England's population is 160 times greater than Iceland. London's alone is 27 times bigger.

Quite the achievement.

Even Amsterdam has 2,5 times more heads. And we lost TWO times against Iceland. 2-0 and 0-1.

Some perspective*;

Just want to add, my favourite part of the Euro's so far has been the Icelandic War Clap/Chant, very stirring stuff!

*No guarantee on validity

That Icelandic clap/chant is terrifying, whenever the ball was near England's box I was just waiting for someone to slip up.

I find it hard to believe that Kane is our best set-piece taker, I've watched Boro play a few times this season and even Grant Leadbitter's deliveries are far better.
Marcus Rashford might also be best set piece taker (Link):

I do find it annoying when Man Utd players don't get picked or played much. I think Michael Carrick only got one game in a tournament for England and that was last England victory in knockout football. Since then he has won so many trophies at club level but never got a look in. He helps them qualify but doesn't get selected. Jesse Lingard would be another player IMO that would show much more desire than most players that played yesterday. There are enough good players to do well, need a top-drawer manager to achieve something though.

Classic match-up for Italy and Germany in the Quarter Finals...

Interestingly, Italy have never lost to Germany in a competitive match - Germany won the last friendly between the sides 4-1 only in March of this year, but Italy have certainly upped their game. It should be a cracker - I'm still inclined to believe that Germany will go through, but I'll be supporting Italy!

Remaining fixtures then...

Poland
vs Portugal
Wales vs Belgium
Italy vs Germany
France vs Iceland

Noted above in bold who I'd like to win...hopefully this tournament still has a shock or two in it.

I predicted a France - Belgium final ahead of the first game, which I think is looking set at this point. I also had France to play Germany in semi finals, and I think that game would have been the true final.

Basing it off 1 free kick is the same reasoning that Kane is the free kick taker.

And yeah, since Rooney and Sterling start, might as well bring along Carrick and Lingard, don't expect to win anything though.

Something tells me Englands problem is lack of chemistry the Premier league provides from a team made up of players only from that one league.

Given that it's basically the main obvious difference from England to other national teams, that it's made up of players basically from one league.

It's pretty obvious at this point the manager is out of the equation at this point completely.

It's no coincidence that the most well-rounded player, Eric Dier, is the only one to have played abroad.

But I still blame the manager, and looking at the favourites to replace Hosgson, I've a feeling that I'll still be blaming the manager. If I was in charge of the FA I'd be trying my hardest to get Eddie Howe in charge, I don't believe that Southgate or Pardew would bring success to England.

With the exception of Pelle, Italy's starting lineup against Spain all play in Serie A, and they did just fine. Of all the reasons for England's abject performance last night, I don't think that's among the most likely causes.

I guess, but maybe it's strictly a premier league thing more then anything else.

Does the Premier league game change radically between teams as much as other leagues?

I haven't checked, but I'd be willing to bet those 10 players are all at clubs less than 35 miles from where they were born...

Another English manager would be a mistake in my opinion, Eddie Howe has done great at Bournemouth but didn't he have a stint at Burnley that went wrong? He hasn't proven himself at the very top yet.

If we're going to spend 4 million pounds a year on a manager surely we can attract someone that has a winning mentality rather than a surviving mentality like most of England's best managers.

To me it just seems like a dog eating it's tail at this point.

England would probably be better off hiring someone who is used to a completely different game and maybe it would add something new to a broken team.

A friend of mine here in Bratislava from England is running a competition for the best England joke. He just wants to get it all out of the way, he knows how much stick he's gonna get.

Winner gets a drink and a buttie from our local on him. A few submissions so far:

It's been 3 days since England looked this embarrassed in Europe

Iceland 2-1 Poundland

Roy Hodgson

Sterling crashes to a record low twice in a week

England team now feels misled about the consequences of conceding goals, didn't think the other team would actually win

"What a disgrace against footballing minnows. We should have easily won by 4 or 5 goals." said Iceland manager Lagerbäck

An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman walk into a pub. To watch Wales play in the quarter finals of EURO 2016.

Although as things go, this one is a winner:

You can have my drink if my entry wins.

There were reports that some senior players had lost faith in Hodgson and his tactics which were denied by Rooney in a statement he just released and by Hodgson in the news conference just now, Hodgson is being very bullish saying he doesn't know what he is doing there as he feels the statement he gave last night was sufficient.
