Uncensored Bush! giving The Finger! Video link inside

You can stay in the opinions section if you like, and whip up a flame war with established members and mods, or just read what other people have to say about the world. And each other. I wouldn't last any more than a few seconds in a debate here, and I don't think many would either.

I'm not saying someone can't challenge an opinion, but you damn sure aren't going to tell me I can't have one.

Its just that sometimes Anderton, you state your opinion as if it were fact. You consistently say "Bush is stupid". You don't qualify it with "In my opinion" or "In my stereotypical anti-US ignorant blind hating rage filled opinion" (that would be more accurate.)

You try to convince others that a man with a Yale degree is stupid, yet you don't have a degree (yes I'm guessing, but it seems obvious ;)) you just have a long black coat :)

As for our new member De_Wango, 14 posts in one day and every one a gem :)

Prove it. Or shut up. Enough, now. An opinion is an opinion, and you are welcome to yours - but start backing it up.

milefile
Of course it does. Do you always accuse people you dislike and disapporve of being stupid? Your comments demonstrate nothing, other than your peculiar, obsessive disdain for Bush.

You remind me of Otto West in A Fish Called Wanda, only not funny.

Incedentally, Steven Hawking is a moron. All his books are based on the work of his students, whom he had killed. He can really walk, too. The whole cripple thing is an act. It's a conspiracy by the Wheelchair Millitia, a covert liberal organization, to influence legislation requiring more choice parking spaces and ramps at strip clubs.

That's my opinion. I don't need any facts to back that up so don't ask for them. It's not that there aren't any. You can't prove that. I just can't be bothered.

Otto.

I giggled for approximately 4 minutes after reading that post.

Well, since you apparently haven't bothered to read your quote in addition to putting it in your post, I suppose we can go through the cycle once more.

I stated my opinion. True, I did neglect to introduce it as such with "In my opinion," but nevertheless anything I - or anyone else, for that matter - post here is by its very nature opinion. You responded by telling me I had to back up my opinion, to which I responded I do not have to, indeed the definition of an opinion does not state the necessity for factual support or evidence of any kind. If it did require these, it would not be an opinion.

So if you've been able to follow me, you did in fact tell me I can't have an opinion because I have to start backing it up. When you said I'm entitled to my opinion, you added a clause, a "BUT" condition. This condition was that I "start backing them up."

Any questions? good, there'll be a quiz Friday.

And by the way, I have an Honours Bachelor of Arts (Graduated with High Distinction, Class of 2004) from the University of Toronto, as well as a Bachelor of Education in the works from the same institution. It's not Yale or Harvard, but it's something.

The condition was placed upon you repeating the same tired and unproven allegation endlessly, not upon you holding that opinion. Holding the opinion is your inalienable right. But continuing to blather about it on a private forum is not an inalienable right; it is subject to the terms and conditions placed by the owner of this forum, which I have been asked to help uphold.

What's all the fuss about. Most people have sworn in there time. As for the video of Bush drunk at a party, I'm sure we've been there at some point. Sure he is the most powerful man in the world and has responsibility, but no one is perfect. We have all done things wrong, some worst than others. Does the fact that President Bush "swore" make him less eligible to run the country? Not in my opinion.

Show me a perfect President or Prime Minister.

Because I have seen my children - and others - demonstrate more critical thinking ability and more ability to use logic than I have seen you demonstrate. If you've got a problem with that, start showing more logical ability.

Nonetheless, I have not accused you of 'almost subhuman' intelligence. You are accusing George Bush of being retarded, despite evidence presented to the contrary. So either back your assertion up with even the slightest shred of evidence, or give it a rest already.
May I ask you a quick question; There is a big difference between being stupid and just occasionally making the wrong decision, isn't there?

Even the smartest people will make a wrong decision. What I'm taking exception to is Anderton's continued and unsupported insistence that Bush is "almost subhuman" in stupidity - his exact words.

Well at least you realise now that you should have introduced a statement like "Bush is a moron" with an "in my opinion" as you are attempting to state a fact...glad you can see the difference now...

Your second point is not true, not anything you post can be said to be opinion. If I say "Bush won the election", that is FACT, not opinion, "If I say Kerry should have won", that is an opinion that I should qualify with "IMO" or provide evidence as to why I think he should have won...

A Bachelor of Arts...meh...didn't want a BSc then. ;) Also you don't mention what subject it was in, for all we know it could be in watching TV.

What I find hard to believe is that a degree educated man can have such a childish opinion about something. Can't you come up with a better argument than "Bush is stupid/dumb/moronic", you must realise this is called "name calling" and is done by children. At degree level you are encouraged to differentiate between reliable sources and wild claims. You are meant to adopt an objective approach, take an unbiased view and present your argument in a scientific way. Name calling doesn't quite measure up.

