OK...so if this buzz of there being a track editor on GT5 is correct, what sections of tracks (IRL or previous GT tracks) would you combine?

What can you think up that will rival the Nurburgring?

I can personally see Trail mountain and deep forest merging nicely.

Or how about this one from the 3rd game. Not my idea, but a good one.

what about the esses on Suzuka followed by the tight esses in Eiger, with the sweeping corner of Special stage route 5, the Fuji straight (with the bus stop form DR) and another sweeper to finish it all off with the big corner from the beginners course in GT4.

All with eiger scenery

( I should of stated that before - you can change the scenery to be the same, it's more the actual sections of track I'm want to see)

Grand-Comeplex-Nuburg-Sarthe-Daytona-Sebring-Rock Valley-Ring.

But there's some rumor of a track editor? I don't remember hearing anything. I think the ability to make your own car would be better, but a track editor isn't a bad thing.

Is it only merging or editing existing tracks though?

At this point we don't know much about the track editor, but I think it will be AWESOME to be able to use such a tool. I don't understand very well how we will be able to combine different pieces of different tracks to create new ones (how do we merge tracks with different width, how do we merge differente elevations, how do we merge the different background sceneries).

One thing I know. Even with many tracks in-game, there will always be some real-life important tracks missing. Personally, that's where my work with the track editor will be focused: in the task of trying to recreate tracks I know and love, butnever had the chance to use in previous GT games.

Track Editor?...

Is this why it's taken so long for PD to come out with GT5?

I mean it's a nice feature, don't get me wrong, but why not just get
the game out and then add track editor as download content later?

Note to PD:

You are never gonna get the game out if you are trying to make it perfect and cram every little feature you can into it, okay?

Just give us the cars, tracks, private rooms, and we can go from there...jeez

Speak for yourself, I think a track editor is a great idea. Quite why people decide to pin the later release of GT5 on specific concepts I don't know. :boggled:

I would morph Daytona Supespeedway and Twin Ring Motegi into various ovals that resemble NASCAR tracks

for me they late not for feature, but to program game for all the worldwide platform... this keep many time...

Yes I think your right, GT5 is much bigger in general than GT5. Programming all the languages and interfacing it so that it works correctly without bugs is no doubt a huge task.

To be honest, I wouldn't even touch the track editor... I don't get the point of including it really...

Did you ever play GP Legends? Or, more recently, GTR Evolution? Do you know that in both games you have now available for download almost every existing track in the world, almost every "once-existing" track in the world? and hundreds of fictional tracks?

The track editor is a revolution, and a very welcomed one. Nothing like Photomode and B-Spec. This is meant for driving and racing, and it expands immensely the playability of any game where such feature exists.

I don't think the track editor will be for real world track's, I think it will only work with the new cities.

Sounds like the idea behind Legion for Grand Prix Legends which was created by using bits from other tracks.

Which tracks were used to create that? I can see the Nurb, Monaco, Snetterton, and Spa.

I have the same opinion - I would rather want PD make new, existing in real life, tracks available to download over time (after initial 96 - BDW I think that 96 will be about 48 both sides :( )
So no to not real tracks and no to editor for me (I understand that there will be some tracks like Grand Valley in initial 96 that is OK) I would rather devote time to weather and day/night thing or online mode correcting than to tracks editor, I hope uploading and downloading tracks will not slow down racing servers... - yes I hope for servers with rooms etc. not players hosts...

I think that this track in Saudi Arabia (or Egypt?) consisting of fragments of other famous tracks should make it for the editor... ;-)

Fuji's long straight followed by Daytona Road turn 1, then Suzuka chichane, followed by a medium straight then daytona road chichane then back on the throttle into a fast rightthen heavy braking for a series of small s curves that would form body roll reaching speeds of about 70mph then just at the end you reach an almost entirely circular turn(like at george v paris from gt4 then back on the straight towards the finish line.

How's that for a sprint.

Didn't think track editor was goin to be a good idea at first, but point to point is perfect. This will also be good for everyone that like downhill races. I wonder if you will be able to race on your track with others online? Maybe that's asking for too much, but I hope atleast we can make a downhill track. That would be nice.

So, they'll be making new tracks from lots of bits of old tracks?

Right, this is the Herman Tilke mode, then.

I guess the track editor will most likely be something as seen in PGR3 (X360).
You get a map of a city (eg. London) and you get to select the the points the race needs to pass.

I don't think we will see a real editor à la TrackMania where you can glue pieces of track together. It would be awesome though :)

I'm wondering if we could create a circular 'traction pad'- basically a perfect tar circle to practice powersliding.

Also, it would be nice to be able to edit the 'gymkhana' track to create different miniture tracks by moving the cones around.

useless discusssion coz KY will never allow some random-guy ruining his beloved game with some crappy selfmade Tracks ;)

Honestly, if i interpret amar's recent info corrent, there will be 80+ Tracks in GT5. Who needs a Track-Editor. This is tricky enogh with mouse & keyboard, but with a pad... no way

It seems some haven't read Amar's latest cryptic message! It sounds as if a track editor is all but confirmed.

I honestly, don't see GT with a track editor. It's gonna make GT5 less of a driving sim and more of an arcade racer.
