How much faster will I go if I bother to use manual gears, at the moment I use auto but I've tried manual in the past and wondered wether it would worth the effort of practising.

I only use manual transmission for the Test Course and Super Speedway because on those courses I can get much more revs which means higher top speed.

I use auto for other tracks because I suck at manual and often stuff up on downshifting, effectively going slower.

Dunno about how much faster you'll get, but it's a fact that if you shift well, you're faster!

Manual may only be slightly faster, but it is much more realistic and it adds just one more aspect to this great game.

I tried manual racing and I ended up going 4-5 seconds slower than usaully.

Do you look at the rev meter or do you listen to the sound of the engine?

I just hear when I need to shift!
Don't need the rev-counter... only when I'm playing my MP3's loud... then I use the revcounter!!

The only time I look at the rev meter is when I am going off the start line from a dead stop beginning. besides that I listen to the car to know when to rev. On turbo cars I normally shift abot 100rpm before redline. It seems to go a little faster that way.

now try the starting line with no tcs or asm and launch the car properly. that will teach you a lot on how to use the manual transmission. it is a lot of fun learning how to do it. Especially the load times.

U can't beat a driver - who's just as good as you - with the same car (hp, weight, etc.) when you use AT and the other driver MT

Well, what's the difference here. They're not really endurance races, so prove that you can beat most of us...I don't think you'll get anywhere near Mr.P and Max.E though...
