I'm sure ITV, Sky, Channel 4 etc would be scrapping for the rights to broadcast a Clarkson produced/presented rival show.

Obviously , I think BBC doesn't realise that Clarkson is a one-man show , he doesn't need BBC , BBC needs him in my opinion , they are making a great mistake. Top Gear earns them 300 Million Pounds a year (450 Million US Dollars) , do they really want to lose that?

It depends on whether or not he can behave like a civilized human being and treat his work colleagues with respect. He might bring in lots of money to the BBC, but that is largely beside the point. I like Clarkson and I love Top Gear, but I won't be signing any petitions until I'm satisfied that either Clarkson didn't act like a complete tool towards his crew and/or shows some sign of contrition if he did indeed verbally or physically abuse a colleague.

Well he's dead , so he's not coming back soon ... also the BBC never ditched him , BBC isn't very consistent apparently , i guess they pick favorites.
 
I've got some vague recollection of Tiff being on Top Gear not long ago, doing a lap in something like an Atom, pretending to be James May?? Can't find it on YouTube, but that was funny.

I think the comparison is a pointless one - the situations are completely different and Clarkson's case should be judged on its own merits. He's made quite a few gaffes that have annoyed his employers in recent years, but this latest incident points towards a more serious breach... it also points to a man who is clearly unsettled or unhappy with things as they stand. This kind of prima donna type behaviour is not what a typical fan of Clarkson might expect from him, hence I find it quite surprising to see so many people leaping to his defense.

Maybe to drive the cars , not so sure about presenting anymore ... also he's doing Fifth Gear.

But the thing is , if he leaves BBC (he expressed the he might quit even if this all settles down) he can just create another show on another network that allows him to be himself , without having to worry about anyone controling him , and BBC ends up losing.

I'm not so sure. People that obsessed with Top Gear and that enamoured with the personality himself would leap to his defense regardless, like football fans jeering at a referee who has made a perfectly good call that happens to be against the team they support.

I made the mistake of looking at a Car Throttle post on the matter the other day. If you want to see what diehard Clarkson fans are like, look at all the commenters saying that people should be able to punch whoever they like because that's how "real men" deal with problems.

It's worrying how many people out there would support Clarkson whatever moronic thing he did.

yeah , people in Car Throttle are quite immature , Jeremy made a mistake , he knows that quite well . But it's not proven that he actually did puch the guy , he tried but nobody can prove that he really did , James was there but he was "blind drunk" so he doesn't know aswell.

What kind of idiot thinks this? Going around punches people doesn't deal with problems, it just escalates them!

Innocent until proven guilty, of course. But even if Clarkson actually did punch the guy, there's a surprising sub-set of people who think that that's okay...

No one said anything about the last name. And for Needell, it's still just as likely as a show called Sixth Gear, even more so than a show called that with Clarkson.

Well, I'm going to miss Jeremy if he quits. To be honest, I kinda still like some of his antics in the more recent seasons.
 
This is just my two cents, but since Top Gear has over 300 million daily viewers(That's excluding the people like me and you VPNing and torrenting) a YouTube series could be potentially successful. Just having 30 million subs would be enough to make them loads of money to fund a whole season.
