:yuck:

That is all. I guess it's not as bad as the Cherokee though. Good lord.

It looks like Toyota was wondering "What would a chinese knock-off look like? Yes. Let's do that."

Is that a completely new chassis? That doesn't look anything like the American Land Cruiser in proportion or size. It looks rather small, actually, like a Nissan Patrol. Our Land Cruiser is body-on-frame and I'm pretty sure Toyota is keeping it that way.

It's not the same Land Cruiser that is sold here in the US, it's Land Cruiser Prado or Lexus GX which are mid-sized SUV.
It's different then the larger Land Cruiser or Lexus LX.

Meh. It is what it is. I don't expect a Land Cruiser to be attractive, I expect it to cross deserts while escaping from terrorists on quad bikes.

When was the last time you actually saw a brand new Land Cruiser here in the States? I know they still sell them here but most of the time they are persuaded to go to the Lexus dealer to buy the LX/GX series, and it's usually the price tag doing the persuading.

I can count more Ferrari's as of late than a Land Cruiser.

That's the smaller Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. I used to sell those and the big Land Cruiser 200 at Toyota here in Australia.
sumbrownkid is correct that this is more likely the Lexus GX.

the people that I sold to($120K AUD) actually used them off road to take the family across Australia.

Beats spending $200K on a Land Rover
Edit: I lied. its actually $240K+ for a Range Rover

To be honest, that's not hugely different from the model they already sell. It's just had a bit of a facelift with some bigger lights.

It's never been a particularly pretty thing but that doesn't really matter since that's not why people buy them. They buy them because you can use them in the middle east and they'll never break down.

And I thought the previous generation was terrible.

I actually like the Land Cruiser a lot, but this new face ... yes, looks like a chinese car... :yuck:

Toyota has been delivering 1 great re-design and 1 awful one for a while:

New Corolla looks awesome, New Highlander looks like crap, New RAV4 looks epic, new Tundra looks bad, new 4Runner looks good, New Land Cruiser looks terrible...

What is Toyota doing? Simplistic but tough styling is what a Landcruiser should look like. It seems like they're trying to hard to be different and new. I had an 06 Landcruiser and I loved it! It was pretty capable offroad too. But it was way too expensive. The monthly was over 900 IIRC. I hate how this new one looks.

I'm still trying to decide whether that or the Y62 Patrol is uglier...

Hmm.

For Toyota's sake here's hoping they don't go the same route as Nissan in terms of deleting diesel engines.

To clarify, as people still seem a little confused as to what the vehicle actually is, 05XR8 gave us the right answer:

That's the smaller Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.

This is the proper Land Cruiser. It remains unchanged:

This is the Land Cruiser known as the Prado in many markets. This is the one that has changed, and as with my comment above, not actually changed that much:

It's also sold as the Lexus GX. And it's never been a particularly nice-looking vehicle - always quite tall and narrow (relative to its size). But like the bigger ("proper") Land Cruiser, it's excellent at what it's designed for.

Your telling me..... whatever the hell was going through Jeeps designers minds when they thought that design up quite frankly scares me

The current and soon to be previous gen Cherokee (before the mid-life face lift) was one of the best truck designs I've seen in a WHILE..... and the SRT.. the SRT

I am assuming this (prado) is a new to the US market? As not much has changed.

Yeah it's pretty much the same as the current Landcruiser Prado.

.

No, it been in the US since 2002 but they sell it as a Lexus GX not a Land Cruiser Prado.

This is the GX facelift.....

Quite - I'm a fan of Lexus's current "L Finesse" design language but it simply doesn't work on that vehicle. Far worse than the regular Prado...

Lexus sells it as the GX, but Toyota doesn't sell the Prado in the US under the Toyota brand.

Ah I see. I am kinda surprised, the Prado sells quite well here compared to the full sized Landcruiser. Which I think is just too expensive these days.

The 4Runner takes place of the Prado in Toyota's American lineup. And the 4Runner does sell pretty well in its segment.

Do those headlights come with threads to screw onto a shaft? Would like to take them golfing.

edit: Also, this redesign seems to say, "You think darkness is your ally? I was born in it! Molded in it! I didn't see the light until I was always in production."
