this has prolly been done b4 but...........

whats your favourite and least fav track?

fav: monaco (cote d' whatever)
least: luagano (is that the one with the cork screw?)

thnx for your time :)

gah! how can you guys like laguna???

I despise that track! really!
can never get the cork screw thing down right, nor the hairpin at the end! :(

cork screw aint really hard. but i just don't enjoy the track as others do.

how do you tackle it then?

I tend to brake at the hill crest or just afterand end up going too slow or completely over-shooting it.... and even if i get the speed right, going thru the bends and getting any line is almost imposible for me :(

what do you guys like about it?

Tackling the Corkscrew: Stay towards the right on the uphill straightaway, and let off (coast) as you reach the crest of the hill. Brake hard once your car levels out after the hill, shift towards the inside left of the top turn, then cut back to the right.

The hairpin at the end of the lap is the tricky one in my opinion. It's more of a blind turn, and definitely requires a sharper turn. By the time you get to the corkscrew, you're going so slow it doesn't matter. The hairpin is a bit more tricky.

My favorite tracks: Monaco, Complex String, SSR5
My least favorite tracks: SSR11, Trial Mountain (hate the rocks), Test Course.

Laguna is a great track :curvyrd:.... But I like Seattle and Deep Forest a lot too..

I was wondering does anyone like a Reverse track as there favourite? :teleport:

favotite Laguna Seca and SS5 :)
HATE: SS11 both directions

On the Laguna cork screw, this took along time for me to get but what works for me is to go full accell right to the crest and get hard on the brakes it will get me to 2nd gear speed to go through the turns under control and at a good speed. After completeing all of GT2 but the endurance races and I just passed 50% with every intention of 100% completion of GT3 (it has become a quest) I still have not figured out how to be consistant through the last hair pin at Laguna Seca.

Seattle is the bane of my existance. The Joker to my Batman; The Lex Luthor to my Superman; The Burger King to my McDonalds.

For some reason, I can never get a decent lap around this track. SSR11 isn't near the top of my list.

I do enjoy Laguna Seca. I have a wretched time learning the corkscrew. What really helped me learn it's subtleties was braking at the top of the hill, letting off and being one gear higher than I thought I should be. Usual settings for this track, require the LSD to be set to kick in quickly, I found that rolling through the Corkscrew was a benefit. Not only in lap times, but also in tire life.

I also found the same to be true with the Final hairpin. Take it one gear higher than you think you should, but do everything else the same. Same speed, same brakin gpoints, same accel points.

Once you've gotten a bit of consitentcy through it, make the necessary adjustments to your driving style.

This thread has been done before, but since there are new members (and in my case, new opinions!), it's nice to do a re-dux. ;)

Anyway, my favorite track is Trail Mountain-- I love how you can get just about any stock car and carve through the corners as if you had highly-tuned it... Not to mention it's a beautiful track to begin with.

Least favorite-- Deep Forest Raceway I and II. I like the scenery and what not, but the track iteself is horrid... high-powered cars jump way too much due to all of the annoying "mini-hills" right before the back (or front) straightaway.

Hey Youth_cycler - feeling a bit schizophrenic today?
:smilewink
Trial Mountain is both your favorite and your least favorite track?

I didn't know that the corkscrew was so hard for everyone. I thought that the U-turns at SSR11 were a lot tougher. I guess its cause i watch the speed channel a lot and they always have Superbike races at Laguna Seca. After watching it a lot i learned all of the brake points. I actually think that the corkscrew is really fun. Almost as fun as hitting that last curb/mini hill thingy at trial mountain and flying off to the left.

ok, i have pretty much got the cork screw down now.... brake down to about 2nd and roll the bugger.... then accelerate just on exiting...

god i hate rolling that thing but it is the only way :(

The thing about Trial Mountain that irks me in GT3 is how narrow they made the track. Maybe not the narrowness of it, but the clearance given through the sharper turns is much less than what it was in GT2. Getting a clean lap in is much harder, especially in a heavier car like a V8 Vantage for instance.

However, in an F1 car or a sportscar, it's an awesome track.

Everybody keeps saying to "roll" the corkscrew. What in the name of trees are you talking about?

And yeah, I really like Laguna, except for Turn Two. Decreasing-radius turns drive me insane. Just when you want to punch it and get on with your lap; WAIT, no, gotta stay out of the throttle for another 5 minutes while you putt around this corner...

SS R11 is the devil's racetrack. I'd rather drive the Seattle Enduro in the Escudo than do 5 laps on R11 in my favorite car.

SSR11 might indeed be the devil's racetrack. I'd rather drive a taxi in NYC during rush hour ;)

Re: the Corkscrew- There's no need to roll through it. If you brake hard enough, you should be able to accelerate through it.

Favourite - Depp Forest, especially with a gently controllable oversteering car (some of the JGTC NSX's are fantastic around there)

Least Favourite - Test Course. Mind numbingly dull. Much prefer the old one from GT1 and 2, which was actually really spooky on the banking in a badly set-up car.
