TT 35: Laguna Seca (SUSPENDED) & Chamonix West. [Post 1 for tunes!]

Pretty tidy lap, Daan..neat and not sideways. Can u use a starion in the latest TT? I thought it was lancer evo only?
The Chamonix TT is anything with snow tyres under 500pp. The fastest car is an Elise RM....

Here's a video of my Chamonix West lap. I like to take a less popular car and, as I can't normally drive well on rally/snow in GT, I'm happy with my attempt. No shortcuts either. Time is a 2'14.2xx.

That's the same car I tried 1st.:)

I didn't take the shortcut either but can't remember my time....doubt it would have been much faster than was required to get gold whatever that is:dunce:

Check your drivers traveling GTP and then keep your claim to us...Some of you are really pathetic..

A bit late for the party mato! that discussion ended 2 days ago... :dopey: Lets not start it off again :sly:

Chamonix is just fences in the snow, the bank lies between these fences and is fair game. The blue racing line even travels over part of it.

Harden up, stop crying and leave doodle alone.

Sweet lap, presumably you tweaked the old Starion somewhat? I don't like downtuning cars and always try to gold with a bone stock car, but i'm struggling a little with this, though I think perhaps i'm being a little cautious (I haven't really got used to the track). I'm somewhere between silver and gold in the Delta HF rally car but it just doesn't quite seem to have the pace.

Must admit i'm not crazy about rally events in GT5 as I think real rallying is all about making errors then pulling it back, which in GT5 for the most part simply invalidates your lap. I really hope PD put together a more sophisticated penalty system for GT6 as clearly if you are rubbing those inexplicably solid ropes at the edge of the track, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage, not an advantage.

That said, I'm enjoying the more thorough than usual analysis in this thread and will continue to try for gold in an untuned car :)

Player from Japan - Rock_starspm9, found that pit lane shortcut at Laguna Seca, and there was no way to beat his time. That's why other players drive like that. Before, on first, second and third place was people from GTPL team, and they drive clear.
Here is discussion abount it on Polish GTPL forum. http://www.gt5.amiga.pl/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1237

Whats the difference?

Ben Johnson doped, did Carl Lewis the same to beat his time? If so - he would be also disqualified etc etc bla bla.....

I mean - no offence - but what you want say with your statement?!

I mean what is happening in this topic was unnecessary and aggressive.
That event was an accident not the rule. There were hundreds of events, and GTPL team has always been on top in a clean fight. They understand that what happened is wrong and unacceptable, and now there is talk of how to proceed if Polyphony permits for things like that.

We don't need to go over that again.

Not sure. It was at 490ish pp when I spotted it, and just gave it some more downforce to get it to the 500 limit. I assumed it was still stock but I may have upgraded it previously...

I have tried it in the Delta Integrale and the Nissan 240RS (both stock) and got gold in both of them.

The past month of seasonals that have been released by PD and Amo has been dirty on every single combo from memory here's some examples...

starting at Indy road course in the 2J he hits the wall on turn 1 to slow his car down FAIL

At the Nurb in the 2J he smashes off a wall 3 minutes into the lap to get a greater exit speed FAIL

At Chamonix in the Elise he cuts massive chunks by going off track and also hits more walls on the way around the track than any replay I have seen in recent months FAIL

And finally Laguna in the Evo, He finds a line through the cones at the beginning and all good until he heads towards the uphill left hander turn heading to the corkscrew and he jumps the corner with 4 wheels off just like the motorbike pic above :dopey: another FAIL

Has this guy ever run a clean lap? I think not! he is set in his way off using advantages that more honest participants would never consider 👎 Don't overglorify a cheat as eventually it will become par for the norm and all people will do it and this great game may as well go in the bin, as KB18FAN says...

I'm happy to avoid all seasonal events from now on as I know that Amo and his little GTPL family will have exploited the event before I get to it... I wont follow suit, and you certainly wont get no arse kissing from me
have fun and goodbye losers :sly:👍

All of this. I have noticed this for months on end with just about every seasonal. Amo exploits all of the games flaws. Once a cheater, always a cheater.👎

Depends of organisation....
You see the picture of Seb. Legrelle on the circuit of Mettet?
Is he cutting the corner ? Yes... did he won the race? Yes...

Some organisations places kind of blocks to prevent it. It's a kind a dangerous to do it. You have to go fast enough, otherwise you don't make it on to the asfalt.
I'm also a big rallyfan, used to be a co-pilot about 10 years ago. And I saw some serious corner cutting in the WRC. They cut about 100metres and instead of 2 x a 90° corner they did 2 x 45°, so they won at least 4 or 5 seconds. No problem, no penalty, some teams did it, other didn't.

My point is : it depends on the organisation, when you do it en you don't get a penalty or in GT5 'a red time' it's OK.
When you'r time becomes red, it's not OK.
It's up to PD to change it.
But I'm pretty sure, even when it's not possible to cut that corner on Chamonix, that GPL_Amo is on top...

I understand where you are coming from. However, unlike Rally, in F1 and LM class racing cutting corners is frowned upon and you are penalized. Since most of this game is on the tarmac in racing and production vehicles, one should have the decency to not cheat.
I can understand where cutting a corner can waived as cheating. For instance, Circuit de Monaco, I have seen F1 drivers brake late into turn 10 for an overtake and cut off an opponent. With the only option to prevent a crash, he has to cut the corner. Officials review the clip and it is replayed to see if that move was fair. I saw it happen twice in one race.

