How correct were they on the Volkswagen Corrado VR6 becoming a classic? A normal Corrado can be found for £300-£2,000 and a VR6 £2,500-£5,000. No more or less for similar cars of the time and hot versions of the time and adjusted for inflation that's a lot cheaper than the CSL and GTV6.

Finally some tv time for my beloved car maker, the best in the world in fact ;)

Looking forward a lot to the upcomming episode because of the French Lions. Even if Clarkson, May and Hammond will completely take the p... out of Peugeot, I am still going to enjoy it a lot :lol:.

Rare? Most definitely.

Beautiful? To some, maybe.

Interesting? I'll remember them as such, driven around in the late '70s, usually with French Ministers or bank robbers in the passenger seats.

They were rare back then so if Top Gear find one to drive now I'll be astounded.
 
Well, Top Gear has ALL 3 of the Hypercars (P1, LaFerrari, 918) in the studio for Sundays episode however, they aren't being lapped around the track.

A bit disappointed really, I mean, this could be the only time they'll have all 3 in the same room, so why not lap them? Insurance? Either McLaren, Porsche or Ferrari don't want their car to be lapped? Who knows...

I think we all know which one of the 3 don't want their car lapped, ironic since I'm sure it's the one they'll say they loved the most.

Why? They featured alot in the topgear website.
 
Am I the only one in thinking that the latest season of Top Gear really sucks?

India special level of sucking, Patagonia special set up the bar pretty high, it was a decent special (not one of the best though, but serviceable). However everything has gone from semi scripted gags, to full on meta scripted BS (the ambulance EPISODE was god awful, not much of a point, and gags that were so painfully written like the ejector seat gag).

Is touching rock bottom, specially that latest news section that really says a lot about how JC, RH and JM genuine commentary has gone away from spontaneous to full on scripted.

Expecting a little bit more out of the next episode (given that Saab Tribute segment was really good), but hopes for that are really low now.


To put it into perspective, here is a former silly episode, from Season 3, Episode 3:



Pretty sure the trio doesn't write the car reviews anymore.

Only slightly disappointed nothing was said about Le Mans in the segment. So the highlight of it was the one clip they showed of an 037.

So, 12 minute of the same Peugeot driver gags running 10 minutes too long. Less than five minutes of actual Peugeot history. Two of the only good car tests of the series so far and the closest thing to a proper rendition of 'the news' in quite a while.

Half decent.


Something about a Latvian beating a meth dealer's lap time.

I sometimes feel Top Gear is turning into WWE. "Cars" have become dirty things and it's all about the script and jokes and the presenters getting themselves over as funny people. Which they aren't; they can't act and if they could, they'd be doing films and not this tripe.

Who thought writing car-themed comedy skits and watching them die on national TV was a good idea? I don't know how much they got for that but it should have been 3-5 years.

The review of the Ferrari was good, mind, even if it is a catastrophically ugly machine. Always nice to hear a V12. And for the brief time they were featured, it was great to see the old Peugeots.
 
I despise Olly Murs's "music", and it's even more despicable that he's top of the leaderboard.
 
Not the best episode.

Also don't you get the feeling that Hammond is like the odd one out in the show, Clarkson and May are clearly good friends off stage where as Hammond is just put there lol.
 
The Peugeot segment started off as good, but it quickly went downhill when they started being 'Peugeot drivers'. I think that they should have shown some of Peugeot's latest models too because from what I've heard, they've gotten better.
The rest of the episode was decent.

As far as I know Porsche are the only manufacturer to set a time at the Nurburgring, Ferrari are too scared to even try and worst of all Mclaren claim to have set a quick time but have no evidence to back it up. And now all the ridiculous demands regarding the Top Gear comparison except for Porsche who as far as I understand are good to go?
 
It's quite ridiculous really. I despise Porsche but after hearing the real reason behind the delay of the Hypercar Showdown, Porsche has won some respect back and Ferrari & McLaren, two if my favourite car brands, have lost quite a bit of it.

To be fair, the SAAB tribute (not you provided, the SAAB dies one) were epic and worth watching again. Easily the best Top Gear episode.

Ferrari gonna Ferrari, surprised Mclaren didn't want the test at Dunsfold though but they're clearly mocking Ferrari when they said customer cars only (like that :lol: )

Decent episode I felt, the vetter vs Cayman bit was good, the LaFerrari test was brilliant, the Pugs bit started well but dragged on a bit, it is true though how boring the Pugs have been aside from the slightly decent hot hatches,
 
Corvette review good, La Ferrari review good, La Ferrari/918/P1 not racing their cars ridiculous and dumbfounding, Olly Murs good and didn't expect him to be fastest, Peugeot bit started well but the went downhill from the 'French meeting'..

Overall a good episode but no-where near as good as last week IMO...
 
I... didn't get the Peugot bit. Any of it. Might be because the image of Peugot drivers different here. Didn't think it funny, either.

Not surprising that both McLaren and Ferrari are bitching about their cars being put to the test, by the way. Both have been shying away from the obvious three-way comparison for a while, haven't they? Porsche seems like the only one who's willing to actually go race :lol: Shame, really, since I was looking forward to that since they first drove the 918.
 
Ferrari are being overprotective of their brand image to the extent that it's starting to prove damaging.

McLaren's requests are more reasonable. The desire for all three cars to be customer spec is actually a very good one, and the request that the test take place at somewhere other than Dunsfold could just as easily be pinned down to the fact that the car was developed there and they don't want to be seen as having the "home advantage".
