I've only ever seen two occasions where anyone's looked less interested than him. Sheffield Wednesday's forwards in every game and that time when John Redwood Canadianed along to the Welsh National Anthem. And the latter of those is exactly what I thought of when he did the "Imagine waking up in the morning and remembering you're Mexican" bit of awkward, cringeworthy xenophobia.

Now, I dislike Richard Hammond quite a lot too but as a Welshman, to compare him to John Redwood is Mr. Kipling levels of exceedingly good schtick.

And you're so right about the whole "let's make Hammond xenophobic too" thing. Alan Partridge levels of cringeworthyness.

But I heard Elba is a bit full of himself...oh hang on

And there you have it.. Steve Coogan, playing 'Alan Partridge', to replace Clarkson. I think that could work.

If you remember, when he was first on the show Coogan said Alan Partridge's Crash! Bang! Whallop! What A Video! scene was partially inspired by Jeremy Clarkson.

Richard Hammond is Joe Pesci in Lethal Weapon 2 - a punching bag for Mel Gibson (Clarkson) and Danny Glover (May).

I remember your old username, and what many took it to mean. I'm aware it refers to the guitarist.

Anyway, @Famine, @homeforsummer, @niky, @Terronium-12, @Cano, @prisonermonkeys, Quentin Wilson, James May, @eminembeastfan2, and @Jordon would be my presenters of choice if Top Gear were relaunched old-stylee. Obviously. :sly:

There would be a lot more 30s cars and Mexico pissing if that was so.

They asked for 500k, right?

I think that was the original goal but now it looks like the goal is 1 million? Change.org is down for me now of course. I cant see BBC not allowing him back with the kind of fan base he has around the world. He is the BBC cash cow!

Joe Pesci would make a better host.
Let's play a game: TG or WW!

Here's how it works - someone quotes Richard Hammond and everyone has to work out if he said it on "Top Gear" or if he said it on "Winter Wipeout".

I'll go first.
Richard Hammond
"I love dad-dancing. And like all dad-dancers, there's only one move you need to know."
So ... TG or WW?

Trick question, it's obviously from Engineering Connections. :p

I think it's a trick question too. I'm going to go with both.

Funnily enough on the bus journey back from work, I was wondering how Alan would react to Clarkson's suspension.

Was looking back over TG episodes on YT and found this clip I hadn't seen before and it was just awesome

Is it true Clarkson going to quit BBC whether he is cleared or not ??

I hear he's taken the news pretty hard. He is driving up to Dundee in his bare feet as we speak.

It's been a possibility that Clarkson and the Top Gear brand might leave the BBC for years, and it remains that way.

Oh great, i thought that if he leave BBC, he won't be in TG..

The brand is bigger than the BBC will let it grow at this point, anyway.

Though it would have made more sense for Top Gear to go somewhere else about a decade ago.

All those years wasted being one of the most-watched shows online, without the distribution rights being utilized to their fullest.

Apparently the BBC own the rights to Top Gear so if Clarkson leaves the BBC, Top Gear will stay there.

BBC bought Clarkson's stake in the show a few years ago.
