I thought on the whole it was a brilliant episode but James May getting into that electric car for the drag was just not funny. Even a vintage Rolls would have been better.

I was literally rofling when the guys hand came off on the steering wheel.
That was the single most hilarious thing ever seen on television.

That was a good episode. Had me laughing out loud quite a few times, which is usually how I rank my favorite episodes.

The Grumpert was faster than I was expecting. At a few points during the lap, it didn't look as fast as some of the other cars they've had. Although two seconds slower, the GT-R lap looked faster, you know?

I must confess I knew the Gumpert was going to be quick, Evo tested one a few months ago, as part of a very large shoot-out they did following the changes to Bedford Autodrome's West circuit (the standard test track for Evo). It destroyed everything else in terms of lap-time and peak speed, so I expected as much on Top Gears track.

A good stable car with a bucket load on down-force does however, as you say, not look as dramatic as one that's moving around a lot under load transfer.

Ugly bugger, but I'd drive one.

👍

The missing word round...I think the word you are looking for was arm.
I don't know what you mean.... [/innocent]

The other really funny bit was James dropping the "gravel" out through his trousers.

Good episode. Like most of you I laughed out loud quite a few times. The funniest bit for me was Hammond showing what a bad winner he was!

That was the funniest episode I've seen although it's a shame it's the last one because it feels like it hasn't been on for long.

The Gumpert was the same as one I saw at a car show earlier this year.

Pretty good episode. It started off kinda slow, I thought it was going to be horrible, but it slowly turned itself around. That little German guy got what he had coming, I couldn't believe he flipped Hammond off when he drove by.

 that was brilliant. Those chinese cars looked nice suprisingly. James shooting on Jeremy 👍

JK

6 episode in one season kinda short :nervous:

I've just discovered the show, and I love it! I've been catching up on the previous seasons that BBC America shows every Sunday at 4 and Monday at 8.

:-)

lol stig as james was damn funny. specially when he quickly went in the car :)
I noticed that nice Batman The Dark Knight OST's played during episode and when Jeremey was talking in front of those couple cars his voice was like Joker :/

Damn it... Why does the Asians always get shafted. :dopey: 👎

lolcry.gif
👍 England vs. German race.

Still don't get the Rumpret, but it was fast I suppose. :dunce:

It's over... That's it? :( 👎

edit: I'd much rather a test drive of the KTM X Bow over the Rumpret... Thanks for the tease TG. :grumpy: 👎

Lol just re-wated the American Holiday trip episode. Great ep there.

The latest episode could have been staged with the last race (you never know)

Cant wait for the next season.

Plus the bloopers on youtube are really funny :dopey:

So, if they're racing Top Gear Deutschland, does that mean we get a race with Top Gear USA too? I look forward to the insults that would fly between Clarkson and Corolla...

Nevertheless, I found that Japanese sports "thing" to be a lot less-hideous while moving by comparison to the millions of still photos out there. Shame its only got a Toyota V6, it could really be something with one of their newer units, or a Toyota V8.

Both sides bringing out the Mini as a car from home!!!! Hilarious!!!

And my, James sure looks slim in that racing suit!!!!!

Just watched the last episode, and I agree that the England vs. Germany part was plain awesome! 👍 The last part was just pure genius!!!! :D (yeah, when they said that the stig was James....) Also, the Gumpert Apollo was just plain business. Looks aside, that is one awesome machine. The Mitsuoka part was also good to watch but its certainly meh compared to the other parts of the show.... Also, Jay Kay was just ecstatic when he found out he beat Simon Cowell

But wow, 6 episodes just went by like that. Can't wait for season 12!

Why was this season so short? :( It’s not like Hammond crashed another dragster…

Probably other filming commitments or a budget. Top Gear should be back the third week of October though so it's not that far away.

Its because of the complexity of the program plus they have to travel to places like Japan which takes time and orgainsation.. you wouldnt believe how long it takes to get the cars, guests, write the scripts etc etc... every episode needs planning like a hollywood drama!

Its good in a way how they split it 2 parts over the year... that way is doesnt feel too long.

Oh, well that's not so bad and makes more sense. I thought when one says the season they mean an actual season like some other tv shows...

And because they have to release the episodes early enough for them to still be relevant.

As it is, Top Gear is many, many weeks behind that of the motoring magazines, but gets away with it as it is much more of an entertainment program than a car show.

Well, the "news" section still remains pretty relevant, which I suppose is the only thing that matters. Nevertheless, I rarely understand some of their quips when they start naming people. But, that's because I'm a Yank...

I am looking forward to the fall season, and really if you think about it, October isn't far away at all.

I'll be curious to see if they release what the contracts are for. I've always been curious how much they make.

Probably quite a bit if Hammond can afford:
Wikipedia
Hammond is a Porsche enthusiast, and particularly likes the Porsche 911. He currently owns a left-hand drive Porsche 911 (which has appeared on Top Gear in the studio), a Dodge Charger, two Land Rovers, a Suzuki GSXR1000, a BMW 1150 GS, a Harley Davidson, a Ducati 1098, the abandoned Porsche 911, a Morgan V6 Roadster, a 1968 Mustang GT390, a 1963 Opel Kadett (which he bought in a Top Gear challenge and named Oliver, he subsequently had it shipped to the UK from Botswana) and several kit cars. On the episode broadcast on 25 November 2007 James May revealed that Hammond had just ordered a brand new Morgan AeroMax much to the disgust of Clarkson.

May can afford (at one point or another):
Wikipedia
May has owned several cars, including a Bentley T2, a 1971 Rolls-Royce Corniche, a Jaguar XJS, a Range Rover, a Fiat Panda, a Porsche 911, a Porsche Boxster S (which he claims is the first car he has ever purchased new)[7] a Mini Cooper and several motorbikes. He has a penchant for prestige cars like Rolls Royces and Bentleys, as well as simple and basic cars.

and Clarkson can afford:
Wikipedia
Clarkson owns various cars including a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, a Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG, a Volvo XC90, a Toyota Land Cruiser, a Ford Focus and an ex-military Land Rover Defender, and used to own a Ford Escort RS Cosworth and a Ford GT...He has owned many exotic or high performance cars, including a Mercedes SL55 AMG, and a Ferrari F355. He also previously owned two VW Sciroccos and an XJR Jaguar, and bought a BMW Z1 for his wife.

Ya I've always figured they made a lot based on the cars they have/had.
