@YZF

Touche. You're right there. I admit that my view doesn't go for everyone.

Though personally in GT6 I haven't had any issues with seeing the tach yet.

Why does this really matter?

1: You should be focusing on the road, not your dashboard.

The roads are overly dark too in places. Look at the more shadowy regions in the London course, like when you're beginning the approach to Trafalgar square immediately after the hard right. The whole lighting model is too extreme and the interiors of cars are just a symptom of that.

I never got to see V1.00 and v1.01, but so far I've noticed darker cockpits than in GT5. It took me a while to get used to it, but I'm fine now. And I've only noticed it in the Honda Fit RS and the new Renault Clio. The rest are fine. The interiors don't look as rich and full of life as they did in GT5, and there is definitely lower resolution in interior details. But it's not really a big deal.

My only gripe is how close the cockpit view is now in some of the new cars. I was driving the Z8 and I feel like the steering wheel is in my chin. That's the only thing that bothers me and I hope they soon add adjustments for that view.

I feel like if the option to change FOV came in a future update, it would make the game just a lotta bit nicer.

It wasn't. I drive in cockpit view, and the view was far darker than bumper in 1.01. Hence why I suggested the exposure as that's what I've done with 1.01

If it's even worse, then yes it's a problem that needs sorting.

I also drive in cockpit view and I had noticed dark windshields pre-1.02, almost as if they were tinted (these were premium cars mind you). The thing is, it was only in a few instances - not across the board. I'm not sure if it was car specific or track, but I am definitely paying attention now and will try to get a picture if I see it again.

Changing the field of view and height would be greatly appreciated and have me use cockpit alot more. In real life, i can actually see some of the hood. I don't feel comfortable with GT's cockpit where it seems you are always 5'8" or shorter.

This issue can be seen on Mission Race A-3 (BMW Z8 on Matterhorn). The gauges blank out depending on the direction the car is pointing. The rest of the dash remains bright while the gauges become unreadable.

Great pics MM, that's exactly what we are talking about.

And it's almost on every real world circuit: Fuji, Daytona, Motegi, etc, etc. Depending on the position on the track, it's either bright (good, dials are visible) or dark (bad, not visible).

I read a few pages of this thread and I understand some cars windshields are too dark, I personally don't care about how cockpit dials look. but gotta tell y'all, you're missing the real problem which would be frame rate drop in cockpit view. That combined with the camera shaking that's suppose to simulate realife forces me to abandon it for roof view most of the time... The framerate drops to about half 30fps, when in cockpit view, i m a PC gamer who plays everything at 60, so anything less really throws me off

I'm playing on an SD TV and have pretty much always played at 30 fps. When it's at 60, it's noticeably smooth, but when it's at 30, it doesn't seem off to me. I'm ust happy it isn't running at 20 or less.

It's just a visual guess. I've played games on a poopy laptop at 10-20 fps, and the drops just look similar I guess.

I didn't notice any problems with frame rates from onboard cam... Handling wise, it's all good and smooth.

Seems to me like the difference between the sunlit parts and any shadows is too drastic. This isn't helped by the global EV adjustment. My LCD TV is set to normal settings (no contrast boost or similar) and has no problems with any other source.

I just encountered an issue with the in-car view on a specific car, but instead of the outside world being too dark it was obnoxiously too bright. This happened last night in an online room at Special Stage Route X:

The in-car view of the Dodge Challenger R/T Race Car '70 turned the outside world into some sort of white-out effect:

Here's the same view from the bumper cam showing the world normally:
