Update 1.02 ruined cockpit view

Just ran three different races, different cars, cockpit view not seeing any differences in brightness compared to prior update, just as dark (needs to be improved) would imagine some televisions would show darker.

That's were bumper cam comes in. While far from perfect, it's actually a decent view. Just think of how big an actual windscreen is. A 32' TV isn't even big enough to replicate most windscreens so why would you clutter your TV up any more than you had to?

this isn't really the place to get into a debate about the relative merits of the different views. I personally find the cockpit view much more convincing than the bumper cam view. You don't perhaps and that's fine.

simply check your tv settings and your ps3 settings! full-rgb compatible tv? superwhite support by tv? deepcolor support?

open the added picture on your ps3 and setup your tv/ps3. if you can see all from 1-10 try gt6 again!

Anyone instead of moaning thought of turning the exposure up?!

Yes, might be annoying... but hardly worth ranting over.
Agreed 👍

Don't like it, I'd love to see a lot of you do better...

Yeah and PD will just know the problems people are having with the game! You do realize that the vast majority of updates and patches released is in response to user feedback, good or bad? Feedback from forums like GTPlanet, feedback like this thread.

Why is it that when somebody has a problem with a game due to an update (I don't know if this the case here, I haven't updated yet), there are usually half a dozen posts spring yelling to stop moaning? Nobody has the right to tell anyone to stop moaning, untill they have paid for the 'moaners' copy of the game!

yeah...have you actually read through this thread? The issue being discussed has nothing to do with tv settings...

 I'm sorry, I hope that last sentence is 100% sarcastic.

I know there are issues with GT6. There are many issues with every single GT game. But I don't get the attitude of many members on this site. As soon as they find a little problem, they're on their keyboards sprouting 🤬

Just bring up an issue, discuss it in a reasonably adult manner, and leave it as that. Half of this website is full of repeated whinging and cursing, most of the time over little niggles that really don't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Im not experiencing any of these darker cockpit problems either. Ran about 5 cars on different tracks as well.

Before 1.02, I experienced this darker cockpit effect on quite a few cars. In 1.02, the effect is much more noticable, in particular on the dashboard.

The strange thing is, not all cars have this problem to the same extent. For instance, it is almost non-existant on the Scirocco N24. Yet the normal Scirocco is almost too dark to drive now.

Everything's gotten brighter for me.

Faster load times for digital, and the jumping at the start of races is really reduced, and the jumping at the end of races is gone.

A video game means less than 0 in the grand scheme of things, but yet we are all here wasting our precious time discussing it. Anyone sees a problem that, to him, makes this game unplayable he has the right to share it, this is after all the place to do that.

I haven't got a problem with sharing and discussing the issues. What I have a problem with is the attitude of many members. That's all.

You can't blame them for being pissed with GT6 mostly no? :D

It's 100% NOT sarcastic. Read the guys first post. Just bringing up an issue to discuss is exactly what he did and he also asked if anyone else had this problem.

The attitude of half the members of this site is that they've paid good money (£60 for me) for what is a half finished game. How many features that were used to market the game are going to be 'added at a later date'? Online Community, Course Maker, Engine sounds, GPS tracking, Online racing clubs/leagues. That's quite a list and I'm sure there's more, features that should have been in the game from release. If they're not ready on time, why release the game? I'll tell you, to cash in on the xmas rush. Do you think I want to pay full price for a game to be a beta tester?

My attidude still stands. I'll 'moan' and 'whinge' at this game as I find faults untill you or anyone else pays me back the £60 I paid. Then I'll stay silent.

I've posted negatives and posted positives. In a new game with so many features missing, there are bound to be more negative reports than positive. There's a load of things I prefer over GT5 (fast navigation, new tracks, new cars, standard cars premiumized like the Countach, full HDD installed).

There aren't many things that are bad for me. I'm not fussed over AI as I only play games online. Poor credit prizes has been resolved today. The sound is a problem to me and I'd like to see that to be PD's highest priority. I'd have liked the advanced online features to have been implemented from launch.

