This was one of the changes I found acceptable for two reasons.
1) The Peterbilt they used is one of, if not the largest commercial semi-truck you can get. It allows Optimus to be large and distinct, even in alt-mode.

2) I rarely see cab-over trucks anymore and I drive 80 miles on the interstates daily, so the odds of Optimus scanning one nowadays is slim to none.

Standard cabs are generally larger then cab-over-engine trucks, and the extra material means less possibility for TF's infamous "disappearing parts". And the flame paint makes his coloring look correct in robot form.

OMG that was goddamn epic. My favourite movie of 2007. Not even slightly disappointed, a few moments where you cringe at the "Michael Bay-ness" but otherwise totally impressive.

Critically it'll probably be frowned upon but entertainment-wise, nothing comes close.....

I dont wanna wait a month to see it.... *cries*

It was what I expected, and I didn't expect much.

Yes, entertainment wise it was good, but it was overly long, dragged out way too far. The plot was boring too, it was only worth seeing to watch robots fight, and by the time the last 45 minute long fight scene came we'd seen it all in the previous 2 hours anyway.

And did the main character ever speak more than 1 line at a time?

Oh, AND, I could not believe the product placement in this movie. Every Transformer was a GM vehicle, they showed Hummer, and Pontiac dealerships. Even got a few HP laptops and dropped Nokia in there as well.

The GM contract was well known ever since they announced that Bumblebee wouldn't be a Beetle.

that is was crap :p
That's not a spoiler. I've been saying that was the most likely possibility since Michael Bay signed on.

I'm still going to go see it though.

Yeah I'm still going to see it also. Despite what anyone says!

I thought it was a great movie, I saw it last night. Had a lot of funny bits in it, I thought the fighting scenes were pretty good, and the CGI was just awesome. One of the best films I've seen for a long time! :O

This movie looks impressive. I heard that that everyone loved it at the world premiere. Here's my opinion on each character and the movie itself based on the trailers(and gameplay footage form the game):

Optimus Prime: I 'm very proud with what they did to prime. He keeps his trade mark voice, his color scheme been given a new look, and he is still the optimus I know very well from G1

Bumblebee: Though I'm a little dissapointed about his voice not being there for the film, I'm glad he is even in the movie and he seems like he is still the same from G1. Personally, I like him as the Camaro (old or new) and his robot form is a nice touch up too.

Jazz: Apparently, it looks as if the VW situation is the same with jazz as Porsche is also part of VW (at least I think) so he too ends up a different car, which thankfully is a Pontiac Solstice. He looks somewhat like his G1 form, though slightly chunkier. I'm wondering what does his voice sound like.

Ratchet: Nice update to him. He appears to be a Hummer H2, which isn't quit bad. would have to see movie to see his robot form and his personality.

Ironhide: He's now a GMC truck of some sort. He's huge and bulky like his G1 counterpart. He's in the same situation as Jazz and Ratchet in terms of personality and voice.

Megatron: Wow, very surprised to say the least. I don't why people don't like his design(which appears to be his Cybertronian form in both his alternate Jet mode and robot mode). I like his new design because I think it reflects his character and to me , maybe he was meant not to have a earth form as he refuses to have anything to do with "puny flesh creatures". apparently, there is a scene where he actually transforms his hands into a gun. I think thats badass.

Starscream: Like Megatron, I'm surprised. While I'm not surprised that he is a transforming Jet(which is in this case, a F-22 Raptor), his robot form is what I find slightly strange. I'm only guessing its bacause of his alternate form that he seems very bulky.

Barricade: He's a Saleen Mustang. and he knocks the living crap out of Sam. Nothing more said.

Bonecrusher: He's huge, both in vehicle mode (as a Minesweeper)and in robot mode. And, he has the Metallic balls to take on Optimus Prime. Brilliant job.

Brawl: He's a Tank with a lot of guns. Very menacing.

Frenzy: WTF? a Radio instead of a cassette at least.

Blackout: He's a Sikorsky Helicopter(either a Sea Stallion or a Pave Low) and that Rotary blade he uses as a weapon looks wicked.

Scorpinok: Man, thats one insane looking Scorpion.

As for the movie, well I don't care too much about the product placment that someone here mentioned as really its not like its new(anyone watch the 2nd and third Matrix movies?) and the humor is really funny and looks well placed.

Well, I await the first videos of the entire movie as I won't be able to attend, but I hope it'll be as good as they say it is.

Btw, anyone have the game or seen the game?

So, I've got tickets to the 10PM show this evening, and I can't F-ing wait. I haven't been this excited for a movie in a long, long, long time. Everything I've read said it is just F-ing awesome, and that only makes me more and more excited.

...It should be opening at 8PM in most cities, otherwise, its full-blown for tomorrow...

Wow, apparently childhood nostalgia brings about a lot of usage of the F-word.

I will be seeing this tomorrow evening, hopefully after a number of beers.

Just got back from seeing it. Two words: AWE SOME.

The movie went from badass to more badass. It just keeps building up more and more until the end.

My only gripe is that the end seemed to fizzle out a bit in terms of awesome. While the end battle was certainly action-packed, it got a little predictable and turned into basically a shootout and barroom brawl, except with big robots instead of people. The only thing that really struck me as awesome during the end battle was Starscream versus a bunch of Air Force F-22s. You can probably guess who won. :) Blackout got nerfed a bit at the end, too... for a robot that single-handedly wiped out an entire military installation, he went down far too easy at the end.

Racecar, I posted a review of the TF game in the "PS3 Game Review Thread" in the PS3 section. It's pretty exhaustive, so it should answer most questions you have about the game.

