underestimated or suprisingly good cars

I have all the premium cars and just starting to work my way through the standard, im trying to find some cars that are awesome. i like risky cars, some i have found that i really like are

alpine a110 (or something) really light and suprisingly quick with a snappy back end

the 1978 mitsubishi mirage 1400, fully tuned weapon, handles amazing

83 mitsubishi lancer

jaguar xkr r-performance

kusabi concept

triumph spitfire 1500 again a really risky car but handle it well and you can go very fast, i beat an amuse s2000 on a-spec in one after 5 or 6 tries

Anyone recommend any other cars that turned out to be great, even premiums as i havnt driven them all
 
One of my personal favorites is the Tommy Kaira ZZII. In GT5 it's only about 65,000 credits, it's AWD and amazingly quick... I'd recommend this car to anyone to try! Another to try is the GSX-R\4 concept from Suzuki. That one suprised me to be honest. Ginetta G4 is a quick and fun go cart and another favorite of mine is the CTR2, drive her fast, drive her hard, she likes it RUF!

The Tommy Kaira ZZII and Ginetta G4 were 2 of the first cars I tried to acquire in GT5. When I first got to know them in GT4 they really caught my eye and the ZZII is by far my fave car in the GT series
 
Get a Daihatsu Cuore/Mira TR-XX Avanzato.

I have a very good tune for it in my garage. It's the ultimate go cart and on the right tracks (Real twisty, no long straights) should more than keep up with anything 475 PP and lower.
 
Ginetta G4: teeny tiny car that hauls!
Honda Odyssey: Mom cruiser with 500hp, people laugh until you dust them
Motorsport Elise 99: my favorite of the Lotus group
Mitsubishi HSR-II Concept: just an extremely unique car
ZZII : simply amazing for 65k
Dodge RAM 1500 LARAMIE Hemi Quad Cab: same as Odyssey
 
Suzuki GSXR/4 Concept is surprisingly good. It beats LP640s on most tight or twisty tracks.
 
Infinity 45 Concept... comes out of the hole like a bat out of hell, and just keeps pulling
 
Toyota Caldina. You WILL surprise people with this car. And it looks better than the Odyssey.
 
Just came across an awesome drift car tonight I was doing the british lightweights and used the LOTUS ESPRIT TURBO HC '87 tuned to about 280bhp and on comfort softs

Amazing, I am crap at drifiting but this drifts really naturally and I recommend it to amyone to try and learn to drift in
 
Call me out but the Tamora is so much more fun than I expected it to be. I just love driving it around Mt.Aso and the London Circuit.:)
 
I don't think the ZZII is underrated. Many people use it online.

Some cars that don't get much respect include:

Spirra
Hommell
Mercury Cougar XR7
Dodge SRT4 (some people have discovered this little speed demon)

I think they can all be setup nicely and surprise people
 
Definitely the Motorsport Elise 99'. Very good handling, good grip even without TCS or Skid recovery, Not super fast but quick, great overall car.
 
I prefer the '02 ZO6 that you can buy rather than the premium one in 1st person.

I have to agree with the TK ZZII! I got that as one of my first 3 or 4 cars, it is a lot of fun, and i still pull it out just to have a round.

The Dodge SRT-4 is a great little car, but suffers in the corners compared to the ZZII.

I haven't tried any minivans yet, lol, but I'll take your word for it.

I detuned that same GSX R/4 to 160hp and dusted the field in G.V.300km and the Laguna Seca 200mi races both on one tank of gas and 1 and 2 pitstops repectively for tires...Same car with more hp won the Tsukuba 9hr for me as well...On the right track it'll beat cars with 450-600hp any day of the week!

The E46 M3. I always knew it was good, but not as good as it is! Most of my cars are stock so I can't really say how good they are tuned, but still. It handles great, decently fast in a straight line, and easy to slide when you want it to! And I suck, so if it's easy for me to drive, it should have UBER potential for you guys

But a car I actually found A BIT disappointing is the Suzuki Escudo Dirt Trial Car. Off the line, it murders a Veyron, but once it gets up to about 140, 150mph or so, it sort of loses the amazing acceleration it had before. And the top speed is low for a 1000hp car (naturally with that ENORMOUS wing and what no) and the cornering is good, but I bet something else you race against in Like the Wind could easily out handle it

This car was designed specifically for hill-climb type races. Top end was not a priority. :)

Tuned and balanced just right will make this guy a force to be reckoned with on technical tracks. It grips like a champ.

Ya, I didn't think I'd be the only one to use this car for the Endurance series... Just as you did, I ran both Grand Valley and Laguna with it, and it was pretty well unfair... lol. My dust had settled, had dust bunnies, they had glorious careers with the Dust Mites, etc. etc. :sly: Only difference was mine was at the 270hp mark. Haven't done Tsukuba yet though...

As for the ZZII, I loved that car even in GT2 when it was MR, and have kept on rolling from there. Gotta be the "Best Bang for the Buck" car in the game in my opinion.

The Volkswagen Golf V '05 handles absolutely wonderful.
Best FF handling car in the game, hands down.
 
BMW 1 series coupe , when fully tuned it is a proper track weapon. The handeling is perfect , steering it quick and precise. It can mix it with more powerful cars pretty easily. Also I think it is the best looking car in the current BMW range.

Yes its very good handling but have you tried some of the Kei car FFs properly tuned they'll eat just about anything short of full race cars through the twisty bits. Particularly the Cervo and my favorite the Daihatsu Cuore/Mira TR-XX Avanzato '97 (check out my tune for the Cuore/Mira)
 
BMW 2002 Turbo. I have yet to lose a race with it (430,440,or 450pp).
That and the Shelby GT350. Most people write it off as being too hard to drive, but I pretty easily keep up with anybody in the 550pp range.
