Downloaded it and played it. It is pretty stable for a beta, and it runs very well (1280x800 with medium settings is just barable on my 8600GS 256mb). Not QUITE what I expected it to look like, but the gameplay is still the classic Unreal style.

The vehicles are cool too! Some are pretty destructive.

Will have to check it out. How's the frame rates? Game play as fast as prior UT titles?

Guh, Fileplanet? Anyone have a better download source; I refuse to sign up with Fileplanet, even if its free...

I downloaded it as a torrent from here:

It should run very well on your rig - seems to be very demanding on my CPU though, so I guess it depends.

And yes, the gameplay pace is just as quick.

That dang AMD CPU.... Might just have to get a new board, new processor, and go Dual 8800GTX SLi, just to see how much my electric bill goes up....

Great minds think alike perhaps  First place I went, though I am using a different torrent and tracker, still plenty of seeds.

should go faster than FilePlanet and their... well, bull crap.

EDIT: Yes much better, downloading at over 300 kb/s

I'll test it on my machine when I get home... which is nothing great, just 1.9 X2, 2 gigs PC6400 and a 7600GT DDR3. Budget stuff, really :indiff:

Okay, playing at 1280 by 1024 with textures down a bit was playable, but random jerkiness would occur. Is this just the beta thing, because I lowered res some and tried again, and still had same issue. Relatively smooth play, then a hiccup, then smooth play, then a hiccup.

i was thinking of going with a 5600 windsor myself... but i wont be buying anything for a few months so a better processor should be more obtainable for me by them. I'm reluctant to switch to intel...AMD's tricore release should cause a drop in dualcores.

IIRC, alot of the textures for the demo are only halfsize to keep the demosize down.

Also, i was able to download from fileplanet at around 500kb/s

I simply hate FilePlanet... and IGN

That aside, is it just me or are the online games really high latency? I connected to a few and my ping was in the several hundreds, where as its perfectly fine when I ping random sites and servers in the command prompt.

Got the game to run a bit smoother by turning down world textures... Actually, alot smoother.

On it's way.... 50%

Let us know how it goes... maybe we can get enough of us here together to run a deathmatch or something that doesn't completely suck...

Vehicle wise, my fav is the Manta so far... and I use the hoverboard constantly.

Yeah, good idea. That if we get enough of us online at the same time though...

Give me a bell if anyone's just about to play online though. I'll add your MSN Azuremen as I'm on always online.

D/Ling it right now. Should be able to whack it on max settings. :D

EDIT: Great graphics and gameplay, really fast paced. Definitely buying it.

Okay, this is odd. On Suspense for Vehicle CTF, the game play is smooth and happy. On Shangri La for deathmatch though, I get really bad hiccups while playing :indiff: Are the textures just more complex there or wha?

I've noticed it on that map too. It is only a beta afterall, so I guess they may have some small issues to sort out.

Well, as long as its not just me then; I was starting to think my computer failed at life :indiff:

Its still a bummer though, as its a pretty map. The CTF is by far the most though I think, hoverboard FTW!

I tried running it, but it makes me restart every time I try.

I hope that building this new computer with a Q6600 and a 8800GTX will help.

I run a Intel Core2Duo 6700, with 2 gigs of DDR2, a 320 MB Ge Force 8800GTS, 160GB 7200RPM Drive, and the Demo runs smooth as ice ...
