That's the problem, they've tried to make a livery that flows with a very awkward section of design.

Eh, all of the problems I see with the way it looks stem from the design of the car itself, not the livery.

I think the metallic-ish orange was a bad choice, it looks kinda cheap. But yes it is a Lada

I'm optimistic that they may actually do well with it, the Granta was surprisingly well developed during 2014

Rob Huff says they're now "genuinely competitive", which considering how well they did with the pretty terrible TC1 Granta, could be on the cards. As fast as the Cruze, at least.

RML have developed the Cruze since last season, so please, I'm going laugh lada.

I still expecting the pecking order to be Citroen - Honda - Chevy/Lada.

I absolutely agree, assuming that Oreca picks up the slack in the engine department. The TC1 Granta was slow in the straights and even slower in Medium-High and High Speed Corners, which explains why they were about three weeks off the pace in Shanghai. The Vesta should be a improvement across the board, genuinely competitive yes, but I imagine they will probably getting the most help out of the Weight Balancing again.

As for the actual Vesta design and livery, I really don't have a clue what all the negative fuss is all about.; there's nothing wrong with it. The indents at the fenders are weird sure, but otherwise the car would look like every other bland 4 door sedan on the market. They used the body lines of the car to make the base of the livery which is one of the easiest and best tricks in the book, and the yellow and orange they chose do look nice together, even though I'd prefer to see blue instead of black; although that's just me wishing Repsol would sponsor some relevant auto racing. :p

Lada is trying to build a new image and overcome the stigma that literally everyone has for them and they're doing it through this touring car programme. They're doing a much better job than I'm inclined to believe you lot are giving them credit for.

The "it's a Lada" joke is old. I'm more inclined to laugh at the MG's in BTCC, since the MG6 clocked one of WhatCar's lowest ever road test scores.

Anyone reckon any of the BTCC guys who haven't got a drive (at the moment) could be switching to TCR?

I'm fairly shocked. I'll miss that. A lot. :guilty:

Agree mate, I started following it a few years ago and genuinely thought it would grow to become something massive. There's definitely a space in the market for it so I'm confused as to why it didn't work, somebody must of been doing something wrong behind the scenes. The Audi dominance probably didn't help, I know they wanted it to be heavily production based but they should of banned AWD imo.

Yup a shame about Superstars, though a production V8 category in Europe (that isn't a GT class) was only going to become less and less relevant. I think when it was primarily an Italian domestic series it was pretty good, the more they tried to make it a bigger European series the more they seem to have struggled. I went to the Donington event a couple of years ago, it was great, but was very poorly attended, and some of the teams didn't make the journey at all (I did get to meet Roberto Ravaglia though :D :D :D)

Is Mazda in this(TCR)?

It's a shame Superstars didn't live up to the promise it had, and has now died. I think there is a market for a Euro V8 series, but all the bop issues and poor organization killed it before it got to where it needed to be.

This is where I hope V8SC(Supercars or whatever it will be named in 2017), wont fail with the new regulations for new body styles and engine choices.

I think V8SC will be safe, Superstars was a small series trying to do bigger things and they failed. I'm confident it will still be one of the top touring categories, it might take them a couple of years to get it all balanced though :nervous:

Argentina quali is over, and... I have no words.

Lopez was 1.2 seconds quicker than Muller in second. Muller's lap was pretty much flawless. Pechito is terrifying.

On another note, even though Lada messed up their qualifying a bit, they ended with a race 2 pole for Thompson, and Huff with fastest in Q1 - with a time which would've put him 3rd in Q3.

For a car that has done a private shakedown and only 8 laps this weekend... that pace is utterly exceptional.

Well he is from TC2000 in Argentina, one of the most underated Touring car series in the planet, with massive factory backing from 6 Works teams.
