It looks like it has WAY too much style over substance. I'd still rent it though.

Directed and written by, and featuring the unique "gun-kata" martial art developed by, Kurt Wimmer, as first seen in Equilibrium...

It has something to live up to...

It looks the same on my computer as it did in the trailer I saw in theatres: absolutely dreadful, cliched, boring, overdone tripe.

How many more movies do we need with totalitarian governments suppressing the general population and being overthrown by a superhuman warrior? They should have ended it after Equilibrium:

I don't know, it is the follow-up to The Matrix trilogy, and it has Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman, but then again it's another re-hashed version of this tired storyline, so I'm worried...

Wimmer wasn't happy with how the gun-kata came across in Equilibrium.

If you watch the very start of the film, with the guy practising gun-kata, that's how Wimmer wanted it. In fact, that WAS Wimmer. Lots of flowing movements. The fight choreographer however altered it slightly so that it had set positions for the weapons and the movements between them were sharp and quick.

looks like some cross between Resident evil "they have created a virus, to alter humans into weapons" OOOHHH Lord. and the splashed a little matrix, and added potentially good actors with what will probably be bad script and directing. this has to be a rental flop, if that.

That's what I thought at first too. Milla + weird virus= RE3 :D

Anyway, that Equilibrium movie sounds very cool. Christian Bale and Taye Diggs starring together sounds pretty interesting too. I wonder why I've never heard of it. I'm pretty sure my local Blockbuster doesn't carry it.....

P.S. Is "gun-kata" some sort of made up martial art? Kata's from Judo or something, right? I think it means "form" or something.....

Yes, in the movie the Clerics (sort of like police) study and practice Gun Kata, which utilizes geometric angles and probabilities from previous gun battles to determine set positions and manouvres that enable them to survive and strike with deadly accuracy using their guns.

a6m5 you should DEFINITELY check out Equilibrium. It's relatively new (2002) so you shouldn't have trouble finding it for rent...

Thanks for the explanation, Anderton. I will start looking for it!

I've got high hopes for V. It's some awesome source material.

Then again, there have been lots of movies in the past 5 years with great source material...

they actually are making an RE3, so dont dry those panties out just yet. as far as this movie... its definently got the milla factor going for it. but from the previews is seems as if 98% of this movie was done in front of a green screen, so i dont know if even milla's enough to save this one

that equilibruim movie does sound particularly interesting tho. just added it to my netflix queue :D , tho it does have a short wait right now :( must be popular

No it's just old news now I think. Most people who wanted to see it already have, and the buzz has worn off; it opened 4 years ago to a small group of theatres (because it had already made a profit in overseas sales and the producers didn't want to ruin a good thing).

As much as I hated the second one, I hope so. They left us hanging at the end on that one.

Equilibrium was a cool, tight little move, it possessed cohesion & style, about this i dunno as quicktime leaves daemons so i dare'nt sustain an install.

i use DivX for mov but my preference is for no startup scheduler, that way i configure my own musics & i do'nt have to get bombarded by other users of the grimy window, if i need to pay bono for his lyric&craft - ile pay bono direct & in weight.
the movie ime sure is fayre

That looks like it would be bet then Aeon Flux. But still, seems too 80's for 2006.

Loved both Resident Evils (even if the 2nd movie was technically rubbish). Love Milla, she's absolutely stunning. So will definately try & see this. And the 3rd RE movie.

AF is at the dollar theatre near my office. Even on 50-cent Tuesdays I wouldn't bother, but your dollar is your own to spend. ;-)
