Unexplained experiences

A couple of years ago while staying at a friends house, their 2 year old daughter came into the kitchen crying about grand parents dog dying, not long after the grand parents rang to tell about the dog dying. Could have been coincidence but felt weird at the time.

A very interesting subject overall... but I'd take some issue with the article saying

The Biggest Study
The mystery of the phenomenon of the Fafrotski is not that things fall, but that things are SORTED out during whatever the process is. Either something has sorted them while still "on the ground", or they have been somehow sorted in the air.

I'd have thought that aerodynamics/fragmentation would quite easily sort mud-from-worm in a situation where a strong, localised spout picked them up. It's easy to imagine that the earth would quickly powder and that the worms could fall separately. Their apparent succulent juiciness could be easily explained by them falling onto the top of a thawing snow surface.

That's not to deny how fascinating the phenomenon is, just that the article seems to take an open-mouthed "can't be possible" approach to something which very clearly is.

I had one a couple years ago when my sister got married.

It was the night before the wedding, we just got home from the rehearsal. It was about 10pm and we were sitting around the kitchen table having a drink and talking about the wedding the next day. One relative brought up that my deceased grandmother would have loved to be around for the wedding.

Right after they said that, a music box on the mantle started playing. (It hadn't been wound or even touched in many years) It played a small part of the song that my sister chose to play while walking down the aisle. After it stopped playing we heard some wine glasses in the sink clinking together loudly as if to say "cheers".

To this day we can't explain it.

This is oddly coincidental and explainable by random chance.... but yesterday evening I looked through an old PC to see if there was any TV/film on it worth watching.

There were a few things including When Louis Theroux Met Keith Harris.

Mrs. Ten is partial to a bit of Louis Theroux so I popped it onto a memory pen and whacked it in the 'Box. Mrs. Ten immensely enjoyed Louis's's coralling of the bitter, end-of-the-pier ex-TV performer that was Keith Harris.

Blow me if the bugger (Harris) didn't die today and get on the 12'o'clock news for it. Mrs. Ten's first comment was that it was a peculiar and hair-raising coincidence. Her second was that the program will now be on again in much better broadcast quality.

It's probably dumb luck but I seem to have the power to Jinx people

My Brother was playing GT5 and the online host was about to change the track but he wanted to finish a lap. I said he'll be sent back to the lobby just before he crossed the line, and he did :P.

Every single time in Mario Party when I play with friends. I'll say stuff like "You'll get a 6", "You're going to lose all your stars"... and they happen.

In MK8, I dominate a race with my brother chilling in second and sometimes I'll imagine hime getting 3 Red Shells and he does. Also applies when I think about someone using a Blue Shell.

etc.

I also seem to have the biggest luck EVER in games since I've never lost a Game of Mario Party unless I go easy on my opponents.

If you feel lucky then buy a lottery ticket.

So a friend doesn't do ouija boards, we asked why...

When she was a teenager her and a group of friends got one out for a laugh. Two of the friends refused to do it and went out of the room to watch something on the TV. They set the board up and formed the circle and got a "response" from someone calling themselves "Jack". Jack was the name of my friend's ex boyfriend, so one of the others jokingly asked if it was a ****ed off spirit, to which it replied "**** off". They then asked if it was ****ed off with my friend, to which it said no, but that it was with someone else in the room and that it knew the girl who went into the other room. When they asked for its surname it replied only with the letter "C". They then asked to break the circle (apparently you "have to do this") and thought nothing of it.

Bit later the two friends came back and asked how the Ouija experience went and the group told the girl "Jack was here for you" half jokingly. Immediately the colour drained from her face and she became inconsolable. She shouted at the group that it wasn't funny and demanded to know who was playing a prank on her....

Once she settled down she explained that Jack was her adopted brother who had died a few years ago. His last name was Connoly. Some members of the group were also aware of a love triangle that involved the girl and someone in the circle.

