Eh, I barely have time to finish my Xpower let alone win a competition (:D), so count me out....unless the comp is like 2 weeks long or something and I like the car.

donbenni, my suggestion would be a 350z, it has smooth lines. 👍 or for a challenge Dodge Ram SRT-10. ;)

Hey Sony... If I were you, I would try Flash MX. It is so easy to curve those lines and make them look smooth. If anything, make the outline in Flash MX, then import it to Photoshop or whatever else you use for coloring. Seriously, it makes it a whole lot easier, and it looks better.

Sony: Yeah i looked at both those, strangely enough, didn't really like the idea but thanks for your input, maybe another week. I've chosen a picture for week 1 however and i think it will appeal to everyone. Not too tough for all you guys that are just picking it up, but still has enough potential for the 'more practiced' to work with :)

Thanks, I'll try that. I haven't used Flash MX for awhile, I hope it'll come to use now.

dude, flash sucks for shading. AND YES, i do have it (the legal way) You cant shade easy with it, it just doesnt work.

How easy is it to outline in MX, easier than photoshop?

I'm not sure if you can! Unless some one helps me out.

well, you do the whole car using straight lines and then bend the lines from the middle to create curves.

My Skyline was completely made in Flash MX dude.

For outlining, click the line tool, then click at the starting and ending points of whatever line you need to trace. Now go to the arrow tool and bend the line. Simple as that. Moving the mouse in different ways bends the line differently. You can replicate any curve.

As for shading, I use gradients.

Hit help and go to lessons. Go through the illustrating one. That's all I needed to make my Skyline. That and experimentation.

Edit: How do I add a custom Avatar? Is there a post count I have to reach, or am I just dumb?

Actually, it's pretty easy, but maybe a little time consuming. All you have to do is outline what you would shade with lines, then fill it with the paint bucket, then delete the lines. Not that hard...

yeah, well. If fireworks you can have SUB LAYERS. Like you have 5 layers, each with a whole bunch of sub layers! that way you can change anything VERY easily.

I'll check it out, thanks 👍 Also for your avatar you need to reach 100 posts before you can customise, and 500 votes before you can have a funky custom title like me :D

500 posts! Not votes! :p

donbenni, Can you help me out with the colouring? I have my RX-7 fully lined up and I need to colour it now.

Ok, I'm done!

I finally decided to use my own mixed method, and this is what I came up with. About 2 hours of work. I was done my first one, then my adobe exited without saving. So I re-did it.:)

attachment.php

It's a PNG.
;)

It's my first vector. I will get better, I know I suck compared to you guys. But everyone starts somewhere.:D

Good start and nice choice of picture 👍 Could use more highlighting and shading in future :)

Tada!

Sweet. Sounds like it'd be good for colouring in my drawings.