People have as much right to complain as they do praise and honestly, nobody made you open the thread or read all the posts. You could have opened it, read the posts and, in an adult manner, formed your opinion and moved on to read something else. No one made you comment.

By your logic and my logic we're all as bad as each other.

:boggled: I'll leave now then. Cos I'm clearly not going to be able to talk you out of insanity.

Research what a game will have, and what will be coming later, and buy said game. Then moan at things that are 'missing' (that you knew about).

Yeah, makes sense to me. :ouch:

When you say jumping, are you talking about just before the lights go green on a rolling start, it's as if the throttle is getting goosed or the momentarily buffering stutter (I've a digital download/install too). If it's the latter has it stopped doing that if your on a time trial and you go off course?

Half the stuff that was marketed about the game was never stated wouldn't be in the game untill a couple of weeks before it's release. No one knew for sure what would and wouldn't be in the game, because Kaz seems incapable of giving a solid answer to any question. If you buy food that's in date but when you eat it, it's clearly gone off, do you take it back and complain or do you keep quiet and put it down to experience?

As for researching the game, is that what you'd say to a mum who's just bought 12 year old Johny the game for xmas.

You hate people moaning. I hate people moaning about 'people moaning', as more often than not they have that PREMIUM badge under their name, as if that makes them some authority on this site!

Yeah, that buffer stutter has gone from about 2 sec at start to about .200 at start. Maybe less. There's no stutter at the end anymore.

My problem is not with the dash, its with the world outside the car. It almost looks like the front windscreenis tinted. Really dark and hard to see, even in full daylight. I ddon't have this problem with any other view.
Yep, it is tinted.

In GT6 PD seemed have gone down the line of actually having the windows tinted for real from within the cabin. In GT5 I think they basically didn't bother.

Thing is, some cars have more of a tint than others. Hondas seem to have the most tint in my experience.

Somebody posted earlier in the thread saying that there was tint/darkness in GT5 and then there wasn't in an earlier GT6 version. This is not the case.

It is possible that that the EV +\- setting has been reset since the update for some people. It's the old "safari seems snappier now after the update" scenario...

I can attest to the tinting... My Rx-7 has a tinted back window, but all other windows are "clear."

So how does having a tinted screen makes the dials darker ?
This Could be more to do with the new lighting model and the fact that you are much more likely to be on a track now where the light is not 100% full sun making what you are seeing inside the cabin darker.

I don't tend to have an issue with the dials, as I actually don't look at them much.

Whether a darker dashboard or a simulated tint, both things are a result of PDs obsession with the details and lighting. It has unfortunate consequences here. Just needs an option to turn off the tints. The rest can be handled with an EV adjustment.

Edit: The LCC Rocket perfectly illustrates my point on this:

A. There is no roof, light shines in, so the dashboard itself doesn't look too dark.
B. You can visibly see the light difference between the strip of tinted glass running along the edge of cockpit and the outside world that is untinted.

All a bad consequence of following through with simulated details. In some areas you need to depart from reality to actually make something playable.

Lol, "too dark to drive"

Have to say, I'm not doubting the OP's concerns, but the in-car driver view cam, looks absolutely fine to me on my game. Even night racing the dashboard is completely fine. Infact, since 1.02, it looks better to my eyes, but different tv's maybe ? My in-game light setting is set to " 0 " by the way.

I, of course, have only used a few cars today, so maybe i've got lucky so far ?

Yes, you 'got luckly' or in other words, you did not try those tracks and cars that have this problem.

Go to Free Run and select Daytona Road Course. Try to read speedometer and tachometer. You'll see what we are talking about.

Some cars had and still have darker cocpits.I didnt see any change.

Driving at Willow Springs a bright color car (really) at 12:00 ,its undrvable on any view except cocpit view.
Too much flare ,and everything is so bright I cant play :)

I thought I'd started the wrong game! The sun on that track is just like the sun in thst tosh BF3!
