I cannot seem to win the top gear challenge. My van is always so much slower than everyone else. Any help?

If I remember correctly, you have to draft the other vans as much as possible. 👍

Drafting might help a tad so do stay behind the others but the biggest thing is to just be consistent, take the correct lines for each turn, and if I can remember correctly you might have to race a little dirty as long as you don't get disqualified.

And on the subject of racing dirty, try the Super License while you're at it :sly:.

This and CAM's. Didn't take very long to learn the track and AI. Pretty much every corner is an overtaking point, esp. Hammerhead, as I passed like 3-5 cars on that corner. Drafting also helps, too. And you're right with the driving a little dirty part. I had to cut the Bacharach to pass the 1st car, but not enough to get me DQ'ed, and some of the yellow zone on Wilson.

Yep, its more of a trial and error to see what will get you disqualified and what wont. Drafting and late braking are key. Use your rear view, brake late, swing into the lead, and block :)

Don't use full throttle near the rev limiter. If you use around 1/2 to 3/4 throttle the car will stick to the rev limiter but won't bounce of it, so you will have a higher top speed than the other cars.

Hitting solid orange cones will get you disqualified, but you can hit the orange and white ones. I think there are a few places you can use this to your advantage.
One of the key things is exiting the corners right so as not to lose momentum.
I think I gained the most ground on Baccarach and Gambon (last two corners), the AI brake way too early on those.
Combine all that with drafting on the sraights and you will get there with practice.
Oh and definately NO TCS!
Good Luck.

Cornering is the key get on the accelerator at the right time and you should win it I had the same problem

Don't hit the others with your front bumper, only the side. It's frustrating, but easier than the 2nd one in that Challenge--the Elise.

Remember: the Elise Challenge is seeing how you drive a tail happy car with smooth plastic tires on a track covered in wet ice. Hope you have a backup controller or two because that one might make you throw it once or 645 times...

The Top Gear challenges were completely underrated by the game. Intermediate is harder then hard

Anyways, the best way to win any of them is late braking. I can usually pass 2 or 3 cars by late braking right before Hammerhead (The loop near the upper part of the track) and by late braking on the second turn once you hit the cone section (don't know if this turn has a name. It is the turn that goes into a little loop around the tire wall. the one that is first. Try to figure it out lol)

Definately agree with all you said. Even about intermediate:sly:

Whoever decided that to access the test track, we have to do this stupid challenge with the slowest car in the game should be fired. You can get disqualified for the stupidest things! I bumped another van because the van's brakes aren't strong enough. Don't disqualify ME because YOU decided to punish us fans, who PAID MONEY for this game with an impossible challenge.

EDIT: Don't make fun of me for bumping. I didn't read that this thread was from July until I posted my reply. -_-

If I had a tenth of a penny every time I heard that one; the fired part. I disagree. I like that they made it that way.

How is that the van's fault? You should know full well (after trying the challenge several times, I assume) that the car's performance and handling isn't like that of a Lotus...

Far from impossible if you take the time to learn the challenge and test your driving skills. You hardly need to brake most of the time anyways, just a few light touches on them here and there is sufficient then let the van and your driving ability do the rest. One of the BEST challenges in the game, IMO. Likewise the Kubelwagen.

There are some unreasonable challenges in the game...these two certainly aren't in that category.

Yes, you're right, it wasn't the van's fault. Sorry, I needed to vent after trying this challenge 20 times TODAY.

That! 👍 As long as you keep your lines clean and don't bump others - you would be able to do it in 4-5 tries.