She pleaded to make contact again so they set up the board. They tried asking for Jack, but instead the response was "KKK". Again they asked and it was "KKK" and it became unrelenting in going to "K". My friend became spooked as she was the only non white member of the group and started crying asking them to stop and to ask permission to end the circle.

I've had some unexplained experiences. They were probably just random false positives in my brainmachine. That's usually all they are.

When you see flashes of light inside your eyes and skull, don't worry. That's just cosmic rays destroying your DNA causing eventual dementia.

Is that the kind of experience you've had?

It's safe and okay to tell your experiences here, I hope.

But seriously, we're just a bunch of guys sitting around the global campfire telling ghost stories. Jump right in! Our bark is worse than our bite, and you just might learn something new. Firstly; you are not alone in having unusual experiences.

Unexplained things become normal when working in hospitals, particularly with elderly patients or those close to death.

For instance, patients repeatedly call me Michael (and other names of course since they are confused or have only met me for a few minutes, but it's always Michael that comes up shift after shift) even after I make a point of showing my badge and telling them my name. Just so happens that my mum was adamant on calling me Michael for 8 1/2 months of the pregnancy and only changed her mind after her brother in law was reading the meanings of names from a name book and found one she preferred.

Nah, i've actually never had anything happen to me that I would classify as potentially supernatural. I've seen shapes in shadows at night and in my peripheral vision, but that's just common "brain tries to find patterns where there are none" stuff. Happens all the time and it's not really unusual. Also get them a lot when I've had 4 cans of red bull and 3 cups of coffee.

NOTHING kills the credibility of ghost stories, UFO sightings and unexplained experiences faster than the use of alcohol.
I've found some of the most interesting and potentially reliable stories come from sober young people.

Here's a bizarre one - another in a long line of 'musical' coincidences, probably due to the fact that I listen to ALOT of music, but this was quite extraordinary.

I went home to Edinburgh on Saturday as my sister was planning a BBQ due to a rare spell of warm weather. I was listening to various playlists on my iPod on the way through, including my 'Super Furry Animals' playlist. When the song "The Man Don't Give A 🤬" came on, however, I pictured sitting in the back garden with my family and thought to myself that I'd quite like to put this playlist on this afternoon, but I'd have to skip this track because of the language... I then thought to myself that SFA would be a bit beyond the pale for an afternoon family BBQ anyway.

When I got to my sister's house, we sat outside and my sister put on some music - a Stevie Wonder compilation album. I remembered about the idea of putting on SFA and re-affirmed my opinion that it would probably not go down too well, especially the sweary anthem that spawned the idea in the first place. After about an hour, we were still outside chatting and having a drink, when a neighbour two doors away had a similar idea and put some music of their own on. And what was the very first track they played?? "The Man Don't Give A 🤬" by the Super Furry Animals...

Link to the song
(obvious language warning :P)

I guess this thread suits it best as I can't explain what I just saw.

I was standing outside, it's dark here, having a smoke, when I looked up and saw what looked like 3 stars lined up in a perfect triangle. Having no memory of a constellation looking like that I was a bit baffled, and still am.

As I kept on watching them, one by one they faded away. And then they were gone.

I already dismissed them as satellites as they weren't moving. I'm no fan of the 'Aliens' explanation, that's why it's in this thread.

Anyone have a clue? Could they be satellites?

Check for reappearances of the lights for the next few nights, and with your local media for reports similar to yours. Write down as many details as you can remember, such as the time of day, angle above the horizon, size, color, etc.

I am already doing so. And Google tells me I'm not the only one who has seen it.

Great! Please post anything interesting you learn!

For now here's my info.

22.00 local time. To the South East, roughly at the height that Saturn now appears in the sky.
I'm waiting for the neighbours to turn off their idiotic flood light to pinpoint it to a constellation.

Edit.

I have my camera on standby if it happens again.

Edit 2.

It was exactly the same as this story

The NUFORC report stated the objects were in the SE, as seen from Freeland, MD. But the time of his sighting was much different(?) Plot your sighting on a map relative to Freeland, MD. This could help establish the altitude of the objects, crucial data!