All in all, though, it was awesome, and I'll definitely go see it again. I had already put it on my "Must Buy on Blu-ray List", and that hasn't changed one bit. :)

Looks like everyone who doubted Michael Bay can STFU. He's not that bad.

I can't wait to see the film.

Just back home, and this movie F-ing rocks. The F word is pretty much necessary, it is just outstandingly good. All doubters shall immediately proceed to the "Kiss Michal Bay's Ass" line, as this is just shocking, jaw dropping, kick-ass, oh my F-in God good.

The movie simply moves with a near-perfect pace, scene to scene, everything timed just right to keep your interest until the very end. I've heard people complain about the end, but come on, you know why they did it. They've already green-light two more of them, they want a franchise.

You get done with this movie, simply put you need a cigarette (if you know what I mean). My mind is still blown over the whole thing. Fanboyism or not, you're going to like this movie. Its just so F-ing awesome.

Its a perfect 10/10 in my book.

A Mild Spoiler (Don't Read if You Don't Want to Know):

I did get my wish that Bumblebee would kick Barricade's ass, but he manages to escape death at the end with Starscream and Scorponhook. Round two should play out well against OP, Ironhide, Ratchet, and Bumblebee... And I'm certain there are more Decepticons on the way.

Just F-ing awesome. Thats really all I can say right now...

Man, its those comments that make me want to see it so bad.

@Jedi2016: Thanks for the info, Fellow Texan:tup:

Just came home from seeing it now. I was stunned. Its a really awesome movie, i liked to see the New & Old Camaro and the Shelby S281 Cop car ( I think ). The movie kinda got wrecked by my mate sitting next to me, he has already seen it and just kept on saying what was gonnah happen next . He kept saying the Camaro was a Mustang and he is a car n00b basiclly. He didnt shut up so i missed most of the talking bits in the first and last few mins. The movie was fantastic 👍 I'd love to see it again ASAP :D

Shelby S281 Cop car ( I think )

It was a Saleen S281 Police Cruiser. I still love the "To Destroy and Enslave" on the side of the car...

Interesting fact: The Chevrolet Camaro ('09 model) was built by Saleen using the VZ Holden Commodore/Pontiac GTO as the base chassis and engine, and was then matched with a one-off set of GM body pannels straight off the concept cars, with an interior to match.

The reason they used the '77 Z/28 in the movie was apparently because Bay thought it was one of the worst years for the car, but still one with potential (given the engine). The car had originally been cast, reportedly, as a Dodge Charger Super Bee (get it?), but when GM bought up the rights to the autobots, Bay went with the Camaro instead.

It keeps you wondering what vehicles they will use in the next film, assuming that a few more Autobots and Decepticons to be added later.

My wish list:

- Autobots: Inferno, Sideswipe, Prowl

- Decepticons: Roadblock, Eagle Eye, Wheeljack

===

Still a sweet movie. We're probably three years away from the next one. Someone start the clock!

The Saleen looked really nice. It shows a lot of aggressiveness, especially when the cop guy kept ramming Sam. Its one really nice car and id love to see it IRL 👍

Indeed, it looks awesome.

Very interesting fact considering Saleen is primerily a Ford tuner yet they built a Primely GM car for the movie. Wonder what this means as supposedly GM and FMC(Ford Motor Company) are rivals.

My wish list:
- Decepticons: Roadblock, Eagle Eye, Wheeljack
I'm afraid your wrong about Wheeljack as he is an Autobot, not a Decepticon. Just thought I'd show my Geeky bits:)

If there is indeed a sequel(which looks as if its shaping up to be), I love to see these trans formers in the second:

Soundwave - Wonder how he'll look as a updated G1 Transformer. Would he still be a radio, or something else?
Thrust - Since Starscream was a F-22, what foreign jet is he gonna be? I'm thinking it might either be an SU-37 or and SU-47. Either one would be nice
Springer - One of the triple changers I would like to see. He could be a AH-60 Apache for his first alt mode, and a Chevy Impala for his second alt mode.
Blitzwing - Another interesting triple changer. He could be a EF-2000 Eurofighter and Maybe(since I can't of another tank) a M2 Abrams Tank.
Astrotrain - The third Triple changer I would like to see. We all know that he'll have a Space shuttle as one alt form, but I wonder what train will he be?
Hot Rod - Would be interesting to see him in the movie. I imagine that his alt form could be a Corvette C6.

Thats my list of what I would love to see in the next one.

I wonder if they're going to put minicons in the next one. You KNOW there's going to be a Nike Airforce One minicon.

Wow, reading all this makes me want to see it even more. Glad to hear that it wasn't a total bomb either. :D

Did the Transformers do much talking?

As I am a doubter, and plan to see this tonight, even though the movie times are looking rough, I will hold any comments until after I see this.

I do have to ask though, did you like Pearl Harbor?

The movie simply moves with a near-perfect pace, scene to scene,

*Possible Spoiler*

Even the seemingly 4 hours the Transformers spent in that guys back yard while he looked for the glasses?

I liked the movie a lot, but at times it seemed like there could have been a lot fewer awkward comedy from Shia LeBoof and more robots kicking ass.

Spoilers:
What the hell was the "all-spark" finally? They never really went into that at all, just said "oh it's a big cube very powerful cool." And didn't Bumblebee kill Barricade? I specifically remember a scene, after the first fight, where Barricade was lying in ruin. Then a few scenes later he came back. WTF? Also - what happened to Starscream? His last scene was him fighting the jets in mid-air...then that's it he was cut off.
