only in replay? damn if yes!

Can you clarify what the question is? I don't quite understand.

i mean can we select the TV camera while driving?

i think he means the tv mode replay where they shoot the cars at all angles that are impossible to drive with...

it's not impossible. LFS has it and it's fun.

Its a dumb idea, who on earth uses it? Who on earth would use it.

I use it and i'm not the only one. if they add it people will use it. just like in the case of LFS. if the option is there, ppl will use it. plus, we could enjoy the graphics even more (LFS's gfx aren't that good). i enjoy messing around with that camera option a lot. try it, you might like it yourself too.

worst thread ever ...

i dont play LFS but i play rfactor and other sims.. i used that camera few times but only to mess around with...

but really we dont need it during gameplay in GT5. you got your replays for that..

you didn't understand me. i'm talking about using that camera while driving around.

replays are irrelevant.

no we do understand you. its a stupid idea. you can't drive properly going around a track looking at your car at "pretty angles" or are you just wanting it so you can sit there trying to do burnouts?

regardless its pointless

pointless for you? maybe. though it doesn't matter since it would be selectable, it won't be imposed and it wouldn't add burden to the programmers.

we are talking, we're not voting for the best thread ever. understood?

They have a camera like this in 'GTA', however the absolute most business camera to add would be the one from 'Driver' or 'StuntMan' - where you dump the camera behind you, and you can wheelspin and pose to your hearts content around it as it tracks you.

supertone: a user controlled camera option would be nice too. :)

Your forgetting one thing, this isnt LFS, driver, stuntman or rfactor, its gran turismo, what you could possibly gain from driving in the tv camera i dont know, why you bothered suggesting it, i dont know.

Go watch a replay and pretend to drive.

There are some uses for this. But I personally was satisfied with being able to go behind the car, and then use the look back option. This allows you to see the car and the drivers from the front, which is really cool, because you can see how the shadows work in the car, and how rally drivers (in the Demo) both are there and one of them is clearly looking at the route, etc. Very nice details.

I'm getting tired of people who do that "Well, you don't need that, it's a racing game, it's for racing, if you wanna mess around go to some other game"-thing.

Yes, that camera thing would not be a fantastic idea for use in races, but am I seriously the only one who likes to screw around sometimes? There's a reason we get all those cars you know. Enjoying them isn't just about pro racing all the time.

You don't have to get all worked up over an idea that GT doesn't have - No it's not needed, and GT probably will not have it, but that doesn't mean it's an idea that couldn't contribute to the game. That's just like that gymkhana parking lot, that I know some of you would like to have.

My opinion anyway...

MildAshers: it will be optional. memorize it.

But whats the point?

it's about having fun, screwing around and looking at the car freely on track. even simbin's automobile racing simulations have it.

doughnut/drifter ppl will enjoy it too (i'm not a doughnut guy/drifter).

you might not use it. others will.

you have a problem with choices?

you're acting like it will delay the development for one whole year to add it and it will occupy 100 MiB on the 25 GiB BD-ROM.

So whats wrong with doing all that in replays and photomodes?

No your not, hell that's all I did after I beat GT3 to keep me occupied until GT4. Since GT4 was kinda boring the messing around got old quicker, but this camera mode is a great idea. When doing a time trial or free run.
I actually loved using my Cobra R in GT3 to perform the " Bandit U Turn", where when you are approaching a imaginary road block you give the car a little Scandinavian flick and use the ebrake to start your 180, but then go into the throttle to keep teh rear sliding and the whole car moving.
Since GT has always had gorgeous cars that have visual weight transfer they look great in the replays, being able to do it in a free run environment, without waiting for a replay would be cool.

because you can't control the car. read the name of the thread.

Only in replays?
Not messed about with the views on those much.
I know you can zoom in turn the HUD on or off and cycle through the normal views. As for changing the camera angle PASS. I'll have a go later

only when the car is controllable. read the name of the thread!

thanks jase72 for telling me what's possible now. let's see if PD will listen.

I agree that it would be fairly useless in this type of game, although poseing is ok I supose and It could work well for drift mode, ie the camera set on the apex as you drift past. But ultimately it's a prety big task to impliment. to use the TV cameras as set out in replay mode you'd have to switch the games graphics from race to replay......you'll notice there is alot of extra graphics filters on the replay mode and the framerate drops to 30fps to compensate for this (correct me if I'm wrong on the framerate) so it's not just a case of makeing the TV camera selectable it would take a lot of time to make it work, and considering it would be a fairly unused feature.....who would race the majority of races with a TV camera angle? and I doubt you'd stay on the track after the first bend! ou can of course watch the replay and eventualy have the photomode to show off or admire the graphics as much as you like and of course share the images with the rest of the world on the web!

Hereward: we're talking about having a TV camera available when we have control of the car.

we are not talking about replays and picture capturing.

it's easy to implement it, it would take some minutes max (i'm sure the developers use it. but will they leave it on, in the RTM build?). the programmers PD has, are professionals. if they don't give us this option, it will be for different reasons.
