Any idea just how much content has already been filmed? Something has to happen to all that, surely...

They may mean that the BBC loses a billion pounds of revenue due to cancelled licences - but I doubt that, as that would require 1 in every 4 households to go On Demand only...

Way too early to jump to that. There's still the matter of what happens to May and Hammond; whether or not Clarkson gets replaced, if so by who; whether the show will or will not continue without him at all...

May and Hammond won't stay, they've said many times they're a "package" and they won't work with any 1 of the presenters not there. TG as it is on the BBC should just be left I think, if they try bringing in new presenters etc. they will only kill it stone dead. Whether Clarkson, Hammond and May will end up doing a new show on a different channel, who knows, but they're getting on a bit... they might want to settle down a bit and stop anyway.

Honestly? Absolutely no idea.

The offer might be still on the table, but it won't be Top Gear as we know it doing it.

A more realistic view is it won't happen this year if at all, I'll file it under "Ulitimate What Ifs" right next to HypnoDisc v Razer from Robot Wars. :p

To be fair, they have the youtube channel. I saw the Lambo Senso Elemento failed lap uploaded there, why not that trio.
 
Imagine they come to America and start a show called "We used to be Top Gear Presenters..."
 
I was reading up about Clarkson's fate from Car and Driver, and I noticed that what C&D essentially said was that the BBC wasn't going to renew his contract when it expires in December. So not necessarily getting sacked, but for all intents and purposes is being sacked at the same time because he is still being suspended while the clock runs out on his contract (and Hammond and May's at the same time).

Just really emotional because its what i grew up with and one of the main reason of my love in automobiles.

Horrible situation. Both James and Hammond will not go on without Jeremy i see. And despite the latest episodes gone lackluster, the Jeremy hate here amaze me at most.

Bit offtopic, i may lost interest in automobiles now, not just because of Top Gear, but the whole enviroment seems to be rotted at best. People are much rarer to talk about that nowadays compared to the last couple of years. Maybe the process of growing the beard?

His contract expires at the end of this month. He couldn't have timed the incident better.
 
While I like TG alot, the filming is/was awesome, the quotes they unleashed had me in stitches, often because not PC.

But getting physical (was it really over some poor tasting fries??) is just a no go. No matter how famous you are, or whether it's a Producer or Rihanna... He can be happy if this is the end and no charges will be pressed.

Good for the BBC they had the balls for this decision.

This too... their cinematography was getting to be reeeeaaaallly good at the end I thought in comparison to only a few years ago.

Well it was sack him and take a huge financial hit or cover it up and have its reputation smeared even more as well as commiting a criminal offence for covering it up.

Basically it was the BBC's plums in a vice and they had to decide what's the least painful way of getting out of it.

They didn't want to sack him, but I'll give them credit for going ahead and doing it.

Given that his contract was (and is) due to expire at the end of this month, I'd imagine negotiating a new deal with him so soon after the incident, even if they were to suspend him immediately after, would have made them look like they didn't really care about what had happened, along with inflating his ego and making him feel pretty untouchable.
 
There could been a deal in the like : Clarkson gone, no charges pressed. BBC is the employer none of the less....

Afraid not, he was on his final warning anyway.

Besides, if you or me ended up punching a fellow employee, we'd be on the unemployment line before the sun went down that day and I wouldn't expect anything less.

How does one negotiate a contract with someone serving a suspension - and how can one suspend someone who does not have a contract?

Quick reminder here: Clarkson has not been sacked. The BBC have opted not to renew his contract, which is due to expire shortly. He will no doubt remain suspended until that point.
 
Shame, it would be nice if they could at least finish this series and draw it to a close properly.

Umm he has some other things on there, but he can still show up on BBC as something else