Oh...and because you mocked the authenticity of Bush's two degree's....did you buy yours on the internet, or are Toronto's standards that low that they don't teach objective reasoning ;)

IN MY OPINION, george bush is an idiot. There. It's now an opinion, and as such needs no more proof. Plus, since you all seem to like harping on the fact that it's not my opinion, what if I said, "Matrix Revolutions is a good movie." and did not put "In my opinion" either in front or behind this sentence? Would those of you who believe the contrary tell me that I need proof to back up what I said? You should be aware that it's an opinion, just like anything I say about Bush is my opinion.

There...thats better :)

You didn't address my point about why you have such a silly opinion. Put your education to good use and come up with something better. This is not my opinion, but something like "Bush is a narrow minded fanatical Christian who is insensitive to the world view of him, he oppresses womens rights by taking away their right of choice as to have an abortion or not"...thats a much better opinion than "Bush smells" ;)

Yes! :) I happen to think that film sucked! I thought the first was great, and reloaded had a great action sequences, but the last one was smelly pants ;)
(Notice the use of "think" and "I thought" to qualify it as an opinion ;))

But I'm saying you don't NEED these special "magic" opinion words, all you need is an audience who can make the distinction.

Plus, what good would it do to list everything wrong with bush, since no bush-supporter is going to listen to it anyway? I'm not wasting my time typing it all out; let my opinion, "bush is a moron," stand for everything everyone already knows about him. I love how you people who don't agree with an opinion but already know why I might think that decide to waste time and space trying to get me to put some facts down. YOU ALREADY KNOW WHY I, AND EVERY OTHER bUSH-HATER, THINKS bUSH IS A MORON AND THE WORST PRESIDENT THE US HAS EVER HAD!

Ok, its your choice...but you will always run into conflict by stating it the way you do.

It only makes you come across as stupid by resorting to name calling, and I'm sure thats not what you want. That's not a personal attack, it's advice ;)

You are aware of course that technically a "moron" is someone with an IQ of less than 60, personally I would not use it as a derogatory term to describe someone, as there are mentally handicapped people who take great offence at the word being used in that way.

Now, calm down, and take your caps lock off :) Describing yourself as a Bush-Hater is not good, after all you are only going to end up winding yourself up occupying your time with hate.

One last thing, you say that all you need is an audience that can make the distinction, but you call out to the mods every time someone says something bad about you, when they should have said "in my opinion"...can't you make the distinction either ;) Like above, I've had to insert, "That's not a personal attack" because I think, like previously, you will make a complaint.

I make complaints only in the case of personal attacks. Opinion or not, I don't make them and I don't think it's fair that anyone makes them towards me. I've called other users and even mods on it, because I get jumped on whenever I utter something that is even remotely close to a PA. I don't ever complain to the mods because someone's personal opinion about a subject is out of whack with my own.

..but you are making a personal attack on the President of the United States ;)

Anyway, I'm just saying why it is that you get jumped on sometimes, I'm not a Bush supporter, I live in the UK, and there are several issues that I completely disagree with. But I will defend someone from uninformed attacks. I'm sure you have the intelligence to get your point across more gracefully than the "you smell of poo" approach

See you around ;)

btw Revolutions Sux

It doesn't matter if Bush had mid 120 IQ when he was 22 or that Kerry had a lil less than him, what does matter is that Bush has lost 50 off his IQ, while Kerry has maintained his IQ.

Tacet_Blue
btw Revolutions Sux
Is that your OPINION? Because you're attacking the movie, without any backup, and so far as I can see you have not made it clear that this is your opinion by including any of your magic words or phrases...

Yeah, just kidding. Let's move on.

 I've moved on already.
I'll justify the comment though, relative to the first one it was pants. I'm a fan, I've got the limited edition animatrix dvd, the first film was original, well thought out, and well executed. I loved the references to Alice in Wonderland. It was an amazing concept..out of the blue and...well fantastic, its still my favourite. The second was more action less plot, loved the twins and Trinity on a bike (I've got the making of dvd, and did you know the stunt rider who did those scenes was nicknamed "Death" by the other stuntmen, apparently she was an animal ;)), and the third was...well...lets make another film to make a **** load of money. A bit like the Alien really :)

Thats totally off topic, but I'm just showing you that I don't bare grudges ;)

Bush has lost 50 off his IQ, while Kerry has maintained his IQ.
wheres it proved...that statement is stated as purely fact...and Anderton...a statement such as your "Bush is an idiot" is stated AS FACT...none of those words even IMPLY that it was opinion...
