ITVs comemtators endless gushing over Barca is getting on my tits.

Barca penalty and City down to 10 men!!

Wasn't a penalty... Messi was tackled outside of the box, yet fell inside.
It was very close. Contact occurred right at the edge of the box, could have gone either way really.

Edit: Took another look and it was just outside. It shouldn't have been a penalty, you were right.

The replay showed, at least to me, that Messi was clearly touched by Demichelis outside of the box. I don't blame the referee, though.

Two ex-River Plate players on the pitch: Alexis Sánchez and Javier Mascherano. Demichelis is another former player too.

EDIT: Pellegrini is a former coach of River, too.

EDIT2: Barcelona just had a goal incorrectly ruled out due to offside.

Pen was outside, but impossible to call at speed really. What a boring match though.

Edit: Tie all but over

Well, it was a boring game indeed. But I say that, if City had 11 players would have tied or even won this game.

doubt they could have won it, but would have been an entirely different game.

Looking forward to us getting spanked tomorrow (jinx it)

Thought City did alright but everything changed with that penalty which was outside the box, Man City have got all the money in the world but still play Demichelis in defence!

City had 83% pass completion with Barca 92%

Congrats to PSG for making it to the quarter finals!

I don't support Arsenal, but I feel soory for them... Bayern is tough!

---------------

Altough the "penalty" was outside the box it was hard to decide it correctly. Demichelis had no other option. Or he did let Messi get way or risked the interception. He took the second option, went wrong. I don't blame him

They missed Aguero tonight, he would've made a difference for City...

don't get why players do that, let him score rather than get sent off.

Also think this rule is harsh, a penalty is enough for me and a yellow card at max.

Since I play football (now I don't, got an injury like Walcott) I understand the decision. Messi wouldn't miss and decided to risk it, missed, it happens. I would do the same.

The rule is rather harsh yes. A yellow card would be enough but the the criterea used by the referee had to "wider". And red cards are solely for personal attacks or double yellow card.

Messi could miss, it's a much tougher chance than a Penalty, I don't think he thought he'll get the ball before the tackle to be honest, ball was too far. /2 cents anyway

Just re-watched it and Demichelis was too far from Messi and too far from the ball. Altough being a tougher chance, being Messi the chance of scoring was 95%

RE Penalty, Kompany had no clue where Messi was. Played Messi onside, Demichelis was aware, tried to cover, not fast enough. Let's all blame Demichelis.....

Agree, laziness by him big factor here.

Arsenal are going to make a card display, looking forward to it, laughable how they are begging supporters to be at their seats before kick off by 10 minutes, here we arrive at the stadium and stay at our seats for hours.

I was calling him a liability not only because of the penalty, but because time he got the ball, a Barcelona player would get it back in about 3 seconds.

I like the idea of the card display, it should look quite good if everyone is in their seat in time, I know I will be :P

The amount of people who arrive 10 minutes after kick -off is ridiculous, but as tonight is a big match, so everyone should be there in time.

Looking forward to tonight's game, it hasn't been built up as much as last night's game though...probably because it doesn't quite have the glamour of City v Barca...

In Arsenal's form right now, I think Bayern will win it. Just. I can see it having a lot of goals though. I'm going for Bayern 3-2 Arsenal. Also in the other game a 1-1 as Milan are at the San Siro today.
