Well we have had a really good run in Europe this season (first time in three years we made it to the quarters) cant fault the effort and fight the team showed over the two games...I am disappointed but not despondent, Rooney clearly wasn't fit and shouldn't have played...

It looks like Bayern are doing a 'Spain' a-la Euro 2012 by not actually trying until they need to...really interesting technique if this is the case.

My workmate pointed out that he hopes Atletico Madrid don't get Chelsea because their highly rated goalkeeper, Courtois, is infact a Chelsea player and is not allowed to play against Chelsea in the event that the two teams play each other...

It actually depends on if Chelsea allow him to play (which they did in the 2012 Super Cup) and Courtois has basically said to Chelsea "If you want me to keep developing, let me get as much experience in Europe as possible". So for that reason, the Chelsea board may allow him to play against them in the event of Chelsea and Atletico being drawn together.

That's crazy! I didn't know that:eek:

Great keeper too...

A very convincing performance from Chelsea, and without Hazard as well... Schurrle is very impressive, and Chelsea could have won by 3 or 4 tonight. I was only semi-watching the game and had the sound off, so I can't really tell if PSG made a fist of it or not, but it looked like they were out-played for most of the match.

Good news for Chelsea's title rivals too, however, since Chelsea will now have to focus on the CL semi-finals.

Chelsea started very slowly and PSG became complacent. They were then unable to shift gears when Chelsea upped their game. Chelsea deserved the win on the night but a PSG at full speed (and full strength) would probably have scored at least once.

Semi Final draw 11am tomorrow morning..

Not going to happen if they draw eachother...

Atletico apparently have said it would cost them £4.25m to play Courtois against Chelsea under the loan agreement.

I really can't call either of the matches at this time, it is going to be fantastic regardless.

Take a punt at these scores(Over 2 legs):
Chelsea 2 Athletico 3

Real 3 Bayern 4

There's a couple of very good possibilities for the final with that draw, we could see a repeat of the 2012 final or a Madrid derby. And with UEFA saying that Courtois can play, Atletico have a very good chance of winning against Chelsea. Also, in 07/08, 09/10, 11/12 and 12/13 the team that's knocked out Barcelona has gone on to win the cup.

Also, let's not forget Athletico are top of the La Liga.

Over both major UEFA competitions, half of the teams are from Spain, really don't get people who say La Liga is weak...

I'd like to see Athletico win it.

Authentic club not fuelled by ridiculous amounts of cash.

I just can't see this Bayern side getting past Real Madrid.

Which also unfortunately would mean that they would have nothing left of the team next year with every player and possibly also Simeone being bought by one of the clubs fuelled by ridiculous amounts of cash.

Sure you can, it's on Viasat :sly:

But on a serious note; Bayern came dangerously close to being sacked by Manchester United. Their performances were not impressive in either of the legs.

Several knowledgable Bayern fans I've talked to are of the conviction that Bayern has taken a step back this season. And before you mention the Bundesliga; yes, I am aware of their domestic campaign.

Real looked invincible in their first leg win over Dortmund. Their biggest concern is Roanldo who looks set to miss the first leg.

Anyway, looking forward to the semi finals.

Tasty semi finals lineup, think Bayern vs Chelsea in the final.

Madrid final for me... As @Vegard says, Bayern were not overly convincing, and I think Real have enough firepower to beat them. I think Atletico and Chelsea will be tight, but I think Atletico will edge it.

Apparently UEFA have said that Chelsea cannot enforce a clause in Courtois's loan agreement that would mean Atletico having to pay Chelsea millions if they want to play him... this could end up in court, but one would hope that common sense may prevail and Chelsea will not dig their heels in.

I won't forget you left us bottom in the league for the first time in our history.

But still, good luck, and hope you win the Champions.

So far:

- Predicted Real Madrid - Dortmund.
- Predicted Bayern - Manchester United.
- Had a good hunch on Barcelona - Atlético.
- Failed to predict Chelsea - PSG IN INJURY TIME.

My predictions:

- Chelsea - Atlético -> Atlético
- Bayern - Real Madrid -> Bayern

Final:

-> Bayern by one goal on injury time via a miscalled penalty kick.

No Diego Costa could swing things more in Chelsea's favor, I have just finished watching Athletico, they won 2-0 tonight but at the cost of losing Costa to what could be a serious injury after he collided with a post, stretching to put the ball in the net for their 2nd goal. I hope it's not serious as he looks to be our top target in the summer, but from what's being said it doesn't look good.

They beat Barcelona without Diego Costa to be fair...

Barca are not the force they used to be, at the moment the same could be said for Bayern. I'm a Chelsea fan but if Real Madrid can handle the pressure I think they will win the Champions League this season.

I think Bayern just aren't putting too much effort into it tbh, they cruised past Arsenal and United, just doing what they needed. If they turn up against Madrid, playing with their best starting XI, they will win. Madrid are a much better attacking threat than anyone else Bayern faces(except for maybe Man City) with Bale and Ronaldo so counter-attacking tactics could probably work for Madrid.

If Madrid show up trying to control the game, Bayern will murder them.. It's going to be such a good game whatever way it turns out.:D

Just been confirmed that it was only a big gash to his knee, not as bad as first feared. Even if Athletico do go on to beat us in the CL, I would still like to see us sign Costa.

Semi finals start tonight! Chelsea-Atletico Madrid tonight with Real Madrid-Bayern Munich tomorrow...going to be good!

Forgot all about the CL - that's my evening sorted then.

Would like to see Atletico win this year, and not just because I don't particularly like Chelsea. I think Chelsea have ridden their luck this season, and it's about to end.