You may also choose to make your own report to NUFORC. This is the agency many airports, airbases will refer you to for reporting such a sighting.

Triangular sets of lights form one of the most common types of UFO sighting. My own favourite theory is that they're caused by triple refraction through patches of very icy atmosphere. There's a cold front sitting across the northern Dutch coast right now that's being hit with warm air from the SW and SE... possibly a cause?

Here's a great pic of a triple sun caused by the same effect. As the icy air can be moving quite rapidly in cross-section between the observer and the light source it can sometimes seem that the "triangle" is moving erratically at speed or that it simply vanishes/reappears elsewhere.

Another crazy music related coincidence for me the other day...

I had to stay home on Wednesday as I was waiting on my new passport being delivered. At lunchtime, I had a weird (albeit not untypical) daydream - this time it involved meeting one of my favourite bands, Rush, and having lunch with them. I figured one of them might ask me what my favourite Rush album was, to which I would have replied 'Grace Under Pressure'. I then set about deciding what my favourite track was from 'Grace Under Pressure' and figured it was 'Afterimage' - a song about a friend of theirs who died suddenly and begins with the lyric, 'Suddenly you were gone - from all the lives you left your mark upon'. The song holds particular poignancy for me since I first heard it around the time my cousin died, and the lyrics have always meant a great deal to me, particularly that powerful opening line.

Anyway, later that same day, on the main evening news programme on BBC Scotland, there was a piece about Asad Shah, a Glasgow shopkeeper who was brutally murdered last week. The piece contained some footage from near his shop where there are hundreds of bouquets of flowers and tributes, since he was a popular local figure. The camera zoomed into one card on a bunch of flowers for a couple of seconds...

I think I've got a story. Back then, I dismissed the incident as nothing more than a lucky instance for me, but further evaluation about it makes me wonder what really happened back there.

Long story short, I was at elementary school, on 3rd grade most likely, where during recess I pushed some girl over for annoying me. As I was about to retreat from the scene of crime, I heard someone loudly and angrily shouting at me, at first associating the voice with my gym teacher (very loud man), but looking around, I didn't see him anywhere. The voice called me out another time, then never came back. I didn't get in trouble, and said gym teacher, or any other one for the matter, never confronted me for it either.

What really makes me suspect the voice's origin was strictly in my head was that none of the other students around the area seemed to hear or pay any attention to it. That begs the question, has anyone else also had this happen? Like, your conscience essentially goes into extreme mode to scold you?

I (believe I) saw one of Glasgow's most eminent physics professors, Miles Padgett, driving past me in his BMW 5 Series estate car on campus this evening... nothing too special about that as I've seen him in his car several times over the last few years. What was weird about it this time was the fact that he was also walking past on the other side of the road at the same time. What is even weirder is that Prof. Padgett is a specialist in 'ghost imaging' - a technique that exploits the bizarre phenomenon on quantum entanglement, meaning that the same photon can essentially be in two places at the same time. Either Prof. Padgett is not telling us something or the guy in the BMW is someone else. I know which one I believe...

Nice story! But will you tell it to the good professor??

OK, another bizarre (and music-related) coincidence...

To my utter shame, it turns out I haven't seen the dentist for 8 years - and so today's appointment was something of a rarity. Earlier today, I was thinking of excuses for not going sooner, and one reason I didn't go last year was because I was working in the US over the summer and I didn't want to get some work started prior to that, so I put it off. Ironically, I ended up living with a dentist while I was in the US - we got on really well and we used to play music together as he had a digital piano and a keyboard, plus a couple of mics. One night, after the film 'Tootsie' had been on the TV, we attempted a spontaneous rendition of the song that plays during the closing credits, as it is a fairly straightforward ballad to play on the piano. That was just a few days before I left, and it was the last time we played music together. Anyway, I took a seat in the reception of the dentist here in Glasgow for the first time since 2008 this evening, and what was the very first song that came on the radio??
