Thought the race and the finish yesterday were both amazing and real edge of the seat type stuff. The same can't be said for all of the races but it's a new season so who knows. I can't help but wonder about one thing, for Trevor Bayne, how do you top this? For most drivers this would be the pinnacle of their racing career. Isn't it all downhill from here? Of course, he could end up being the next 24, 48, etc. I was literally, vocally cheering out loud as he came across the stripe. Really happy for Trevor and the Wood Brothers. What a great victory.👍

I'm getting a diecast of his car.

It wasn't all luck. You saw how he won. He was drafting with Jeff Gordon, Regan, and Johnson 'till the end where he won the race. I thought he was going to wreck! Quite amazing for a guy who's 20 and likes the show Rugrats.

By the way, is he the first rookie to win the Daytona 500?

Really depends on his future... He could go on to become a multiple champion. If he dreams of a future in nascar (and is not just using it to springboard to another series) then it will be one of the greatest days of his life and has established him as a star of the future. The Daytona 500 may be a celebrated event and the ambition of many a driver, but I'm sure he'll be setting his sights on the championship at some point. People may remember who won at Daytona, but the driver's main goal is to win the championship... And pick up a few prestigious victories along the way.

Yes, he's also the second to win it in his first 500 start, the other being Lee Petty in the very first one.

Not sure you can really count Lee Petty since in that race, they were ALL rookies. :)

A couple of my dad's friends were cheering because Morgan Shepherd won the Daytona 500.

LOLZ

Too bad he chose to gain points in the Nationwide Series.

Considering they only plan on doing 17 races in cup this year... he made the right choice. He can actually compete for the championship in Nationwide, but he would have no chance in Cup. (This year at least, with his current teams/situation)