They need to take a good look at Top Gear test track. Online, it's unplayable (unless you have a good group of friends.)

Absolutely pitiful that it's never been addressed and GT5 is over a year and a half old.

It's the king of all exploited tracks.

Agreed.

Practice makes perfect, just ran a 2:19.178 in the Delta out of nowhere, and I think I could shave a fair amount off of that too. Going to do the new A-Spec events to "unwind" then will have a go with the Starion, Nissan, Escort and Celica :)

I've been running 2:11.??? in my "Edge" Camaro if you have this car try it it drives like a (lead sled). Just have to be easy on gas.

I'm not a fan, never, not on PS3 en not in real life.
I like motorracing, I like nice races but for me it's the same, if Rossi wins, fine, Stoner wins, fine or ***** Justin Bieber, whatever, fine by me. When the race was good, thats important.

He's also not in my friendslist. Why woul'd I? He's from the other site of the country, we're not speaking the same language (me -> Dutch, Amo -> French) and being his 'friend' because he's fast should be :dunce:.

I remember Amo's namen because he's just like me from Belgium, that's why his name sounsd familiar to me. I'm not that long in to GT5 and TT, so I don't know all the other guys...

For me the Laguna seca lap was clean.
Chamonix, yep, corner cutting all the way. But if he doesn't do it, other guys do en they shoul'd be above him in the ranking.
So, if you like to be on top (uhuh, I know, a joke is on the way :dopey:), you have to use every legal way....

Whatever, this is a endless discussion, people have their opinion about things.

You sound like a total backpedalling moronic fool trx - offence intended. Its not about opinions its about spoiling the TT for everyone else by exploiting glitches. So if I can drive outside the boundaries of the track do I? No I don't that's what the effin thing is for - silly rabbit!

No excuses please. Bad behaviour is bad behaviour, what racing drivers do in the real world is up to them and their regs. Gt is about sportsmanship being a gentleman, playing fair and most important of all FUN. The latter is impossible when geeks ruin it and the TT is taken down.

I know there are quicker cars (the Elise for example) but being a rally course, I prefer to run stock rally cars. I find it a little odd to be honest that an Elise beats a dedicated rally car, but there you go.

Come on you guys, we've been through this, had our discussions and debates, now its time to just drop it. There is no use carrying it on any longer. I'm not trying to be a mod or hall monitor, but really, enough is enough. Peace.

With all respect, Mr P, but your post with Lord Vader's picture was a huge abuse. It doesn't take long time to inform yourself about GTPL Team. Even with google translator.
Our Team has many drivers and many of them don't even pay attention to seasonal TT. The reason is quite understandable - cutting the corners, etc. isn't a problem from today and almost every driver would be happy about new punishment system in GT5. I guess even Amo.
We have our own racing series, so why don't you first take a look at them and then create your opinion about ALL members? They're mostly opened for everybody.
And by the way - take a look at GT Academy, especially Round 1, do you see any GTP members in the top250? In this case, well... ironic, isn't it? (with no offence, especially for GTP_DHolland - I had an opportunity to meet him once in our lobby and he's a talented and damn fast driver)
I'm reading GTPlanet almost every day to inform myself about the world around GT and it's a pity to find here such ignorant messages.

I know, we should drop this topic, but I just had to write it down... So, if you want to know the real GTPL face then start racing with us, beacause seasonal TT isn't everything in GT5 and isn't also everything for all GTPL members.

Cheers and best of luck in GTA 2012!

For Chamonix West TT I am using Nissan GTR Black Edition '12, detuned to 500pp, power limiter set to 375hp, everything else stock, BB 5/4, no brake aids, all other aids off, managed a time of 2:16.4xx in 1st lap. I could get better time as I was slow in at least 4 corners, maybe another try :) and no corner cutting :sly:

Such is life with forums. One poster does not give the views of GTP as a whole.

Now, lets draw a line under this.

A lot of times I look at the leader boards and try to pick a car that others haven't used. The reason I used the Camaro is with it being RWD I thought it would be a fun drive and it was. I kinda like the strange cars for TT's. Sometimes I'll use the fastest drivers car but not finish TT at the end just to see how fast the car would be.

:nervous:

And I was thinking I finally found a grown up forum, NOT 💡.

And posts like yours are not helping. As daan posted above, draw a line under it and just stop with any and all negative comments and responses to them. The thread should return to normal then.

I was agreeing rather than disagreeing really, just seems ironic that for this event a stock rally car within the PP seems to be the "wrong" car to use, so in this instance represents a good challenge. :)

Yes I did agree in a later post here... that I was out of order to condemn the whole forum in that early post, it was out of order and I do apologize again anyway and look forward to seeing what happens in future events and hopefully I wont have any reasons to act like an ass again 👍

Cheers
Ron.

I hope this TT inspires PD to look at Top Gear and others.

I remember when the first exploit was found on Top Gear; clean racers were furious. And then when it was discovered you could further cheat and complete a "lap" without even doing a half lap....wow! The track soon lost all its mystique and attraction online.

What a shame.

Is anybody still running the chamonix time trial?

Yup, managed to shave another 8/10ths off my time this morning. 64th place at 2:02.461 with no corner cut. I'm pretty happy with that but I see I have a couple of seconds to get near your time.

Gonna have a crack at it tonight with both (Praiano-tuned) Lancer Stratos rally & road cars. Should be interesting.
