Madrid at Schalke and Chelsea at Gala tonight. Despite Madrids bad record against German teams in the CL in recent years, I expect them to pull off maybe a 1-3 or a 0-2 victory. As for Chelsea, I can't see us winning. There is just way too many good attacking options for Gala at the moment. We'll be lucky to leave the Turkish Telekom arena with a draw or an away goal.

I can definitely see Chelsea winning, you say there are too many attacking options for Galatasaray? What about Man City? With all their attacking options Chelsea still won.
It might be a tight match, but Chelsea will come out on top. 2-1 win for Chelski.

As for Madrid vs Schalke, 3-0 to Madrid.

Real is just visting Germany. The game won't be that interesting.
Chelsea will have a harder time in Turkey. But, with luck, they can win. This one is going to be a great game

I really hate to say this, but the best option on CM after Carrick that we have now is Fellaini...

As for Young... Y u no play Januzaj, Moyes?

I can't really see us putting in a 3-0 (or 4-1 etc) result in the second leg at Old Trafford. Not with the current form, squad and staff.

Isn't that what we are doing now? Playing old, boring, hopeless football?

I mean, under SAF we atleast played more attacking football. With less goals conceded.
We did get a good bunch of goals against too, but we scored so many that it didn't make much of a difference.

I do feel bored watching United now and the blank expression on SAFs face with another loss. I had faith before december that we could turn it around and get CL football again but it looks like the first time in 20+ Years, united will not be in it. All because the wrong scott is in charge.

Couldn't be less interested in today's matches at all to be honest, Chelsea and Real Madrid will qualify in 2nd gear.

So far British teams in Europe have had a shocking time of it since Christmas

Man City 0-2 Barcelona
Arsenal 0-2 Bayern Munich
Dnipro 1-0 Tottenham
Swansea 0-0 Napoli
Olympiakos 2-0 Man United

Over seven hours of football without a goal...Chelsea's turn tonight!

Chelsea 1-0 up through an easy Torres goal and Real are 2 up with Benzema and Bale getting the goals...

Hopefully Chelski can do well so that England keep the 4 places. I'm not sure how the coefficient works but if they do well it should help. They're the first British team to have scored in the knockout stages this season in Europe so that's a good sign.

0-5 to Real wasn't it?, Bale got two

it really should be Schalke 04+1 now!

I expected Madrid to win with ease... but I never imagined they would crush Schalke 04 that bad.... :nervous:

Jesus, the girlfriend is a massive Madrid fan, she will be buzzing about this for days. :grumpy:

Not to be rude but, if you know anything about European Football, you would know that Galatasaray is not a team that you beat in second gear at the Turkish Telekom Arena.

Real Madrid did and if you had more quality going forward yesterday you'd have ended the tie already, Arsenal played turkey's second best side in the qualifiers and beat them 5-0 on aggregate too.

Explains exactly why Madrid lost to Gala in last years Quarters on Galas home leg...

True, but again look at their side hardly any threat and look bad at the back, for a champions league side they're one of the worst.

That poor Schalke defender didn't know what day of the week it was by the time Ronaldo had finished with him.

Huntelaar's goal was the pick of the bunch though, best goal I've seen for a long while. Bale's first was pretty special too. Why the hell couldn't that game have been televised as opposed to the snore fest that was Olympiakos vs United?!?

Their defense could use a bit of work but, Sneijder, Yilmaz, and Muslera are all fantastic players.

for a champions league side they're one of the worst.

I'd rank them just outside of the top 10, of the remaining teams. They're easily better than teams like Zenit, Schalke, Leverkusen, and Olympiacos. Arguably could be better than United and Milan with the way they are playing this season.

After watchig that, i more convinced that moyes needs to go. Obviously said to go long and play wide, we don't, utd don't even europe doesn't and thats why hes a second string manager.

The second legs start tonight, its Bayern v Arsenal and Atletico v AC Milan with Barca v Man City and PSG v Leverkusen on tomorrow night...

Most of them are pretty much settled. Not very excited for tonight since I don't follow any of the teams.

Well Arsenal aren't going through because Bayern have a hugely impressive home record so I cant see that happening, they will give it a go and put up a fight of course but it wont happen..

...and I actually think Man City have a great chance tomorrow night, Barcelona have been hit and miss this season...

The Atletico v Milan game is quite open and so is the Chelsea v Gala game. I also believe that Man Utd can make a comeback at Old Trafford. Most of the others may be settled but they'll still be good to watch because of the high intensity.

Man City v Barça is going to be the best game of this round. I do also think that Man City has a slight chance of making through.

Arsenal has had it with Bayern, with or without the home record. They are overly powerful (although Arsenal surprised me in the first leg, until the red card, poor guys) and they have a two goal advantage out. I'll be really hard to have the motivation to fight, they'll try but it's herculous task.

I ment for this week. Next week is going to be much more interesting, of course.
