Seeing that episode makes me want to just pick up an old runabout and enter a few banger races!

Brilliant job by all of them.
👍

I was plugging my headphone into the tv when the mechanic's crack came into view 2 inches from my eyes :(
Ignoring that, it was a great episode.
Really exciting to see if they would finish or not.

That was brilliant 👍. I have a slight fetish for black E46es too, so that probably had something to do with it.

Quite good episode..

Nice to see they finally used the top gear fuel, which turned out to be diesel!

When the BMW's doors are open it spelt Penis and Arse! hahahaha

Don't how they manage to muck so much stuff up but they do say they are ambitious, but rubbish!

What was May's national flag on the BMW?, it wasnt the union jack...

The Fiat 500 is such a nice car, bit girly but if I was buying a car now I would probably get that, love the dash!

Oh and Clarkson reviewing the Daihatsu and the Ascari.... genius! and the way he did it with real meaning, priceless!

Very entertaining episode. 👍

Quite a painful TVR crash, and that poor Mosler. :(

I was looking forward to that episode every since I read about them being in it in Autosport. I wasn't disappointed.

If anyone's interested, the Mosler that got cosy with Hammond, having led the first lap, finished 27th.

Evo mag had a car in that race too. Funny how it wasn't mentioned...

Arse biscuits.

Edit: Just found that was originally from here.

I swear it said PENIS in red letters on the other door as well...

AND on the window it had all the three drivers (no Stig) listed - Jeremy and Hammond had British flags, but James had the German one...!

Passenger side: Peniston Oil
Driver side: Larsen's Biscuits

Passenger door: Penis
Driver door: Arse Biscuits

May's national flag: The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Person's Flag ("The Gay Flag").

Those bikers were pretty tuff, took quite a few falls but didnt stop, had an urge to take my bmx out after that. Really like the look of the Fiat 500, has loads of character and stays true to the original in terms of looks. Agree with Robin, a bit girly for us.
Race was pretty good but I was shocked at how many problems they had, are 24hr races always that hectic/unpredictable?! or is it just the fact it was the top gear team were hugely unexperienced?

they took a bog standard road car with 45,000 miles and modified to go racing......

that might be the problem

Most of thoes cars were road cars rebuilt as race cars. The time scale they did theirs in was shorter, but the vast majory of race cars are modified road cars, very few are built as race cars ground up. Though some road cars are built with a race car version in mind which I suppose is a grey area.

The endurance race was pretty cool, I was pretty impressed with the way the BMW just kept going and going even after all of it's problems. That's really something we don't do in America so it was kind of neat to see it.

The Ascari is a badass car, I would love to see one of those in person, not to mention just hear it. It even looks like a supercar should.

The Fiat 500? I still do not like it and I agree with James, it looks to cute. Also the interior was dreadful.

Notes and such:

Fiat 500: I love it! Small, rather cheap, looks (dare I say it?) better than the MINI Cooper, and really would be a fashion statement without being as "conform now!" as the rest of the micro-car lot here in America. Still, we've got a while to wait. If we're lucky, maybe, just maybe, FIAT will send a few over into the Alfa Romeo dealers next year. Maybe.

Ascari A10: The car is blazingly fast, and quite impressive at that. The car had been in previous videogames, and while I hadn't been impressed then, this one certainly catches my attention... Oh, and comparing it to the (for us Americans) Scion xB was classic; That car really does suck in case anyone hasn't been in it yet.

Endurance Racing: Good effort on everyone's behalf! I was really impressed by May's driving as I would have predicted it to be quite slow, but it in fact was on the pace for the most part. The choice of the diesel BMW was interesting, the American car magazine Car and Driver did the same for the 24 Hours of Thunderhill here in the US with an E90 330d to question the idea of BMW releasing the car here in the United States... Their success says yes, and BMW plans to give it to us (hooray!?).

Loved that episode, best I've seen in awhile. It certainly makes up for last weeks boring one.

Great episode!

I so thought they were gonna piss of everyone in the 24hr. Race.

Even when I saw it as a concept I'd sooo buy that over a mini. I liked the old version and I like this one. If Fiat was smart they'd bring it over here ASAP.

exactly rebuild by the way that it was showing on tv they remapped the engine while still on a 45,000mile clutch, flywheel and turbo, easily going to go bang with being driven flat out over a long period of time.

I think it be quite cool if someone could replicate their car on something like Forza or (hopefully if Paintshop is included) GT5.

Found this photo of a nearly un-masked Stig.

Nah that isnt human, thats a hologram. Like the one of the pilot in the decepticon chopper (Blackout) from the new film. :dopey:

Excellent episode, and was Clarkson crying at the end of the race there?

Yes. But much like Chuck Norris, Clarkson's tears can also cure horrible diseases as well...
