Stig versus Hamilton should be good for a laugh, and I'm very interested in the F1 Car test. This, I assume, is the new V8-powered model?
 
Nope, think its Alonso's R25. They have a section in the latest Top Gear magazine about it, I believe when I skimmed through its was the R25.
 
Didn't they test the Renault F1 car last season?

I think they tested the R24 in 2005, if that's what you're talking about.
 
It's the 2005 Renault this time. Last time non of the TG presenters were allowed to drive it, now Hamster will because he's short enough. lol
 
 
I obviously need to brush-up on my F1 vehicle knowledge... Not quite as easy as the NASCAR stuff that I'm used to!

Interesting thought; Let a NASCAR COT do a lap around the Top Gear track. That would be very interesting to see what kind of time it would pull by comparison to a GT car...
 
I just saw the start of the show. Lewis Hamilton will infact be doing his lap in the Suzuki Liana, not the Chevy!
 
Final Gear says 10x08 is airing, but im sure last night it said 11 hours left (1 hour less than what it is)
 
That lap time was insane!

I didn't think the F1 car would be that hard to handle for Hammond, 1,500bhp per tonne? Pfft, how about 7,000bhp per tonne?
 
That lap was immense, in the wet. Just wow.
 
Especially if the wet is worth 3 seconds, a theoretical lap of 1.41.7

Hammond in the F1 car was great, I think it shows just how hard they are to drive and how skilled F1 drivers actually are.

Notes on this week's episode:

- The Vauxhall VXR8 kicks ass, no questions there. Still a bit slow around the track, I'm sure the 4000lb curb weight had something to do with it, but a brilliant car for being so un-brilliant. Can't wait to get ours here in the US...

- I was actually interested in the piece about the way we drive our cars, neat to see how things have evolved over time. Note that we Americans, at GM (well, eventually GM...), got it right first, but yes, I can concede to the fact that it was the British who got it right for everyone. And the power lap done by the BMW? Holy crap do I never, EVER want to have that in a personal car, EVER... Cool, but NEVER EVER.

- Hamilton. Loved it! I'm not a big fan of F1, but I did follow this season a bit more closely, and I was cheering for him throughout the season (we Yanks still can't get it right). I'm really quite surprised that he handled the track that well, and I honestly do think that he can top the Stig on a dry track. We'll have to wait and see... I still want Jennifer Saunders to come back and knock Cowell off the top spot...
 
Great lap by Hamilton. Didn't look particularly fast to me through some of the corners, but it definitely was.

And that BMW was AWESOME! I certainly wouldn't want to be in the car while it's driving hard like that, but it would be interesting otherwise to have a ride in one...!

It was one place below a wet lap in the previous 911 Turbo. I wouldn't say it was too bad.
 
I thought last nights episode was a bit too F1 orientated. I seemed to loose intrest after awhile. I did enjoy it, but having two F1 pieces almost straight after each other was a bit annoying for me.

And I never want a Beemer that does that...:scared:
 
Looking back on Hamiltons lap it seemed as though he was much tighter through the corners and overall it looked very neat compared to the other drivers laps.
 
Proofs how talented Hamilton really is.

Imagine having a full grid of those beemers where you can race against.
It would be like a real life GT experience (as in, poor AI that only knows where it's driving, but doesn't know what's surrounding it ;))
