had to expand the warranty and Nintendo only fixes Wiis that broke down while in warranty, wow what a service.

Its very rare to hear that someone has an original fat still working that hasnt at least been fixed or replaced once.

Robin.
Thats not true, most of the PS3s around are still old models and most of them still run. I have a European launch model and it still works, but i could imagine that it will die soon.

But i will let you alone with that now because its just stupid to argue about it and way too far of topic.

I did not say that bold bit in my original post. Don't misquote people.

Nintendo fixed OUT OF WARRANTY Wii's which were bricked by the update. Sony's 2.40 bricked consoles, they admitted it, pulled the update and fixed nothing for free.

It is? I have a original fat and so do a couple of my friends and they all are working just fine.

So the brought out a new system software which bricked consoles?
Even better! 👍

Forget it, i will leave it here.

EDIT: Just one thing: My PC died after 3 1/2 years, should i sue the people who made it?
My 20 year old Braun amp died. Should i sue them?

Hey guys, going back on topic... what the HECK is going on at Tokyo Games Show?!?!? I haven't seen any pictures or heard any news about this supposedly massive GT display!

All I want is pictures, gimme something! I don't care if they announce that the game is going back to GT4-esque game graphics! If it's news from TAS, give it to me!

Well in my experience everyone one of my mates original PS3's has failed and quite a few members here have had failure multiple times even after sending it to Sony. Its just my opinion based on what I have seen but im glad that yours is still going strong.

Sony also fixed the PS3's out of warranty for free that were bricked by the 2.40 update or maybe it was 2.50 not sure which one.

I never once heard of anyone getting their PS3 fixed by Sony for free due to the 2.40 update or any update for that matter (3.15 messed up quite a few). If you have a link to an article stating that could you post it?

Robin.

Wow, this thread is seriously off topic. Time to get back on topic or i'll call a mod and tell on you :P.

Seriously though, i'll call a mod.

So basically there were no new mentioned manufacturer agreements like had been mentioned? That's all I was really caring about.

I'm suprised that you are so willing to just accept it died and buy another one, Sony must love all the double money its getting from those buying a slim because their fat PS3 died not even half way into its lifecycle.

When my BR drive on my original 60GB went after only a year I refused to fix it with Sony because of the cost and also the fact that it would probably only give it another years worth of life judging by most users experiences.

Having never had anything electronic break, especially something this expensive and after months of fighting with Sony and trying everything possible bit of info on the net I decided to not give Sony anymore of my cash.

There are currently lawsuits going on about the consoles reliability especially with the updates and I hope something comes out of those because early adopters have never got so badly screwed over.

Robin.
...

Things break bro.

Anyways, gaming media sucks nowadays, how can there be so little coverage of all these events. The recession has basically wiped out all over seas staff and traveling funds it seems.

I never knew of "gaming media" before a few months ago. If you asked me a year ago about gaming media, or game conventions for that matter, and I would have said 'What?'. I think I heard of E3 before the 2009 show, but I never had interest in it, and I definately never knew it was so big.

Maybe it has declined, but I sure didn't notice! I think this is proof of how a G25, or any wheel, will drive your hobby into a passion.

One of the translations from PD on the TAS event page! :dopey:

Provided by Toyota, is a virtual space on the subject of future car life.
My alter ego, "My character" is actually working hard to ride or drive a car, or event, and get the latest information from Toyota, games and go out to shop with friends, and ****able it is infinite.

Please try to experience the life of the future car registered to Toyotametaporisu Now!
Of course, Toyotametaporisu service is free of charge!

I know of 7 LAUNCH 60gb models that have yet to be fixed.

The denso/toyota/pd gps system, that's about it.

I hope that GPS thing wasn't Kaz's idea of an interesting weekend.

That was amazingly dull and unattractive. You know what would be interesting?

A. Release. Date.

I have spoken.

Me neither, but I always relied on websites like IGN to update me on gran turismo info in the past, but nowadays it seems like they're all kind of dead.

Kind of strange that they wouldn't even have enough money to cover one of the biggest games in the world to my knowledge.

Kaz is all talk no show! meh.. He keeps on saying that GT5 has many surprises in store for us but the question is, ARE THESE FEATURES ANY GOOD AT ALL? GPS my 🤬 Skidmarks > Gimmicky Piece of S🤬

For KY to suggest that skidmarks, or any other "trivial" issue can't be modelled within the time, budget or technological constraints, is, frankly, laughable.

GTA IV has skidmarks, day night cycles, weather, rollover, damage, flat tires :)

What's up with the off topic? Just put an end to this. ALL STUFFS BREAKS! Nothing is invincible on this world! Deal with it.

On topic. It's been two days and not a single news? This is ridiculous! I'll see you all in 3 months or so, when GT5 comes out.

What might be dull and unattractive to you might be quite a big deal for PD..
Similar to skidmarks.. Some people think they're important but PD obviously think they are a small and unattractive detail...

that's because they are a small and unattractive detail

I wouldn't disagree with you ..
But seriously, Most people are overlooking how hard PD are trying to bring stuff from real life into the game and vice verse.. What with GT academy and now this GPS and how they are helping manufacturers design certain parts of cars (GT-R display).. I mean it might not be a big deal to you, But I'm pretty sure the relationship between PD and those manufacturers are quite big now and GT is gaining reputation not only in the gaming world but in the motoring world for what it's doing... And I'd think that's more important for them than losing a few bedroom gamers who are cheesed off because they haven't got their release date or skidmarks yet.

Why is there not even one picture of the display? Was something lost in translation when Kaz interviewed MotorTrend?

The denso/toyota/pd gps system, that's about it.
That's something Toyota should have shown off, not PD. Doesn't do any of us any good unless someone buys a FT-86, of which then, they have to live close to 1 of the race courses in the game to even start using the memory card.

Which track is this (new Suzuka?)
